Michael McBride
With the host nation now settled with Vereinigte Deutsche Länder, it is time for nations to sign up for Cup of Nations III. As with Cup of Nations II, this is aiming to be a 32 team tournament with 8 groups, 4 teams per group. Each team will play each team in their group once and then the top two teams from each group will advance on to the knockout stages. The 16 team knockout stage will be win-or-go-home format, penalty kicks determining a winner in case of a draw through extra time. Each team is required to submit the following information: Nation Name: National Team Name: (ex. York is the Crimson Lions, Isara is the Darkstars, Arctica is the Lemurs, Louisiana is the Pelicans, etc. Can also be "(Nation Name) National Team") Continent: (what continent your nation is on) Formation: (ex. 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 3-4-3, 5-4-1, etc. Do some research if you don't know much about these and find one that fits your style the best.) Playing Style: (ex. Very Offensive, Offensive, Normal, Cautious, Defensive, Very Defensive. Pick one of those six. Playing style should reflect your formation... for instance, a Very Offensive style with a 5-4-1 simply won't work.) Aggression: (ex. Cautious, Normal, Bruise. Pick one of those three. How aggressive your team is in going for tackles, etc. Teams who play a "bruise" style will generally get more yellow cards than teams who play a "cautious" style, but can also create more chances for themselves through turnovers.) 23 Man Roster: (Your national team's roster. This can simply be a list of names with their positions next to it, or you can get as detailed as you want. Must be 23 men, must be made up. If anyone is found using actual players or national teams, you will be forced to re-submit. Please bold your starters so that I know who starts and so that it accurately reflects your formation.) Penalty Takers: (5 players who would be your penalty takers in the case of a penalty shootout) OOC: Wow, half of you don't know how to read, do you? I said bold your mother$%&@ing starters. Jesus Christ. Edited July 14, 2010 by Pravus Ingruo

Coach Robert Niowanggiyan said in an interview that he was looking forward to what the tournament would bring: - "It is a unique learning experience. As the newcomer we are ranked last: All the pressure is for the opponent as they are the ones expected to win, and we hope to use our underdog position to our full advantage. We're playing to win, and won't be making it easy for 'em!" After being thrown into the deep against Cochin (3-0 loss), the team had been changed in several key positions for the friendly against the USC (1-0 loss). Though the match had eventually been lost, the #23 of the world had to work hard, showing coach Niowanggiyan's reputation for focusing on a rugged defense. The third friendly match played pitted the Red Dragons against the equally ranking team of the Alaskan Union, recording the first victory of the Zargathian National Team at 2-0 with goals from Virtanen and Kim. Only seven players from the 23-man roster that won Cup of Nations II return for the first one outside of their home country. New manager Stephen Harland has sided with youth for this tournament, “building for the future”, he says. York football fans can only hope that he’s built for now as well. The Crimson Lions will enter the tournament playing a very offensive 3-3-1-3 formation. According to sources, the Crimson Lions have been working on their passing more than anything else, as the attacking formation will cause them to attempt to play most of the match in the opponent’s end of the pitch, and any misplaced pass or dispossession could cause an immediate and overwhelming counter attack. Zachary McCarthy will obviously be a huge key to this attacking success, but Joe Bogley, the 22 year old superstar for Real Rochester who’s expected to start at CAM, will be key as well, feeding the forwards for the attack and expected to get in on the action himself as well. John Jacobson has beaten out his Real Rochester teammate Danny Wheeler for the starting nod in net. Though many consider Wheeler more skilled, Jacobson is riding a hot streak right now and has performed better than Wheeler has lately, both in league and international play. However, should Jacobson struggle on the main stage, don’t be surprised to see Wheeler inserted for him. On the back line are where the Crimson Lions are the oldest, but also the most experienced. Carl Le will anchor the back line, and the captain’s cool head will look to stifle any attacks that opponents manage to launch on the squad. Two York City stalwarts flank him in Arthur Edling and Robert Labant. Labant is the team’s oldest player at 33, and should pacing prove a problem on the wings for him, Rori Barnard provides some more youth at the RB position. The midfield is where York will win or lose games, and it is also one of their youngest areas on the pitch. The projected opening-day starters are Adão Valadão, Aygun Raman, Oscar Willman, and Joe Bogley. Valadão and Raman are both 19, Willman is 21, and Bogley is 22. If Bogley is unable to contribute to the attack, or starts losing his cool under the pressure of the opponents, veteran David Axelrod, known more for his passing touch than his scoring prowess, is able to be inserted behind Bogley at CAM. Up front the attack will be led by the always dangerous Zachary McCarthy. Look for him to once again lead the squad in scoring, but don’t be surprised if he gets some help from others up front. Kelly and Atterstam can both be dangerous in their own right, especially with Kelly’s speed that nearly matches McCarthy’s. Also, should the Crimson Lions go down and need a goal, look for Lage Sändh to be inserted into the game. Sändh also possesses incredible scoring prowess despite only being 20. Him next to McCarthy could mean bad things for opponents. Should the match go to penalties, the Crimson Lions will put forth McCarthy, Sändh, Edling, Le, and Raman. The first four all have the ability to stay cool under pressure and have good scoring touch, while Raman is known for his freekicks, and hopes to translate that into penalty kick glory. Kaede Alexeivich
Isaran Darkstars Analysis For this tournament, the Darkstars have changed little; in fact, the roster has not changed since Cup of Nations II. However, in Cup of Nations III, the Darkstars will be taking a highly defensive position, with the formation being 4-3-3. The Darkstars are looking to use their powerful defense to deter any attempts on the goal while their strikers, specifically the famous Radi Jaeger, stay upfield to score the goals. The lead defender of the team, Erich von Dietrich, says that their powerful defensive formation will hopefully 'stop the opponent from getting the ball past the first defender'. Concerning goal-keeping, the Darkstars have kept the ever-reliable Georgi Konev as the starting keeper. Konev has performed brilliantly in recent friendlies and practice matches, and it is expected that this brilliance will carry over into Cup of Nations III. In fact, Joseph Weisman is not expected to get much, if any time in replacement of Konev, who has been called one of the Darkstar's most valuable players. If the opponent manages to get the ball past the defenders, Konev will ensure it gets no further. The defensive line is the Darkstars key for this tournament, and these players know that victory hinges on their performance. According to Erich von Dietrich, the lead defender, the Darkstar's defense has been the focus of training as of late, and von Dietrich expects to see the days of grueling training pay off. Accompanying the aggressive von Dietrich as starters will be Vincent Richter, Yuri Zhukeivich, and Mikhail Shernevadze. Richter's powerful and aggressive play will go well with von Dietrich, and they will probably hang back as the last defense before the goalkeeper; von Dietrich is infamous for his aggressive playing leading to fouls and yellow cards. Zhukeivich and Shernevadze, on the other hand, will be further up on the field. Some may say the midfield is the more neglected area of the Darkstars play, and it is true that Isara has paid little attention to their midfielders, but lately there has been more focus on training the midfielders to the level of the rest of the team. The midfielders have been learning to work well in conjunction with the defensive line, in order to make the best defense possible. Vladimir Ivanov, Nicolai Petrov, Herman Gruenwald, and Igor Sokholov are all powerful, aggressive players better suited for playing defensive roles than offensive roles. The offense of the Darkstars had previously been worked on tirelessly, and though lately special focus was placed on defense Isara's forwards have lost none of their skill. Whereas the midfielders and defenders will be playing a heavily defensive role, the strikers will be staying upfield for most of the time, and keeping up a brutal onslaught against the opponent goal. Radi Jaeger, the team captain, is widely recognised as Isara's star player; the former soldier uses tactics and strategy while ruthlessly attacking the goal. Niels Klein, meanwhile, is the team's best penalty kicker, and is known for a vicious but accurate penalty kick. Adrian Kharkov is a furious and aggressive player who, while known to earn yellow cards, uses that aggression well.

Sargun II
Nation Name: Tahoe Republic National Team Name: Tahoe National Football Team (unofficial nickname 'Saints') Continent: North America Formation: 4-2-3-1 Playing Style: Offensive Aggression: Bruise 23 Man Roster: Keepers (3): Goslan Bourkia - 12 Goslan Bourkia is a readily capable keeper, giving up few goals despite his tender age. His exceptional ability has leaped his status as a great goalie to the top ten in the world, and given his age it is only natural to assume that he can grow only steadier. Bourkia, whose 20th birthday will take place halfway through the Cup of Nations, has spent large amounts of time training and his form and skill are at top-notch. Serezo Moufakir - 1 Fourchon Rouge - 13 Defense (8): Samir Yapoi - 4 Abdelaziz Benaskar - 3 Khaber Oumansour - 5 Ramzi El Ansri - 18 The defensive lineup has not changed. Samir Yapoi, despite having something of a big mouth and being high-maintenance, is considered to have the highest raw skill. The 25-year old is as cool as ice and handles pressure extremely well, and often deserves his loud mouth. Abdelaziz Benaskar is considered by many to be just as effective as Yapoi, and the 25-year old is considered the toughest man on the team. Khaber Oumansour, despite not being as skill as Hafid Souieb, has better form and at 25 is four years younger than his teammate. Oumansour has no exceptional specialties but is a solid choice. The last defender, Ramzi El Ansri, is not particularly skilled but at 18 has shown an affinity for free kicks and good training. Hafid Souieb - 27 Bilal Abdelghani - 2 Yacine Menkari - 15 Abdellah Chakhssi - 28 Midfield (7): Naim Daoudi - 7 Bouaziz Hanouf - 9 Alae El Hasnaoui - 25 Abdelkabir Puilds - 8 The midfield lineup has not changed either. The midfield is considered the strongest point on the team, with team leader Naim Daoudi, "Mr. Chill", leading the pack. Daoudi, at 30, has lost some of the speed of his earlier days but makes it up for his leadership and perfect working in pressure situations. Bouaziz Hanouf, at 29, has extremely great shooting power but is a streaky player - his influence is felt when he has the ball more. Alae El Hasnaoui is your average midfielder in terms of skill, but he is incredibly smart and is the leader of the younger players. Abdelkabir Puilds, at age 19, has the best form on the team and has already shown he can perform great under pressure. Puilds is improving greatly in training. Abdelhadi Boubou - 6 Jamal Azaykou - 21 Pedro Martinez - 22 Forwards (5): Ibrahim Atik - 16 Gerson Salem - 11 Ibrahim Atik, at 31, is the oldest man on the team and also the most solid. Atik is a resilient scorer who is fiercely loyal and has had his health improve greatly in the past few months. He is in top form and has kept a clean record, and is paired with the younger and much better Gerson "Wonderboy" Salem. Salem, widely considered the best player on the team, is only 24 and still a rising star. He is extremely quick and powerful, and has the instincts of a hawk. He is capable of shooting from farther out and has made wondrous shots in the past, and has set up scoring opportunities for other players. The Team Captain, Salem is almost a superstar with the Tahoan populace and has made a reputation for performing in the clutch. Loufti Willdao - 10 Abdessamad Kassine - 20 James Fortuna - 19 Penalty Takers: Gerson Salem Ibrahim Atik Naim Daoudi Bouaziz Hanouf Samir Yapoi Edited July 15, 2010 by Sargun
