Manetheren
From a modest television studio in Portland, Oregon in the Tahoe Republic, President Sean O'Deaghaidh prepared the speech of his life. He stood at the plain podium adorned only with the harp of the Tahoe Republic and behind him was a window overlooking the Columbia River. He was flanked with the green flag of the Tahoe Republic and the blue flag of the President. The cameras rolled and an announcement interrupted every television station in the nation. "My brothers and sisters, I have returned. I left our nation under duress after being shot by traitors who would see our nation burned and from Transvaal have worked to restore our rightful place in the world. I was called to return to the homeland and I answered the call, as millions of men and women have done in the past, in the present and will do in the future. We can never forget the sacrifice our soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen have made for us. We can never forget the desperate fights on the beaches, the fields and forests. We can never forget the brave Tahoan soldier who fought on the beaches of Hawaii, taking ten men with him when he was finally killed. We can never forget the brave Tahoan freedom fighter, who braved the heat of the desert sun to launch a desperate attack on the brutal occupation of Lower California before she was killed. We will never let their memory be forgotten, nor their sacrifice unheeded. We must thank our allies who stood against our oppressors, in particular the brave nation of Transvaal, who has stood with us through every struggle and provided for us while we were down and gave us the ability to return stronger than ever. We are in a closer spiritual communion with our heroes now than ever before or perhaps ever again, in a spiritual communion with those of the day, living and dead, who suffered as well as our own, we pledge to Tahoe our love, and we pledge to our enemies our hate. This is a place of peace, sacred to the dead, where men should speak with all charity and with all restraint; but I hold it a Christian thing, as all Tahoans have held it, to hate evil, to hate untruth, to hate oppression, and, hating them, to strive to overthrow them. Our foes are strong and wise and wary; but, strong and wise and wary as they are, they cannot undo the miracles of God who ripens in the hearts of young men the seeds sown by the young men of a former generation. And the seeds sown by the young men are coming to their miraculous ripening to-day. Rulers had need to be wary if they would guard against such processes. Life springs from death; and from the graves of patriot men and women spring living nations. The Defenders of this Realm have worked well in secret and in the open. They think that they have pacified Tahoe. They think that they have purchased half of us and intimidated the other half. They think that they have foreseen everything, think that they have provided against everything; but the fools, the fools, the fools! — they have left us our Fenian dead, and while Tahoe holds these graves, Tahoe unfree shall never be at peace. We hold the past but look to the future. Reminded of our history we learn and adapt, becoming the people who stood, one hundred fifty years ago with Patrick MacDermott, the father of our nation. O flower of Tahoe, when will we see your like again that fought and died for your wee bit hill and glen. And stood against them, proud Lincoln's army and sent him homeward, tae think again. Those days are passed now and in the past they must remain, but we can still rise now and be the nation again that stood against him proud Lincoln's army and sent him homeward, tae think again. I have been guided by the standard John Winthrop set before his shipmates on the flagship Arbella three hundred and thirty-one years ago, as they, too, faced the task of building a new government on a perilous frontier. "We must always consider," he said, "that we shall be as a city upon a hill—the eyes of all people are upon us." To you then, my brothers and sisters, I charge you. Build a new Tahoe. Build us a new nation that will stand as the Shining City on the Hill for now and forever. I cannot do it, I have failed as your leader and shortly you will choose a new one to replace me. I have resigned and along with a new government you will select a new President. You will choose wisely because you are Tahoans. Today the eyes of all people are truly upon us—and our governments, in every branch, at every level, national, state and local, must be as a city upon a hill — constructed and inhabited by men aware of their great trust and their great responsibilities. For we are setting out upon a voyage in 2010 no less hazardous than that undertaken by the Arabella in 1630. We are committing ourselves to tasks of statecraft no less awesome than that of governing the Massachusetts Bay Colony, beset as it was then by terror without and disorder within. Neither will competence and loyalty and stature, while essential to the utmost, suffice in times such as these. For of those to whom much is given, much is required. Tiocfaidh Ar La. Our Day will Come."
Shatner
Once the broadcast had been aired and the Republic's news outlets got wind of it, the clip was played over and over again across Alaskan stations. The ethnically Tahoan strongholds resounded with fervor and celebrated at the return of their former leader. In the state of Klondike, the Pacific Flag began to be raised on every street and every building. In the Republic, the Pacific Flag stands for the Pacific Movement, spear-headed by the Tahoan majorities in the South-Central and Southeast. Colin Sullivan, leader of the One Alaska Party made a statement concerning the development: "It is a great and most glorious day. A day that we will remember for a long time to come. On a day where the symbols of the first and true Tahoan Republic were banned and confiscated from the land, the true leader of Tahoe returns to reclaim what was unjustly taken. A nation of resiliency, we will see the day that she rises once more. The One Alaska Party supports O'Deaghaidh and his reclamation of the land."
