The Elections of the DPRM are hereby opened. The four main parties have released their mandates and shown below is a main overview of their policies and leadership:

[b]Main Policies:[/b]
1) Removal of the DPRM nuclear arsenal
2) Major cutbacks on all armed forces budgets
3) Increased education budget
4) Lower taxes
5) Cancellation of 70% of the DPRM Defence Network

[b]Leader:[/b] Simon Pegg

[b]Main Policies:[/b]
1) Equal salary plan for all citizens regardless of position
2) Nationalization of all industries and schools
3) Removal of taxes
4) Nation Health Service to be implemented
5) No cuts to armed forces, nuclear deterrent or the DPRM Defence Network

[b]Leader:[/b] Nicholas Angel

[b]Main Policies:[/b]
1) Nationalization of defence companies
2) People's Republic Navy returned to full strength
3) Further fortification of the DPRM Defence Network
4) Increased taxes
5) Increase nuclear deterrent with 5 extra warheads

[b]Leader:[/b] Danny Butterman

[b]Main Policies:[/b]
1) Privatisation of several businesses
2) No change to taxes
3) National health service for lower end of earners
4) Removal of border wall and 80% of all missile sites
5) Cut back the People's Republic Navy to only nuclear deterrence submarines

Polls currently have the Liberal Democrat Party party top with 34%, followed by the Socialist Party with 28%. The Conservative Party are next with 24% followed by the Labour Party with 14%. These are only opinion polls however and it could all be turned on it's head on the day.

The polling stations are closed, and the votes have been counted. This time around we had an astounding 92% turnout as people exercised their right to vote.

I am pleased to tell you that the winner of the first ever general election in the DPRM is, with an astounding 39% of votes is...

And congratulations to them indeed. The Liberal Democrat Party came in second with 27% of the votes, the Conservative Party came third with 25% and the Labour Party fourth with just 9% of the votes.

Simon Pegg had this to say.

[i]"It's just fantastic to see that the people of our nation want a system that is fair for everyone. We have dreamed about this for some time, and never imagined it could come true. I want to say thank you to the people who voted for us, you are the people that will make a difference. They know that we are all equal in this life, it doesn't matter if you're a doctor, a janitor or the President, in the end we're human and now we will see an end to a divide of classes in our nation. So thank you all and God bless."[/i]

President Simon Pegg was immediately sworn in fully as President in his home church, over-riding the previous vows he took as interim President.

The parties have started in Belfast and are expected to continue well into the night.
