Kaiser Martens
The North German peaceful expansionism and mirror doctrine march on: Plebiscites at the new potential German territories! And so on this bright day, as decided by the Chancellor of Northern Germany, three different plebiscites are to take place among the new de-facto German territories, which need to be made legitimate or otherwise removed. Some time was granted to allow the German authorities to restore order to the region and perpare the ballots and institutions for their new mission: Unbiasedly helping the people speak up. The first Plebiscite was that of Silesia, which although a territory of German tradition, had also been in other hands for a long time. The plebscite was there to determine whether if the people would still feel allegiance to the German State, and also to verify if the population still considered itself either Nordlandic or German at all. The result was nearly the same as the older plebiscite, and almost unanymously, they chose to join Northern Germany, at a 91% "Ja". The second Plebiscite, was that of the city of Valkurheim in the far East, which in spite of having been surrounded by territories considered to be Slavic, had retained its German and Nordlandic identity through and through. This city overwhelmingly favored union with Germany with a resounding 89% "Ja", and will too be unified. The third and most critical, controversial plebiscite consists of the parts of former Belarus which had been granted to Germany, exclusing the city just mentioned. Accordingly to the previous Government, the region was identified as German-populated, however, the 94% "Ja" in the polls did not seem to be entirely consistent in this region, which is why there now is a new plebiscite, as it is believed that Valkurheim's votes may have been used to influence this Region's decision. In any case, the Government has vowed to respect the beliefs of the Locals...whichever these were: First, they had to know. The Eastern Poll is ongoing. There are several groups. Some are the Pan-Slavists which admire the Pan-Slavic model of the Slavic Federation. Others, identify themselves with the Rus, and claim to swear allegiance to Tsar Justinian. There's also a movement of German-speaking and Nordlandic-speaking population, which just want to be a part of Germany. Finally, a most varied group simply wants to be either a German protectorate or otherwise an autonomous region without Germanic identity. In the end, some of these groups have interests in other parts of former Belarus, because of this, they may or may not represent the beliefs of the people who actually LIVE in the zone. It is time to vote now...

Kaiser Martens
"Interesting. The people have spoken...we were correct in assuming that the results would be different...that decision was not quite as unanymous as expected. We will now decide what to do based on the results." The Althing took several days to discuss the issue, and brought several representatives from the polled territory...it was not a decision taken lightly. The regional characteristics were discussed, and in the end, it was decided that Germany would keep the majority of the territory, but a portion would be ceeded to Slavorussia and a smaller sector to the Slavic Federation. The finalized map looked like this: The Green sector to Slavorussia, the White sector to the Slavic federation. These were the regions to have an overwhelming non-German vote, while the rest were responsible for the pro-german votes and will be annexed by Germany. The problem has been settled. Kaiser Martens
"Yes there were options to becoming independent. The option for a protectorate creation was, obviously, just the one logical step before proper independence once that some Government could actually step up to rule the land. But you, the people, chose other options...we imposed nothing on you. In fact, we supported the old Government until it became unreasonable. We could have just dictated whatever we wanted, but instead we went out of our way to try to change things...it is not our fault that only a minority wished at all for independence."
