Coordinator's Address
by Coordinator Squintus

We've been doing these international editions since January, while we were still in the midst of our surrender terms. Our original goal was to keep internal activity high with the various reportings, while also keeping Pacifica involved with the world community. Now that we're out of terms, we no longer have to actively pursue that second goal. So we're declaring war on all rival international printing publications. Maybe it's not the sanest goal in the world, but Brennan is off finding a new home after I burnt the last one down following a late night Media poker game which he absolutely totally cheated in, so the inmates are running the asylum now.

To any particularly fine newsletters out there, we have a message for you. To everyone else, enjoy another excellent edition of everyone's favorite newspaper from everyone's favorite alliance.

As many are no doubt aware, after our defeat in the Karma War the NPO was forbidden by the Karma Alliance to hold any treaties of a military nature. Indeed, during the duration of our terms we were placed under the protection of the Karma Alliance. However, when our terms ended we were cast into the world alone. No matter how powerful and awe inspiring an alliance maybe, it cannot stand by itself. In order to succeed and prosper, especially in this brave new world, friendships are both needed and required.

As our terms neared their end, the Diplomatic Corps of the NPO sought out old and new friends that we could work with to ensure our mutual prosperity, success and security. These noble ideals were hammered into words and those words were written down, forming the core of a new series of treaties that these parties were more than happy to affix their signatures to.

It is with pride that Pacifica and Friends announced the following treaties to the world on May 20, 2010:

PRESS RELEASE

On May 3rd, Pico Worlib, a senator from United Pacifican State of Texisanity, gazed out over his fair country and wondered what had become of it. Husbands bickered with wives, brothers with sons, and mothers with veterinarians. This was not the world he wanted to live in. This was not a world anyone wanted to live. And rather than continue to wallow in misery and excrement, our great Senator Pico Worlib decided to do something about it!

On May 5th, Senator Worlib officially entered the race for Presidency. His main opponent was Bill Bilrow:

Seen here in an unaltered photo.

On May 8th, Bill Bilrow launched a massive smear campaign against the beloved Senator Pico Worlib. It was grounded in lies with a foundation of untruths, a trimming made of fabrications, a garage made of misguided truth enhancements, and an upstairs bathroom with a toilet prone to clogging. It was a very poorly built house of a campaign.
I hear this Pico guy is just a dog and isn't qualified to run his own backyard, let alone the whole country! confirm/deny?

He smells funny and he has fleas. Hey, HEY! Go get a flea bath, ya dumb dog!

He peed all over my front lawn! Come on! That's gotta be against the rules! Hey, gubbment, can't you do something about this?
What the devil-worshiping Bill "Satan" Bilrow failed to realize was that everything done by Senator Pico Worlib was done within the bounds of the campaign laws set out by our morally superior governing body.

Additionally, the following is a list of things that people should be aware of about Bill Bilrow:
1. He smells funny.
2. He looks funny, too.
3. He should get a haircut, because he's a damn dirty hippy.
4. He smells really funny.
We have conclusively established that Bill "666" Bilrow should NOT be voted for. But why should you vote for Senator Saint Pico Worlib???
1. He will GET THINGS DONE!
2. Many of these things will involve expanding the fence to include the tree that really needs to be marked.
3. And that fire hydrant.
4. And the doghouse of neighborhood rival, Spunky.
5. Read my barks: No new taxes.
6. Free dog bones for everyone!
In a move greeted by hundreds, if not thousands, the Emperor Cortath made the announcement that so many had been waiting for; the end of terms, and the freedom of Pacifica once more.

The New Pacific Order had entered the Armageddon War some ten months prior; in what was one of the longest wars ever in Cybernations to follow, the Order fell from its height of power, declining gradually against the innumerable enemy, right to the point where war could be conducted no more. Shackled in terms, the so called ‘forces of justice’ (i.e. Karma) turned their backs onto what they hoped to be the end of a nightmare.

The end of a nightmare, perhaps; yet, the birth of a beautiful dream. As the supporters of the Order cheered on the Emperor, reveling in the true victory, the dream was made through the words of the Emperor:
It shall be an age of power and an age of mercy.
It shall be of justice and of integrity.
It shall be of diplomacy and of openness.
As it was said, so it shall be done. The Order, since exiting terms, has already signed several MDP treaties with many alliances, showing its commitment to the words spoken above and not “tyrannically oppressing the world again”.

A new era for the Order has begun in a world that is vastly different. The future is always unclear but for Pacificans and their friends their will always be the comfort of the Order's dedication to Peace, Strength and Prosperity. Pacifica looks forward to moving ever forward in this new landscape.

On May 24th the Orange Defense Network published their second edition of One Fine Publication: International. It contained humorous quips, political intrigue and left readers wanting more; more Sir Paul that is. In a rare show of support for Pacifica, it was seen that the majority of Planet Bob simply adore PNN International and while One Fine Publication had its merits, it left readers unsatisfied which is definitely something the Pacific News Network never does. We at Pacifica do encourage ODN to continue to publish One Fine Publication as it currently works great as an appetizer for the main course. With a little elbow grease and hard work, OFP may one day be the potatoes to PNN's meat, the Sunny to PNN's Cher.

Despite the slow start to international journalism, with the release of this second edition, the cards all seem to be lining up for ODN. For a long time The Orange Defense Network had been slammed with the moniker "Optional Defense Network" leading to many a derailed topics and a general malaise surrounding the alliance. The world became weary of signing a treaty with them after a history of canceling on the eve of war, most recently with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization whom they promptly attacked shortly thereafter. This all changed with a government changing of the guard along with attaining a long rumored membership in the Complaints and Grievances Union headed by Sovereign Archon.

Membership in C&G could not have come at a better time nor could it have yielded better results. The Orange Defense Network has since been given the ability to engage in debate on the world forums, hold a 20% stake in Smug Inc. and most importantly equipped a toadstool pendant enabling a +5 bonus to defending allies.

It is a new age on Planet Bob, one where everyone and anyone can step up and speak their minds. It is an age we all hold dear in our hearts and minds; an age where any alliance can shed it's former bruised peel and paint on a bright new one. The Orange Defense Network has accomplished just this. A new bloc, new respect and now a 2nd international edition to One Fine Publication; I think I speak for the world when I say, congratulations ODN, you're big league now!

NPO Diplomatic Corps and the New Age of Cyberverse

Following the recent expiration of the around nine and a half month long surrender terms imposed upon the New Pacific Order, thousands of nations across Planet Bob await eagerly – if not anxiously – in what imaginable fashion the Order may arise from its charred ashes. After all, many still remember the bitterness and zealotry shared by the belligerents during Karma War last year, and rumours speak of vengeful retaliation the New Pacific Order might unleash upon its nemesis. However, as Pacificans walk free out of shackled imprisonment, it appears that Cyberverse can be assured that the aeon of Peace, Strength, and Prosperity has indeed returned.

Analysts quickly discuss why the return of this beaten, yet ambitious, alliance is not as calamitious as many feared. The answer apparently points to the now reformed and reorganized Diplomatic Corps of the New Pacific Order. With new leadership trained for post-Karma War interalliance politics, Emperor Cortath stressed his vision of a better, more efficient way to communicate with friends and foes of the Order. The Diplomatic Corps would now spearhead the re-introduction of Pacifican might into the opening arms of the Cyberverse. One critic who writes for The Pacific Press goes as far as stating, no matter what you have known or heard of the seemingly hawkish NPO, do forget it now, for the new era has come – paved by the NPO Diplomatic Corps.

Dubbed “eyes, ears, and mouth of the Emperor”, these oversea agents of Diplomatic Corps (known as Imperial Ambassadors) are tasked with establishing diplomatic relationship with alliances deemed prominent by His Imperial judgment. They are to provide adequate communication bridging between the two alliances, enabling countless diplomatic missions to be processed: negotiations, bargaining, treaty installment or modification, news exchange, or – if absolutely necessary – declaration of war with appropriate wartime corresponding. In short, the Diplomatic Corps is here to ensure that no political mishap witnessed by Cyberverse last year would repeat itself ever again.

Trust in the newly reborn glory of the New Pacific Order Diplomatic Corps. Give the NPO Ambassadors in your alliance some warm welcome. Let us bury memory of bygone dissent expressed toward NPO’s so-called hawkish itch for war and conflicts, and start anew the majestic age of Peace, Strength, and Prosperity.

Update on IRON

The most recent war of many names, known by some as the Second Unjust War, and to others as the Bi-Polar war, has now largely come to a close. The war which began on the 20th of January 2010 with the Polaris declaration on \m/, and which reached its climax with the pre-emptive strike on CnG by a coalition of Alliances led by TOP and IRON has seen the subsequent entrance and withdrawal of more than a hundred alliances. Now only one theater remains, one which has been kept open, only by the confidence of a side with superior numbers, and by sheer force of will on the part of another.

In this last trace of the conflict there is on one side the alliances IRON and DAWN, and on the other the Grämlins. As a general report on the progress of this war, after a short period of directly induced decline on the part of the Grämlins, growth on their part has slipped into a slower but none the less negative trend. Over the last few months the Grämlins have moved from an alliance of over 60 members to one with 29. Average Strength has slipped from over 85k to a low of 58k, and total strength is at a low of 1,695,187.

In the case of IRON the trend has not been decline, but growth. Over the last month IRON has gained nearly 1,000,000 NS. Sources within IRON have reported generally positive morale, confident that the worst of the war is indeed over. Right now within the community the push is for growth, and the war itself has been relegated by some to an afterthought.

Interested in gleaning insight into the motives of the Grämlins the PNN attempted to extract an interview from Ramirus a prominent member of the Grämlin Conclave. The Following response was given.
Send the questions. Keep in mind, however, that I don't like Argent or NPO and have absolutely no use for the OWF or PR of any kind so I'm unlikely to cooperate in any way.
Though the questions were sent, no response was received.

Outside of the three, the spotlight of the OWF seems to be focused on the Grämlins with sharp international criticism coming from many sides. We spoke to former member of the Grämlin Conclave, and current member of VE, Bob Janova, for his insight in this matter.
<iamthey> Well I want to thank you for talking us today, with that we can get started. You've been quite vocal about your own feelings with respect to the new direction of the Grämlins, as someone who has paid close attention to this issue what would you say the overall impact of this war has been on their public image?

<BobJanova> Disastrous.

<iamthey> In what respect?

<BobJanova> Before this phase of the war, IRON was among the most hated alliances, but since the ESA you see members of Supergrievances publically posting pro-IRON/anti-Grämlins opinions.

<BobJanova> It's shown that they're outside the normal political system of CN, unreliable and unpredictable.

<iamthey> Alright do you think their position has spoiled their relationship with those who may have been traditionally sympathetic to them?

<BobJanova> Yes, certainly. You can see members of MHA and MK among those I mentioned earlier.

<iamthey> Indeed.

<BobJanova> Those are about the only alliances who maintained real links after the paperless decision, I think; perhaps Umbrella too but I don't see them supporting Grämlins now.

<iamthey> What do you think the future holds for gre, do you think they can repair what damage they have done?

<BobJanova> I don't think they really have a future. What drew people to apply to Grämlins was its high moral standing, community and strength. And even if they see sense right now, they've lost all three of those, it's a tainted name.

<iamthey> A fair point.Being a former leader of Grämlins yourself, what would you say they are after? What is the purpose of this war? If they can't acheive a material victory, is it about something else?

<BobJanova> I have absolutely no idea

<iamthey> Heh.

<BobJanova> It seems to be a misplaced moral stand, but I can't understand the 'morals' that would lead to such a position, so I can't extrapolate to the motivations and goals of the stand.

<iamthey> Alright well thank you once more.
In short, IRON is on the road to recovery, while the Grämlins seem to be in for further decline. As public opposition seems to be growing for the Grämlins so does good will for IRON, or at least sympathy, seem to be growing. The reality of our world is a reflection of ourselves, and the values we effect, for now it seems this understanding holds true, but what the future holds only time will tell.
