...Invasion??

Captain Vihr's orders had been clear. Travel from the Home and invade Direlia going West following the Southern side of the Trans Antarctic Mountains. They were to also reach the borders of the Greater Pacific protectorate and take all land between for Vaahrok. Further orders were pending their successful arrival at the coast.

Vihr knew why he was being sent, being already prepared for a long journey that was supposed to go back to the island, and he also knew why command gave such precise orders. What he didn't know is why his rather insignificant force was the only one going on the planned invasion. It seemed like a doomed mission, but command wouldn't doom its own soldiers.

Vihr passed the order along to the officers in his band and left the expedition's workers to carry on at the Home. Eight companies of Vaahrokian soldiers on fast sleds divided into two equal forces and headed west for their rendezvous with the Antarctic coast in a week. If all went well that is. As the first claim flag and pennant went down Vihr hoped that Koshiir-Ra would watch over him.

OOC: This will be the ending map after I post a few more things. I gotta cut it short right now though till I get back to my computer.Look a spiffy map.

Metal hooks and trailing lines drag into snow pack causing a sled to grind a gradual stop. Vihr had run his sleds as fast as he could to the coast, but every mile closer meant a sharper angle off course to keep with the winds. There had been no mis-haps, no confrontations, and no trouble of any kind on the trip. With the winds still tearing at their backs Vihr did not get out of the sled as he radioed back to command his successful arrival at the coast.

"Captain Vihr to Command HQ. Captain Vihr to Command HQ. Have arrived at target point Over. No trouble, all clear, Over. Waiting for next orders. Over."

Harsh static mixed with the constant hiss of wind blown ice droplets.

*click click*

"Command HQ to Captain Vihr. Confirmation Recieved. Execute Operation A.O.P.H., Over. Repeat, Execut Operation A.O.P.H., for all companies. Over."

"Captain Vihr, Confirmed, Over."

Placing the radio back into its stow, and dragging the snow anchor back, Vihr signals the other sleds around him. Gradually sails are re-raised and the sleek grey sleds are sent inland toward the Direlia cities.

All forces had reported successes at each of the Direlian cities, except the city of Xalyth, which high command had ordered them to avoid due to a third party claiming responsibility for the city. This was not a significant problem as the capital city of Direlia was a very mixed city compared with the other major Direlian cities.

The Direlian cities had been well prepared for survival independent or direction, and well supplied internally with all the materials needed for what was planned. Initial contact had been sketchy because of that fact. However, it was hard to deny the proof they brought, and each city's native population was convinced of the right course of action. After that it had been long slow hours of construction and gathering of supplies. Stripping down buildings to turn into sleds, commandeering pulling vehicles, preserving perishables and personal items for transit, and making sure the few Direlian natives, and other foreign groups, that were staying behind had adequate remaining supplies.

Soon it would be the time to leave.
