These 1,000 he knew formed the most hardened, fanatical and loyal corp of the Christian Libration Army or CLA. They stood, dressed in flowing white robes sporting a large golden cross in front. Most were unarmed but a few wielded AK-47s and 74s. "Warriors of God, hear me! We are led by weak men, men who refuse to take back our homeland, men who fail to protect our culture and way of life and worse of all, men who worship gilded idles! Let us take the Mongol Federation for the 1 True God and then let us retake Mongolia!"

The crowd burst into cheer but absent were guns being fired into the air, disciplined as they were, the few armed refused to waste ammo in trivial celebration.

"From here we shall march! From here we shall drive out the the weak men who dare call themselves khans and rase the Holy Cross over the cities. Who is with me?"

The crowd responds in unison, "We are!"

"Then let us issue the call to arms!

5 hours later in New Ulaanbaatar:

No 1 knew what was going on. At 1 moment the city was bustling, construction showing the Mongol Federation's rapid growth, the next the Great Mongol Temple and the Buddhist Temple of Peace, the largest Buddhist places of worship in the Mongol Federation, were being racked by explosions. As emergency personnel were dispatched to the temples, the New Ulaanbaatar Mosque suffered the same fate. Watching from the Federal Palace, Batukhan looked on open mouthed. Stuttering he turned to his advisers, "Wh- What is go- going on?! The city is on fire fire..."

"Yes sir," replied an aid, "We're already receiving reports of similar attacks in progress across the country."

Batukhan's face drained of color, "What?!"

Another aid stepped forward, hanging up her cell phone, "We just received word that unknown forces have breached the security zone of Temüjin Station."

"That's our largest military instillation!"

Yes sir, I just got off the phone with Gen. Al of High Command, they say the garrison is holding out."

"So the base is still ours?"

9PM, somewhere in southern Almaty:

"Thomas!"

"Yes?" Thomas turns to see a breathless young man running to him.

"Sir, it seems the government got a distress single out before we knocked out communications in the capital, we have reports of Cochin troops massing on the border. Orders?"

"Order the rail lines cut and guarded, that should slow any Cochin advance across the border. I have plans of my own that should keep the government off balance.

"Any word on our attack on Temüjin Station?"

"Yes sir, we breached the security perimeter and took the Air Sector but they managed to reform their lines before we could take the Army Sector and Command and Control Center."

"So they still hold the base?"

Yes, sir, most of it. From the looks of it, they'll launch a counter attack soon, maybe within a few hours. I suspect they'll retake Air Sector. We're trying to get the assets we captured out now."

"Thank you..."

"Commander Peter, sir."

"Dismissed."

"Sir!" Comd. Peter gave a smart salute and quickly ran off to his next destination. Thomas then turned and walked over to his waiting car. Getting inside he taped the drivers shoulder, "Get me to staging area Charley."

The leading echelons of the 15th Infantry Regiment reached the Border Guard outposts along Mongol Federation. After the preliminary message there was no subsequent communications despite several efforts. An Aerial reconnaissance was ordered and an ELINT Merat crossed the Mongol Federation Air Space to conduct a communications sweep to try to figure out what happened. The Kingdom of Cochin after all does not want to invade another nation without cause.

Mongol Federation/Kingdom of Cochin border:

Looking at his radar screen, a CLA rebel noticed a contact approaching the border. As it came to within 5 miles of the border he radioed an airbase that the rebels had constructed for their captured aircraft from Temüjin Station, "This is Early Warning Station 5, Cochin contact approaching the border."

Receiving the warning, the commander of the airbase got on the base intercom, "All pilots man your aircraft for intercept, I repeat all pilots man your aircraft for intercept."

Within 10 minutes 2 F-15s soared into the sky and approached the enemy contact.

As the ELINT Merat detected the F15s it opened up communications with them,

"Mongol Federation, this is MR01345 from Royal Cochin Air Force. We are responding to a distress call from Mongol Federation. Please inform the status on the message. Over."

As the communications was opened the Merat started banking to take an egress path to exit the Mongol Federation air space, banking clearly to show the intent to leave airspace.

The lead pilot smiled, they had no idea they were hostile. On a secure channel he radioed base, "Enemy contact has misidentified us as Loyalist forces and is withdrawing, requesting orders."

"Engage if they remain in our airspace at intercept, if they manage to get across the border 1st, return to base."

The pilot frowned, "Roger that." He then radioed his wingman (OOC: still secure), "If we want this kill, we need to catch it before it leaves our airspace."

"Roger that, going to full military power."

The 2 jets flew ever faster, wether or not war between the CLA and Cochin started with this encounter would come down to a race.

The absence of replies and the increase in speed of the interceptors caused a few beads of worry sweat to break out in the air conditioned cabins of the Merat. The pilot communicated with the base station and conveyed the suspicion that the fighters seemed to be belonging to the rebel forces. Now the only thing to do was to get back to the Cochin Airspace which was not thankfully that far away, the entire sequence having started when the Merat was 5 miles out of Mongol Federation border.

The increase in speed of the intercepting jets was interpreted as coming to full military power and the Merat went into full power and dived to the ground to deny a missile lock to the interceptors. No escort fighters had been assigned for this mission, so they just had to trust their own skill to get back into Cochin Airspace. On their alert, the Air Defense Network along the border had been alerted and are now ready to shoot down the F15s if it ventured within the Cochin Airspace.

Warnings rang out, and the lead pilot quickly radioed his wingman, "SAMs just went active, this !@#$%^& isn't worth it. Return to base."

"Screw that, I'm going in for the kill."

"He hit the deck! You'll never get a lock."

"I'm almost in cannon range, time for a dog fight."

The lead pilot looked at his radar, "Be advised, they just left our airspace."

"I don't care..."

Finally in weapons range the 2nd pilot gets a bead on the Merat and opens fire as the lead pilot holds position just inside Mongol Federation airspace.

The cannon rounds struck at a few places in the rear fuselage and tail of the Merat as it struggled to maintain level flight path.

"MAYDAY, MAYDAY. This MR01345, we have been attacked by Mongol Federation Rebel Air Force. We need priority landing now."

Stricken but flight worthy, the Merat lumbered into the emergency airfield tasked to it by the Air Defense Network. Meanwhile a flight of 2 JM2s had lifted off and were maintaining patrol along the border airspace.

The following message was sent to Mongol Federation on all communication frequencies known to be used for civil, commercial, military and governmental purposes in Mongol Federation.
"This is the Kingdom of Cochin. We have been attacked unjustifiably by rebel air forces in your nation. The Kingdom urges you to maintain stability in your nation and not to violate security of your neighbors, unless you want retaliation brought upon you. A second act of intransigence would not be left non-retaliated."
Amazingly the 2nd pilot managed to survive the attack and upon landing was given a hero's welcome for forcing down the interloper. Meanwhile in the capital, Thomas led a daring raid on the Constitutional Convention taking the delegates hostage.

On every major news station in the nation, he appeared. As the people watched on in horror a delegate was roughly dragged into view and forced to his knees, a robed guard leveling an AK-47 at his back, "This man is a source of weakness for the Mongol people. Only I, armed with the power of God can lead our people to greatness!" Thomas then looks coldly at the hostage, pull out his sidearm, a Glock 32, placed it against the hostage's temple and pulled the trigger. With a crack and flash, the hostage's head jerked violently to the side before he fell dead, his brains and blood splattering on Thomas' side. Calmly looking up, Thomas smiled, "I'll keep killing them until the false khans capitulate to my rule."

After a few hours, Thomas, now clean, once more appeared on the national airwaves, "Still the false khans refuse to surrender. And so still must the hostages suffer." An older Mongol woman, as before, is shoved into view and presented for the nation. "This delegate is from 1 of the oldest tribes, tracing her lineage back to Mongol unification under Temüjin." Thomas once more pulls his sidearm, this time walking behind her as the guard backs off, places the gun at the base of the neck and fires. The woman jerks forward as Thomas, this time unblemished, continues to stare into the camera. "Surrender!"

After the camera stops rolling, Thomas pulls his 2nd, Jacob, to the side, "The government will not stand by as we systematically execute the delegates. Knowing Batukhan and his ilk, he and his 'khans' will ether bow to our demands or come in, guns blazing, to hell with the hostages. I intend to leave lest I find myself here and the 2nd scenario comes to pass as I expect it will. You will remain to avoid suspicion."

"So you intend to sacrifice me?!"

"If I did, do you think I'd tell you of my plan? No, they'll not move until the next execution. It'll take at least an hour for them to get in place, so wait 1/2 an hour. If they capitulate, my absence will allow you to claim the glory of victory, if not you'll still have 1/2 an hour to get clear yourself."

"God's will be done," Jacob bows and walks away.

New Ulaanbaatar, inside the Constitutional Convention building:

Jacob appears on tv screens across the nation, "Still you refuse!" He walks over to a guard, the camera following him reveling a young 20something Mongol woman, takes his weapon, an old AK-47 and opens up on the hapless woman. Turning to the camera, he smiles, "Do you not know our resolve?

Outside the Constitutional Convention building:

Lt. Gen. Yesugei looks away from the communications station with a look of disgust. After a few moments he looks to his men, For the Mongol Federation... For the great Khan Batukhan, we shall drive out these rebels, we shall deny them this victory!" He then turns to an aid, "Gather the general staff, I have orders that need to be given."

Temüjin Station:

Thomas looked on in disbelief, he knew that a loyalist counter attack on Air Sector had, against all odds, been repulsed but this wasn't what he expected to find when he arrived. Rather then a battered and dejected force, in aw at their luck, he found a jubilant force, at nearly full strength and now in control of the CCC and even a small barracks building at the edge of Army Sector! "Well... This is... Not what I expected."
A solder, sent to escort him around the base, smiled, "God himself gave us the strength to overcome. If you can spare reinforcements we can take the base and..."
"...With it the entire khanate," Thomas finished.
"Yes sir, the local forces here are sparse, it's why we were able to use it as a staging area. Take the base and resistance will fall apart here."
Thomas smiled an evil smile, "For that matter, it'll cripple loyalist forces across the country."

OOC: I'm at a lose here. The rebels will win but how and do they win this battle or do they get driven off and have to come back later?

Cochin, please launch you attack as I PMed you. Nothing big, just a small counter attack to some terrorist attack on a fright train station or something. I need to escalate this but need a reason for the rebels to do so.

OOC: I understand that, that's why I said RP a minor attack on a relatively important target and then retaliate with a raid on a rebel base of some sort (a radar station maybe?). I just need cause for the rebels to escalate things, you don't need to RP some game changing decisive battle.

I'd do it myself, but I don't know what you have and don't want to RP an attack on a non-existent target.

OOC: Okay, then give me the name of a town (RL) along our border, I will RP out an incident in which my forces would cross the border to engage a few of your rebel troops, ostensibly with high ideals but technically an invasion, k?

A message would come from Zargathia in the form of a television broadcast. On it, Gabriela Sokolov, Knight of the Third Circle of the Zargathian priory of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaller (and the Archbishop of Zargathia's granddaughter) appeared to make a statement.

- "Citizens of the world. Today, a great injustice has taken place, where insurgents have taken up arms against the Mongols, claiming to act in the name of God. This is, however, a blatant lie. To their leaders, i say only this: You have committed murder, broken Commandments while claiming to act in the name of God. For this degree of wrongful use of God's name, on behalf of my grandfather the Archbishop, i name thee heretics. For the act of misleading Christians into taking up arms against their neighbors and brothers, in the name of the Zargathian priory of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaller, i name thee enemies of the Faith. To the people i say but this: Leave these false Prophets whom only seek to guide thee in the arms of Satan, and make you act against the Bible. Repent, return to the embrace of the flock, and God shall be forgiving. That is all."
