Lynneth
Elections concluded, results available While incredible amounts of refugees are pouring into the country, elections have been held. The five contending parties were: Nidahas Pakshaya (Freedom Party; NP) Leader - Mahinda Rajapaksa Headquarters - Colombo Ideology - Democratic socialism, Centre-Left/Populist, Sinhalese nationalism Mahajana Pakshaya (People's Party; MP) Leader - Chandrika Kumaratunga Headquarters - Colombo Ideology - Socialism, Centre-Left, Internationalism Muslim National Unity Alliance (MNU) Leader - Rauff Hakeem Headquarters - Kandy Ideology - Muslim socialism, Right-Wing, Isolationalism United National Party (UNP) Leader - Ranil Wickremesinghe Headquarters - Sirikotha Idology - Centre-Right, Conservatism, Liberal conservatism Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (People's Liberation Front) (JVP) Leader - Somawansa Amarasinghe Headquarters - Colombo Ideology - Communism, Marxism-Leninism, nationalism The NP won the elections with 42%, the MP being closest behind them with 28% of all votes. Behind them are the UNP, JVP and MNU with 13%, 10% and 7%, respectively. The UNP, JVP and NP have decided to collaborate in the government, leaving them effectively with 65% of all votes. This is barely below the minimum required for a total majority government instead of a simple majority. With the NP being the largest party in the ruling coalition, Mahinda Rajapaksa will be the President for six years. UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe will be appointed Prime Minister for the same duration. On another note, the government's first action is to construct additional dwellings for the immigrants. Currently, most are still being processed and living in temporary camps, but construction companies have already begun to expand several key cities, among them Colombo. Due to the magnitude of this undertaking, the government may request aid from companies based in the Kingdom of Cochin and other, Asian nations. ___________________________________ OOC: This following part is edited in, over time.
Treaty of Colombo Republic of Sri Lanka - Kingdom of Cochin Optional Defense Pact Preamble: We, the sovereign nations of the Kingdom of Cochin (KoC) and the Republic of Sri Lanka (RSL), in order to form a stable organization, ensure peace and security, and create a base for a history of friendship and trade relations do hereby establish this optional treaty of military and political cooperation. Article 1- Sovereignty- Each of the nations bearing a signature on this treaty hereby declares that they will uphold the values and honor of said signatories’ sovereignty. They agree not to invade, interfere in internal affairs, or oppress the other signatory that partakes in this treaty. Those with questionable motives are already being sorted out. You do not have to worry about any political continuation. Anyone attempting to resurrect the GDR or a rebellion against the VDL or Gothic Empire will be subject to our justice system and imprisoned or sent back to Germany for judgement. We do of course take the possibility of these people trying to resurrect their state very seriously, and thus will be implementing strict gun laws, in addition to other measures to naturalize these people as well as possible. In addition, they will only receive limited citizenship for the time being, and thus are unable to vote, but have all most rights provided by our state. This is another measure to make sure they do not lobby to install an anti-Germany party in the government. You are always free to send observers into Sri Lanka, though we currently are in the process of expanding current cities to accomodate for the rising numbers. Lynneth
Construction continues, Immigration troubles Even while the government is in the middle of organising our country - the police force will receive its first operational helicopter today - constrution of accomodations for the many millions of refugees is continuing. Despite this, however, teports say that upwards of 500,000 people have already been refused entry into the country on grounds of "subversive long-term plans" or "relation-damaging potential for secessionist actions or attempts to reclaim the home nation", to give some of the lengthier and more serious reasons. The people who have been refused entry will either receive a free trip back to their homeland or a partially paid-for ticket on a ship to one of the following nations: France, Italy, Sweden, Cochin, China, rebel Army, Slavorussia, Finland, Transvaal, the HAE, J Andres or any Canadian country. At the moment, more than 2,500 people have been arrested for illegally crossing from a port or airport into Sri Lanka territory, while almost 5,000 cases of theft have been reported in refugee camps. "Things are not as clean or easy as they may seem", said a government official on a press conference earlier today. According to him, only a tenth of the expected refugees have been processed by now, the rest awaiting procession on board of a ship or in one of the makeshift camps built near several airports. "We may have to reroute a significant number of people through Cochin or any other nation willing to take them in for a time", said the official later. Lynneth
Expansion of Colombo Harbour With great numbers of ships carrying refugees arriving daily, the harbour of Colombo is slowly but surely overfilling. To solve this problem, which will most likely continue even after the mass-immigration simply due to larger population numbers, the government has decided to expand the harbour of Colombo. Especially the southern sections of the city's coast are in the crosshairs, as the shallower sea here would make it easier to build a new artificial port. No budget has been released for the project at the time, but experts estimate that it will cost at least 50 million Rupees just to construct the quays. This figure does not include the warehouses and other buildings that would need to be added, together with new land area for them to be built on and space for containers to be stored. All in all an ambitious, but necessary project. More than necessary, in fact, as the Colombo harbour was nearing its peak capacities even before the influx of new potential citizens. Even without these masses, an expansion was inevitable; and perhaps it is good that this is being done now rather than in some years. Spaceport under construction Just yesterday, the previously announced spaceport's construction began with the Prime Minister leading the literally gound-breaking ceremony in which he steered an excavator. After striking the earth in this way, proper construction commenced. Current plans are to create at least three launch pads for space shuttles, including construction and maintenance facilities to ensure maximum efficiency for the project. There also are rumours that the government wants to construct the launch capacities for massive rockets such as the Saturn V rocket. These rumours have neither been confirmed nor denied by the government and we will thus simply have to wait until it happens. Perhaps they'll build the shuttle launch pads large enough to launch these rockets as well; This might be the cheaper alternative to building a fourth pad just for the big one, says rocket scientist and astronomer Ray Jayawardhana. It would also enable additional and more frequent launches, which would lower the effective cost per launch noticably. Whether our leadership thought of this isn't known, but we'll find out soon enough. Edited August 20, 2010 by Lynneth
Lynneth
*Classified* "Well..." "Europe is at peace. Again." "I can't help but think that our attempt at rebellion was at a very wrong time, and done very badly." "We lost. So, yeah. It was done badly." "Ah, whatever. We're safe now. Sri lanka is our new home, and that of our people." Alexander leaned back in his chair, hands folded behind his head. "Things are bad right now, though." In the meantime, Laura was busy looking at several holographic screens. They had recently been installed "I know. There's nowhere near enough space for everybody." "The new government'll be able to take care of that though." "Of course it will. But that will take a lot of time, perhaps more than some are willing to wait." "Mhm. I do hope no revolts start." "To be honest...I somewhat doubt it. The government seems to be rather competent in this regard. And they've built a lot in record time. They're using our tech as well." "For example?" "The holograms, if you can call them that, or some maglev designs. Underground though." "Geez. But there really isn't much space on this island. They have to build some things underground." "I'm just hoping that they don't destabilize anything." "They've got good architects. I'm sure they'll be careful enough and use the appropriate materials." "If you say so." "I say so." She grinned at Alexander. He, however, still seemed to be somewhat depressed. Laura moved away from the holograms to her partner and hugged him from behind, arms lightly around his neck, her head on his - he was still sitting, after all. "C'mon, cheer up. There's better places..." "It's my place of birth, the nation in which I grew up. And they're desecrating it, defiling it with their mere presence... I just want to..!" "Alex, no." The young woman put a hand onto his mouth. "Don't say things like that. As much as you loved the South, I loved and adored it more. I've seen every city and village in my life working for Leclerc. Seeing all this taken from me...hurts." He removed the hand gently, as to be able to speak again. "But shutting it away doesn't do us any good, either.." "I'm not shutting it away. I'm keeping the good memories for times when I'm sad." "And the others?" "Mhmm...They are a lesson from which we must learn." "I see..." "Well. They're building some stuff in the mountains. Some underground bunkers, though probably nowhere as sizable as Leclerc's complex in the Alps." "Better than nothing, I'd guess. You think we can get some space there for ourselves?" "I'm not sure the current leadership would like genetic experiments." "Just minor ones...not on humans." "Heh...Maybe we can persuade them." "If not, I'll have to do things elsewhere...Perhaps once some of our plans have moved along." "Well, not exactly our plans. Leclerc's." "I know. Ambitious man..." "A man to look up to. He was many things. A great scientist, a good father..." "Mhm." _________________________ *Still Classified* Indeed, the cities weren't the only places where construction was ongoing. With technology taken and re-engineered from GDR-designs, missile defense systems and an SDI were being built, while in strategic locations, silos with kinetic killer-missiles were planned, to be used against both ships and incoming WMDs. It was but a small part in making Sri Lanka a highly defensible nation, one that would rarely, if ever leave this golden cage it wanted to build for itself. Many things were being planned, and making Sri Lanka a non-target was imperative for this. _________________________ Police Service active Today, the last men of the Sri Lankan police service have been sworn in. At the time, they're mostly armed with MP5 SMGs, but they are scheduled to receive heavier equipment as factories come online. As of now, there already exists an artist's impression of what the standard police armour may look like: At the time, however, focus is still on building the cities. New technologies are being incorporated in them as well, enabling previously unseen things such as what some call 'holograms', essentially pictures that are apparently suspended in the air. Projectors for this are rather sophisticated, however, and will only be added slowly. Within the last weeks, space for millions has been made while in the most suitable parts of our island, vertical farms are being constructed. The new, larger population needs food, and these vertical cities are intended to feed them all. The first will come online within a few months, according to government sources. Lynneth
Urban expansion ongoing Even a year after the first refugees started pouring into Sri Lanka, things haven't changed much, it seems. However, improvements are there, and they're visible: Almost five million additional homes for up to 20 million inhabitants have been built in record time, though taxing the government's monetary reserves severely. It is expected that once this period of construction is over, a focus will be on reducing the national debt which is already 80 billion and rising. Experts expect the debt to rise to well over 500 billion before the economy begins to improve and taxes bring in more than is spent. It may take years and decades for this debt to be paid, but the government said that it already is doing its best to minimise spendings. This is especially seen in the military, where a mere 30,000 men have been allowed to join the service. Both the navy and airforce are training on simulators, because actual ships and planes are nowhere in sight. Militarily, Sri Lanka is relatively weak, but the treaty with cochin will surely deter any potential hostile nation from invading. Regardless, almost half the population has homes by now, and within the next year or two, the rest will have proper housing as well. Then, the Western Province will most likely resemble a massive hive, with most of the housing and skyscrapers being built there. The government expects that up to 50 million people will be able to live there thanks to superb use of what little space there is. This means that the rest of Sri Lanka will be relatively free of city-sprawls, preserving much of the natural beauty in the process.
Lynneth
Construction largely finished, Sri Lanka's GDP on the rise After long months and years of toil, the government finally announced the completion of the construction project begun to help all those refugees from Europe that arrived shortly after our independence. Today, more than a hundred million people have living space on our small island, with a vast majority of almost 60 million living in the urban regions of Colombo, Gampaha and Kalatura. Of note is that the buildings not only go hundreds of meters upwards into the sky, but also stretch dozens of meters below the surface, raising the available space considerably while also providing bunkers and shelters during times of war. With both living- and working space secured, unemployment is falling considerably, while the GDP is on the rise. Some experts fear heavy inflation due to people earning more money in only a relatively short amount of time, though others argue that this is offset by the fact that they can spend the money on more things, now that businesses and factories are opening and selling goods. All in all, however, many expect the Sri Lankan currenty to stay somewhat weak in comparison to most of the world's other currencies. As more money is earned by the people, the government collects more taxes, obviously. A major announcement has been the intention to make Sri Lanka a nation capable of landing on the moon - once domestic problems are largely taken care of and money can be redirected appropriately. Additionally, there are talks about finally strengthening the military and purchasing or building airplanes and ships for national defense. Though no exact plans have been made public, it is expected that Cochin or China may be approached regarding military armament, if it will be 'outsourced'. Kaiser Martens
An unusual visit? "Kaiser" Martens drops by Sri Lanka in his private plane As Mainland Europe settles to peace, it would appear that Martens the Elder has visited Sri Lanka, in no kind of official visit but rather to spend some of his free time, curious regarding the new Country as well as its German minority. Although he fought for the VDL loyalists, he in fact refused to fight against the Red Army and only engaged French Forces, for he still considers these people their Brothers in spite of differences. Apparently he wants to find a place that, while exotic, may have a few things to make him feel at home. "Just showing up for some resting time, maybe some beer." He says from behind his sunglasses. Lynneth
*Semi-classified* The Sri Lankan government attempted keeping Martens' visit as low-key as they could. This was mostly achieved due to most of the major newspapers belonging to the state or ranking politicans of several parties. The reason why this was done was simple: If it became widely known that the 'Kaiser' was visiting, riots could break out and rampage through the freshly-built nation. Security was of the utmost importance and thus few would find out about this (in)famous man being in the nation - mostly through underground news. After all, of the 109 million people in Sri Lanka, almost 80% were German refugees. Officially, they were a minority and their language recognised as such, but, well...There were a whole goddamned lot of them. But with most teachers, policemen and the like being Sri Lankan, assimilation would be inevitable. It was only a matter of centuries. Some important people were informed about Martens. Among them were Laura and Alexander, who by now had established themselves rather firmly in the corporate landscape of Sri Lanka. The young woman was, as before, head of Sostra Holdings, a conglomerate of a number of other companies. One of these was Oberone, specialising in Bejeweled versions, touchscreen interfaces and apps for various kinds of smartphones. Alexander was CEO of this company, after a few strategic moves in the corporate landscape, supported by Sostra. Now, Martens would probably go into a restaurant at some point during his stay. There, he would meet a man he knew, but most likely wouldn't recognise, mostly because this man was wearing completely different attire. He nonchalantly sat down on the same table as the old German, on the other end of the table. No explanations, no introduction. He just sat down. "Welcome in Sri Lanka, Mr. Martens. I hope you've enjoyed your stay so far." Edited September 16, 2010 by Lynneth
Kaiser Martens
Martens was not wearing his usual uniform, so he kept a low profile. However, now and then, someone would indeed look at him as if he had recognized him. Most of the time they simply stayed away respectfully. For Martens, it was nothing new - people watched him wherever he would go unless if disguised. He was surprised by the amount of Germans he found. The Government believed that they'd be assimilated by the Locals, but Martens thought that it'd be the other way around, that Sri Lankans would be assimilated by the Germans for the most part. In his brain, it was just all about maths. After a while it dawned on him that the country was like an Apartheid, yet ironically the "whites" would be in the position of the blacks. Almost everyone who held any position whatsoever were Sri-lankan, and the vast German Majority was held back. He could feel the political distate in his mouth even through the delicious food. He doesn't recognize the man nor realizes his relevance. He thinks that it must be either a fan or a hater - that's how it normally was for Martens. He nods respectfully. "This is an amazing country." But it couldn't be determined if he was meaning to use this negatively or positively, probably a bit of both. Lynneth
"Sri Lanka is indeed amazing." When the waiter came, he ordered what could be described as 'breadcrumbed and fried veal scallop' with french fries, with water and orange juice. "They managed to build living space for millions within a mere few years. And...Well, I know what you're thinking right now. I see how your eyes are wandering over the many Germans, your mind doing the maths. Yes, they're in the majority, four times as many as natives. However, a number of them are...willing to be assimilated, grateful that they've been given a place to live. Cuisine will of course persist, as will a number of other cultural factors. But that's something to be seen in the future." He smiles a strangely flat smile, one that might be interpreted as 'I could break your neck and would love to do that, but I'm restraining myself because it's better for both of us.' Certainly a rather long interpretion, but quite valid. "Anyways. I know you, and you know me, but not as I look right now. I imagine a certain picture might help you remember." Out of the suit's right pocket, he pulled a picture of someone Martens would most certainly know. "My name is Alexander, by the way Alexander Leclerc, though you may know me as Alexander Tovil Yakiya-Toba. It's good to meet you, face to face, Michel."
Kaiser Martens
"In any case, they're all old enough to know what's best for 'em." He says, in a tone that may resemble that of a parent speaking of those who used to be his children, now grow old. Like most parents, he thought he knew what was best with deep conviction, but unlike many, he knew what his limits should be. He ends up asking for the same that Alexander requests, as it seems like a good meal. "What I don't get is why they just didn't move into a place mostly unpopulated, so as to do their own thing. But I guess that they liked the comfort of being an Island...well, things look like they'll work out, anyway. Besides if I'm correct you guys tend to be interested in extraterrestrial activities. Or so say some voices." He paid little attention to that cryptic smile, this was his way to tell him that, while he didn't care, neither he was going to ever go out of his way again to confront him, or any of them at that. It was as if it were a simple divorce they'd be dealing with. "Alex, huh...hm. That was a good rebellion that you made. I thought that you guys were in fact going to win. We thought that France was going to do much better in their war and provide you then with an advantage. I do not mean to speak of the cliche Franch military failure criticism, but if they had been a bit smarter and luckier they could have gone all the way to Berlin, that is, if you didn't get there yourself first. But well. It's better this way. No nukes were fired in the end."
Lynneth
"They moved here because I and a friend of mine organised the movement to come here. The size of this Island is a factor in our future plans, as are many other things that haven't yet been revealed, but will be in the future. None of them being detrimental to the rest of the world, as far as I can see, by the way. Now, about the extraterrestrial activities...We're interested in landing on the moon, and building the appropriate infrastructure. We wish to build a space station much like the one the GDR had built, using the nearby Launch Loop under Cochin ownership. Further plans are being thought of, but nothing is sure. That's all I can say on that." He smiles, this time more genuine, as the food arrived. Martens would recognise it as Viennese Schnitzel with fries. "We could've done the rebellion much better. Secured more support from people who turned out to be loyalist, stayed more peaceful at first, attempted to keep the idiotic and meddling Slavs out...A lot of things could've gone better. But I'm glad no nukes were fired. However, there's an advantage to us losing and moving elsewhere: We were able to turn Sri Lanka into one gigantic social experiment. Communism didn't work, and it's hated throughout the world. So we're trying to come from another direction and be more subtle about things. But telling you more about that would spoil the fun of watching things unfold... By the way, you do know Fjodor Leclerc, don't you? Leader of Canada and for a time the greatest scientist in both it and later the GDR? I'm his genetic son, though created by technology that would provoke an outrage by most of the world."
Kaiser Martens
The Schitzel looks just like the ones he had eaten through his childhood, now so distant. He smiles fondly. "The Slavs. They were out for blood from day one. Even as Northern Germany we weren't eager to MDP them due to their lust for war, even if they would have, as they did, defended us gladly. I don't understand those people. They say that in their land, they use ENGLISH as their national language. Can you understand that? I was expecting Ukranian or Czechslovak in my mind, but...hell, I feel France is the only normal country left in Europe at this point. Maybe it's best for you to be out of that crazed area." And he was sincere as he spoke. He too had been growing tired with the constant wars there. He had changed. "I always thought that about GDR. I thought that if it weren't for its Red Labels it'd have done much better. Leclerc, hm? I remember him. I guess that the war was a screwed up continuation of Canada's invasion on Nordland. At least from that angle."
Lynneth
"The Slavs are just stupid, ignorant and...I don't know, they're plain weird. Did you know they turned their de facto capital into a carbon copy of Berlin under Visari? Ah, well. Europe is crazy. Nobody's sane anymore, not even the French. I miss it, though mostly...Mostly because I'm plain nostalgic. 'Back in my day' and whatnot, heh." Halfway done with his food, Alexander leaned back, drinking some orange juice. "About the GDR, it might have done better without all the communism, but Lynneth wanted to weed out the ignorant and stupid. Didn't work, evidently. And I don't think the war was any kind of continuation of Canada's invasion in the Netherlands. Back then it was still Saboria, and under Lynneth, who was then deposed and replaced by Leclerc. Father never started an unjust war from what I remember. Not once... Mhm. Would you like to know more about me? If so, just ask."
Kaiser Martens
"Yeah. Crazy indeed. I find that I have created the Slavic monster myself. But at least they're good friends and loyal allies. Gotta admit that. Though as far as Germanic Union is concerned...we plan on adopting more reasonable policies. Though it'll probably be like twenty years until a big change really shows to the naked eye." "What's up with that Lynneth anyway. Did he come with you guys over to the Island here? I'd have deleted all copies if it were up to me. He's probably like a virus you can't ever really get rid of by now. Leclerc leading instead of him was a much-welcome change..." "Hmm. I don't think I have many questions. Well, I am curious, but as you said, things would be spoiled if you told me about your plans. So I won't do that. Maybe you got anything to ask me?"
Lynneth
"I hope I'll live to see the changes you guys plan." He grinned, then continued to eat, stabbing some fries with his fork. "We have a full backup of his computer core and HDs available, but they're not plugged in. I'm not sure we'll ever plug him in again, but he's there. Just like you keep coming back." "I'll tell you a short bit about me, anyways. The short version. Basically, I'm a factory-made child with crazy genetic enhancements. I'm stronger, smarter, faster, et cetera than the average human, can learn more easily, acquire skills better. I also fancy myself a decent swordsman. And I have four ears." He looked around for a few moments, saw that nobody was looking at the corner they were sitting in, and lifted his toupée, revealing practically the same hairstyle underneath, only...with cat-ears. He put the fake hair back on, looking completely normal once more. "Someone had a cat-person fetish, and I suspect it might be the old !@#$%^& whose core components we haven't assembled. he also initiated the project that culminated in the creation of me and Laura, and he did that back in Saboria. Technology's moves quite a distance now, heh." "Anyways, questions for you...Something that I've been wondering about for ages, just how old are you? And how do you live to long? I mean, you look like you barely aged a day from the days of Saboria from what I know, looking at pictures and such. And you've been rampaging through Europe earlier than that."
Kaiser Martens
He is lightly surprised. Not at the technological engineering itself, but rather at the ears. Who could possibly go out of his way to create them instead of doing something more productive? "That...is a surprise. I wonder if he too designed helmets to suit them ears." He grins. "We too used to have genetic technology similar to that which you describe. Right now, we are researching on it again. It had been lost, then you guys did it again nearly from scratch. Now with the few remains we had from your research and the ancient Silver Research, we're striving to create improvements again but...that will surely take at least a decade. Your question is related to this. There are numerous myths about me, which I haven't cared to dispel, for they frighten enemies. I had received a special retroviral genetic enhancement therapy. That is why I have physical enhancements similar to your own, and why I do not seem to age. Soon it will be Fifty Years since the Silver Revolution. Papers say I was only 18 when it took place, I ought to be sixtyeight, but I still look like I'm in my late thirties, because I was thirtyone when I received the therapy sometime after the Revolution took place. So I'm about to turn eightytwo. It is unknown how long I will live for, in any case. I hope to reintroduce very limited genetic therapy soon so as to justify my existance before the people, but if research does not happen in time I may have to dissappear in order to prevent trouble, or I could change my identity, I don't know. In any case, the day I die, they'll have a Second Kaiser Martens available to replace me, but I don't know if it'll be used. You know, sometimes I creep myself out. But I'm glad I'm not gonna live forever. I'm starting to get tired. It seems that while the body does not age, somehow mentality ages and one ends up acting like a tired old man sometimes in spite of it all. If I get to 130 or so that'll be something..." ooc: lolnoncannon
Lynneth
Before Martens replied, Alex threw in, "I didn't mention I have technological augmentation as well, such as titanium-reinforced bones and the like, did I...? Well, I have that kind of stuff," shrugging afterwards as to let the older man continue. "Now, I think that our genetic shens were and are somewhat more advanced than the ones you used to have...Or did you periodically muck around with more than 200 different subjects at once, giving them a variety of animal traits for !@#$% and giggles? Because that's what the men under Leclerc did. Hundreds and perhaps thousands of subjects were made, tested and euthanised over the years to perfect the technology of genetic manipulation, the culmination of which is, well, me. Anyways...You look like you're twenty or thirty. Not even close to seventy...Hm. but I can imagine very well that you feel older as time goes on. Your brain continues to change, adapt and work, just like anyone else's, and you thus acquire knowledge, wisdom and whatnot. In addition, while your body may not age, your brain will most likely think it's aging, simply because you're keeping track of the time. If worse comes to worst, we could probably make a new body for you sometime along the line...I'd think within five years or so, depending on how fast construction of our latest not-so-secret lab goes. But...you know how it goes. Delays here, delays there and suddenly you're twice above your budget." He leaned back once more, almost finished with the food. "Mhm. I'm onnly about...ten years old or so, by the way. My initial growth was vastly accelerated, don't ask me about the specifics, I have no idea how they do that. Now I'm set to reach an age of eighty or ninety with relative ease, due to a body that's always healthy. Now that I think about it, I'll probably outlive you, unless you get a new body or something...Heh, but that would reinforce your vampire-shtick. Laura won't live quite as long, unfortunately. She was modified only after she was born...when she was fourteen or so, I think. Her genetic and technologic augmentations aren't entirely as...'natural' as mine." Sarah Tintagyl
As Martens and Alex talked there was the sudden sound of quiet clapping from somewhere inside, it would cut off Martens' speech and if Alex began to talk, his as well. Someone was watching them, but they were in the corner, no one was around, no one was even looking at them. Suddenly, in addition to the clapping there was the distinct sound of laughing. A very quiet laugh, but a laugh nevertheless. It started quiet and began to build volume until the ice in their water began to vibrate and clink loudly against the sides of the glass. "Yes, Leclerc and Martens could be considered to have done just the same things. Monsieur Leclerc made monsters out of science and Monsieur Martens..." Martens would feel a sudden chill underneath his chin as if lithe fingers just ran under his chin. "...He created monsters out of politics, out of war, and out of other things. Well, monster is perhaps being to hard on what it actually feels like." The laugh returned again as a light aura of blue light began to form near Alex and his guest. Slowly the aura began to build, small snowflakes inside began to twirl around forming legs, arms, a chest, a neck, and finally a face as the long blonde hair fell from the scalp and a woman stood in front of both of them. Beautiful as the snow winds of Finland of whence she came. Her outfit was a white smoking dress, as the actresses wore in the lounges and salons of the early previous century. She smiled and leaned over on the table with her hands on her chin and smiled. "Gentlemen. Care if I join?" Tintagyl pulled up a chair and crossed her legs, resting her head on her right hand finally. "I love genetic conversation. Especially when one combines the seemingly unrealistic with the near impossible. But how are you two doing this beautiful night, Alex, the famed Revolutionary of Germany and the dreaded Kaiser, the Empress killer, sitting down for drinks. And I trust Laura is doing well, its been a long time." OOC: NC of course. Edited September 16, 2010 by Sarah Tintagyl
Kaiser Martens
He shivers and smiles happily, recognizing her. He nods respectfully, with a mix of affection, devotion, and rivalry. "My Valkyrie. You have arrived. I did not expect the pleasure of your visit." He looks at her, and it'd be easy to tell that if anyone could tame the warrior that is Martens, it'd be her. But as it was, she preferred him to run loose, as if making him quietly settle down would spoil the fun of the world, as if it were like a bird in a cage too small. "You ought to tell US how exactly you managed your special effects sometime. You been to the Temple of Perkunos again, I bet." He starts to eat his Schnitzel, and after being done with the small first piece he asks her, "Shall you have anything yourself?" And then he goes on. Lynneth
"Miss Tintagyl, how nice, yet unexpected your visit is. Quite interesting application of active stealth technology, by the way. You need to tell me who your tailor is," said the youngest of the now three people, smiling. "I'm quite fine, as is Laura, leading Sostra holdings and whatnot. If you wish to eat anything, just tell the waiter. I'll pay." Having finished his food relatively swiftly, he stretched slightly, wondering what the Valkyrie of Peace could contribute to the discussion.
