Their wish was that they would be able to rule themselves, and create their own country called Khalistan. When the government heard of what they wanted, they saw an opportunity to show they are not as tyrannical as once thought and granted the people their wish. From now on the land shown below will be know as Khalistan and it shall elect it's own leader from it's own citizens. Khalistan had been a concept cherished by Sikhs for a long time, however most of its goals had been achieved by becoming part of the Kingdom of Cochin and thus enjoying greater freedom and autonomy along with greater prosperity. As a secular and tolerant society, Sikhism is one of the various religions honored by the state. A Gurudwara even functions as part of our Great Temple of All Faiths.
