Maelstrom Vortex
"Sir, I'm proud to report we have found a stockpile of functional warheads in the lockers beneath the Army Depot. We are pulling out the 280 MM for a test shot. Engineers are being given some of the war-heads for reverse engineering." Lt. Tackett reported to General Wayne Varney. "This is great news. I'll inform the president. Test it immediately." He nodded. "Yes, Sir. I'll relay the order." Tacket exited the room to issue the instructions to the 1st Engineers Battalion. About 24 hours later, the following test was conducted in an abandoned gravel pit in southern Kentucky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTdy1Yp1h5A This event would be observable by satellite and by some other forms of detection. ooc: My first one: Dragonisia (Maelstrom Vortex) of the Red team, purchased a nuclear weapon on 5/19/2010 11:36:48 PM. Yawoo
**Classified Communication from Louisiana to the United States of America**** To whom it may concern: The Louisianan Department of War has detected a nuclear explosion in the state of Kentucky, we were unable to track a missile launch, have you been hit by a hostile force? Uberstein
Private: "Are they seriously detonating an above ground nuke? For a TEST?" "Well, if that mushroom cloud picture they broadcasted is real, yes." "God it's like they WANT radiation to spread! What if the wind picks up?" "Well, it isn't exactly near us..." "...point taken." Public: The Republic of Finland requests that all future tests be done underground, perhaps filling in the gravel pit before detonation would be wiser. The world does not need any more atmospheric radiation.

This was a test of a 280 MM nuclear shell. We have recovered a portion of the arsenal of the Old United States of America which was vaulted beneath the Kentucky Army Depot. Our engineers are working to reverse engineer the warheads even now. Atmospheric material ejection of material was considered before the test and the fallout footprint is very minimal. We intend to have clean-up teams clear the areas by stripping some of the upper layer of gravel and interning it into a 3 mile deep hole drilled by an oil rig excavator. That said, the test was planned in advance and we do not anticipate any long-term fallout issues. Uberstein
"So the United States has created a weather control device as well? Atmospheric testing of nuclear weapons is a direct attack on your own civilians, cleaning a layer of topsoil is not going to have any effect on where the wind takes the incredibly small radioactive dust. Look at the size of that mushroom cloud, are you arrogant enough to claim you can stop all of that material from being blown away across the countryside? Radiation sickness is not a laughing matter." Zoot Zoot
The Imperium of Canada, whilst respecting and understanding the decision to obtain, test and stockpile nuclear weapons, condemns not only the above ground test, but the attainment of nuclear weapons in general. Enough Nations in this world can cause a nuclear holocaust, and one more is not a good thing. That said, congratulations on obtaining your bomb. Jordosaur94
The Reich congratulates the US in their procurement and successful test of a nuclear weapon. That said, we are highly disturbed by the testing of such a weapon ABOVE GROUND where the factor of nuclear radiation is an all dangerous reality. We shudder to think that said radiation would be spread by the wind throughout the Eastern seaboard, and perhaps even be spread north, where it might affect Coruscanta, Disparu, and *Shudder* the Reich itself. As of which, we hope next time you perform such tests you perform an undeground weapons test to prevent radioactive fallout being spread through the atmosphere. Maelstrom Vortex
"Seriously folks, it was a low yield weapon, less than 10 kilotons fired by artillery and not a strategic device. Fall out is going to be a marginal foot print of less 5 miles no matter which way the wind blows and the test was designed for such.. to expedite cleanup." Michael McBride
MWN, SYRACUSE, YORK - THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS BULLETIN. Reports today from the United States of America that they have successfully tested a nuclear weapon. Reports indicate this weapon was detonated somewhere in the old state of Kentucky. This was an above ground test. Sensors have not picked up any radiation over Republic of York lands, though prevailing winds in the northern jet stream, dipped abnormally low for this time of year, could bring fallout over the Republic of York. Director Ahab Napoleon released this statement just a few moments ago. "My fellow citizens, today we have seen the rise of a new nuclear power just south of our borders. While normally this would be a cause for celebration, as new clean fuels would be developed, and a nation is technologically sound, we cannot help but see this as nothing more than an aggressive act by a terrorist state. The fact that members of the Dragon Cult, known for their suicide attacks for what they believe is "right" now have nuclear weapons is something that should make the whole world shudder. How long will it be before some nation is subject to a nuclear terrorist attack from these fanatics? I reiterate once again that our border with the United States remains closed, and we call on them to renounce their nuclear research. Failing that, I have put in place plans today to begin research on our own nuclear weapons... not for offensive purposes, but for defensive ones. Our people will not live in fear of the tyranny that comes when fanatics hold nuclear weapons." Analysts have debated the intelligence in such a move, fearing it could escalate a cold war on the American continent. Still others think that this was what Mr. Napoleon had to do, otherwise he would face the ire of a rising percentage of the populous who sees their southern neighbors as, not only composed mostly of religious fanatics, but dangerous as well. We'll have more on this developing story as it continues.
Maelstrom Vortex
We understand the fears of our York Republic neighbors in that we only recently had a civil war in which the Cult for which they are concerned was removed from power. I assure you, no member of the United States military is allowed to get near these weapons without a full psychological eval. They are under the most extreme of security lock down and are able to be used by executive order only. The Dragon Cult has been relegated to the role of any other religion in the state and all Tasmanians are still being processed for immigration procedures. Since none of them have native born citizenship; none shall ever hold executive office. We encourage the Republic of York to continue its own nuclear research and offer our assistance to our former brothers in the old Union. We have no fear of them. They should have no fear of us. If a treaty would affirm this we offer the same treaty we are with other former states.. an MDoAP to guarantee your security.
