San Marino Announcement

"Ladies and Gentlemen. As you're all well aware, the Federation of Italy recently collapsed. This has lead to some problems in San Marino. Italy was our sole source of trade and therefore goods, which without has caused shortages of supplies across the country. In an effort to hold out with what we have, we will be introducing rationing all goods until such time as we are able to resume normal consumption. We will be looking to start trading with other nations as soon as it is feasible. Second of all there will be a suspension of immigrants into the country. We have had a sudden influx of Italians which has put a massive strain on the economy. While we are willing to grant them citizenship if they wish it, we cannot handle any more. Finally we will be introducing a massive military reform. We have never had a need for much of a military apart from police duties and a small force to back up the Italians if the need was to ever arise. Now that the Italians are gone we will be forced to fend for ourselves as the saying goes. So conscription will be introduced for all males aged 18-20, however it will be delayed for people currently attending High School and University and those mid way through an apprenticeship. With these reforms, we hope to see the armed forces become an effective fighting force. However we will be delaying the introduction of conscription until the current economic situation is fixed. Thank you for your time. "[/color]

"Has San Marino considered taking this opportunity to expand its land several miles to the northeast and gain access to the sea, whereby trade can be restarted and the country's economic situation remedied?"
