They are only used informally in some areas.) and High German Commonly Learned Foreign Languages: Russian, French, Norweigan/Swedish/Danish Note on Nordlandic: It is partially intelligible with all other Germanic languages when spoken, but when written, it uses slightly modified Elder Futhark. Government Type: Meritocratic Martencist Dictatorship Leader: Kanzler (Chancellor) Dierik Magnhildsson Martens von Nordland und Deutschland Chief of the General Staff: General Dietrich Tambarskjelve Prime Minister: Feliks von Danzig Also, Martens the Elder unoficially serves as an advisor to Dierik, but this is confidential information. Anthems: Deutschland Über Alles (Oldest Version) and Ja, vi Elsker Tax Rate: 30% Literacy: 100% People Happiness: 87.43 Population: 77 Million Currency: Nordmark (Backed by Silver) Main and official religion: Germanic Paganism Many atheists also exist. Government Priorities in order of importance Military (Includes Police and healthcare. One could argue that Military=Government.) Education Economy Everything else Brief History: The country was formed when Prussia and Nordheim, successor states of Nordland, merged in order to try to improve their conditions, which were very, very bad. After years and two civil wars, the country has finally stabilized, developed and continues to grow. Although it is an Empire, it has no Emperor. Its language and primary ethnicity - the Nordlandic - are in fact a mix of Germans, Dutch, Scandinavians, and everyone from different Germanic Cultures which after decades of mixing have ceased to have allegiance to their previous identities and instead consider themselves Nordlanders. Former identities such as "Swedish", "Icelandic" or allegiance to a German Heimat are no longer valid due to the mixing of the families throughout the time. The language has also mixed, and this eventually created the Nordlandic we know today standardized. The main religion is Pagan Germanic, but the majority only deal with it due to traditions and are not in fact believers of any gods. These men are a once multicultural society blended into one stabilized culture and language. They also believe firmly that Democracy is an evil, for they have had many traumatic experiences with unreasonable democratic governments over decades and generations. Due to their history of nonstop war anti-nordlandic sentiments, they are also extremely warlike. For them, death and warfare is a part of life just as one could think of, for example, marriage. They are descendants of those who have fought in the Silver Revolution which brought about Martencism, and consider this to be distinct from any other governments in the world, something of their own invention, a victory of theirs. The Silver Revolution was Martens' rebellion against the Democratic Germany and the National Socialist Germany, and fought both kinds of extremists. They also have a history of fighting communists, and most of them are resentful of Visari's dictatorship. ------------- Foreign Affairs Status: Land Claims on Denmark -Friendship and or pacts with: Rebel Army New Palma Slavorussia France Slavic Union Athenian Federation New South Wales (I think...lol) -Member of PEPTO ------------ National Wonders: Although Germany is not as strong as it used to be, due to it being ancient, it has many wonders which nations of similar strength do not have. Anti-Air Defense Network: A network of hidden SAM sites exists in Germany. They exist in large numbers and can operate centralizedly when connected to Military Bases and Satellites, or otherwise by themselves. Nobody but the Chancellor really know how many there are and in which locations, but all the terrain seems to be covered. Disaster Relief Agency: A branch of the military with a clear objective: Organize a large amount of secret, hidden warehouses and bunkers all over Germany which store Fuel, Ammunition, Medical items and food. Used in case of large catastrophes or in case of an invasion. Locations classified. Foreign Air Force Base: There are large amounts of air bases in Germany, leftover from its previous incarnations. These give Germany a greater number of Aircraft when compared to many other nations. Great Monument: Martens Lichtbringerun (Martens the Lightbringer), a large statue in the city of Asgaard of Kaiser Martens in which he holds a torch. Made out of metal. Great Temple: The Temple of the Norns...the core of religious and traditional life, located in the Baltic, in a city called Nordheim, not to be confused with the Region. Valkyrie warriors and Einherjar warriors train there. Great University: The Imperial University at Berlin. Founded right after the Silver Revolution, rebuilt many times after Berlin's many destructions, while its archives were protected by Bunkers. One of the most important universities in the world. Hidden Nuclear Missile Silo: Locations are unknown, but a number of hidden silos exist, housing nuclear and non-nuclear ICBMs. They are called "Valkyrie Missiles". Internet: Developed long ago, Germany has a good access to internet, however, during wartime or times of tension, it is shut down to prevent hacking issues. Interstate System: The first German Wonder. It consists of a large amount of roads and railways interconnecting the different regions of germany as well as a group of dedicated high-speed transport ships for the non-mainland regions. Manhattan Project: Perhaps the reason why Germany has been able to survive for so long, even while in its weakest form, retained the capacity of building nuclear weapons to deter the enemies. Movie Industry: The heart of this industry is located in Amsterdam and throughout the times has made several impressive historical as well as non-historical movies for the German People and the world, to boost morale as well as the economy. National Research Lab: Nobody but the very highest government know its location, even its workers are not told where they are. Here the latest German technology is produced under utmost secrecy and as fast as possible. Rumored to be underground. It is located under Iceland, but none know this. National War Memorial: A massive memorial at Berlin which has statues of every German warrior that there has been, from all eras. From the proto-germanic spearmen warriors, to widukind's warriors, medieval germans, vikings, renaissance soldiers, francoprussian war soldiers, WW1 warriors, WW2 warriors, WW3 soldiers, Silver Revolution Soldiers, and then warriors for each of the Nordlands and one latest statue for the current soldier type. Pentagon: Its location is unknown, but in reality, the building is tri-partite for each territory of germany: Iceland, mainland, nordheim, in order to improve each land's defensibility. Social Security System: This is integrated into the army, which serves as the security system. If one were to become poor, one automatically joins any branch of the armed forces, combatant or not, to achieve a reasonable standard of living. Space Program: Based in Iceland, they are responsible for having taken Germany to the Moon and for the large number of satellites employed by the Military. Stock Market: Berliner Börse AG - the most important economic center in all of Germany stands out as a coordinating core for the ecnomy at large. However, heavy protectionism exists in Germany. Strategic Defense Initiative: A number of dedicated satellites coordinated with dedicated missiles and hidden silos which work specifically to attempt to destroy incoming nuclear thrats. The German Military: Overview: The Military is the most important institution in Germany. There is no clear distinction between the civilian government and military institution, which is ment both to help reduce costs and also to promote meritocracy. Even the police forces are in fact only a specialized branch of the military. Because of both tradition and geopolitical realities, the citizens of Germany unless when having a certification to show them inaproppiate mentally or physically, are given military training once every fifteen days (normally), and are taught to use military weapons. Owning weapons is, in fact, mandatory as each is supposed to bring their weapon of choice to the training sessions. In spite of this, due to logistical, infrastructural-related reasons, Germany can only field a moderate amount of soldiers at time. (OOC: To prevent cheating) The exceptions are those who are in the Einherjar and Valkyrie programs, for men and women respectively, these individuals dedicate their entire lives to the military arts and are considered privileged for doing so. Throughout Germany's post-silver history they have always been the elite core. In spite of these policies, there have been very little incidents of gunfights. Education is one of the priorities as well, and so, they understand that the guns are to be used only in self defence, as seen on the uprisings against the former, oppressive governments. All in all, Northern Germany's society is the most militaristic yet one of the most peaceful in the world. And in spite of its dictatorial approach to politics, there exist no laws which regulate people's personal lives short of the military training ones. They are freer than they had ever been under any democracy. ---------- Branches of the Reichswehr: Den Heer - The Land Army Leader: Heerstohrleiter Kristell Erwinsdottar Ritter von Bjørn 461.030 Soldiers in 47 divisions of 10000 each. 4.477 MBTs in 18 batallion of 250 each. Each division has a brigade of auxiliary equipment or troops. Noncombatant, support personnel exists for logistical reasons, used in all roles which do not include combat and more predominantly on supply lines. Infantry Equipment: Einherjarsrüsting 86 The Einherjar Armor is the standard issue body armor for the German forces, and is outwardly very similar to post-revolutionary times design, although with a number of new features and newer materials as well. It has a built-in comms device, GPS connectivity, and basic computer aid for situational awareness, news-receiving and aiming aid. There's a basic "hud" which shows this information when needed as well, even maps sometimes. It supports infrared, night, and thermal vision. The suit is made with nanotechnology to provide a greater amount of protection per square centimeter than armors made out of conventional materials, and additionally, personal NERA is added to parts of the armor. Because of this, the soldiers have been nicknamed "Panzer zi fuoss" - Tank by foot. The entire body is protected, although vital zones have even more protection than usual. Conventional rounds are halted by the armor excepting in ranges under 2 meters approximately. There is an air filter, and combined with the materials, which seal the body away, this also serves as a HAZMAT suit. Optionally, soldiers may carry armored oxigen tanks with them. As accessories, come a number of grenades: Conventional, cluster, incendiary, flash in the typical german shape. There's also a new type: The Recon Grenade, which in fact contains a number of special cameras which transmit what they see back to the suit's computer, so that the soldiers can see around corners for example without risking their lives. There's also smaller conventional cameras which can be manipulated through wires. The grenades can be attached together in a large bundle to function as a high power explosive. Lastly, all soldiers have a knife and then they can optionally choose one of the following weapons: A spear, small axes, large axes, a sword or a regular bayonette. The German Weapons: Sturmgevär 86: The assault rifle. It is built mostly out of advanced plastics, with advanced metal reinforcements in the most critical areas to achieve a relatively low weight. It has safety features to prevent accidents or the rifle from exploding in adverse situation, and does not react catastrophically when exposed to water. It has built in laser sights as well as iron sights and the optional scope, and supports automatic, single, semi automatic fire and then its key feature, double fire, which allows for two bullets to leave the gun before the shooter feels the recoil, making both bullets hit the exact same spot for an extremely high penetrating power. It also has a system of springs and amortiguation to decrease actual recoil, especially when using the shoulder stock. Most of the bullets are armor piercing (Sabot system), however, shotgun-like bullets, hollow bullets and regular bullets may also be issued. It has an optional bayonette and a submachinegun-like short barrelled option for close combat. 65mm. There's an optional silencer. Kraftgevär 86: This gun's main focus is power. It is built with the same technology and has similar features to the Sturmgevär, however, it does not aim for balance nor for rate of fire, instead, for sheer power. One hit one kill philosophy. Its caliber is 55, and it has the same bullet varieties as the previously described rifle. It has a much more powerful scope, in order to (logically) assist sniping. There's an optional silencer too. Gunnvär 86: A handgun designed to fire the same type of rounds as the assault rifle, but on a pistol-like clip. It is only ment to be used as a last-resort, and everyone, even noncombatant personnel and civilians by law must have it. For a handgun, it has a relatively high recoil, but this is needed in order to achieve the piercing power which modern warfare requires. MG5: Based on the classical MG42-MG3 German design, one of the mainstays of the German armies for over a century now. The main difference is that the welding techniques and materials have improved to make it lighter, that its firing rate is adjustable, although the higher rate may result in overheating unless if the gun is suited with an auxiliary cooling model, based on coolant liquid. It uses a round intermediate to the assault rifle and the heavy rifle. Panzergarm: A rocket launcher designed to destroy tanks with tandem charges. The rocket and aiming are computer-assisted in order to increase its effective range. There are also HEAT and HESH rockets, and there is also a different version designed to defeat the active defences of certain armor types: the cluster round. Although in itself it has little penetration value, its purpose is to put forth a large amount of small projectiles to force the enemy tank to expend a large amount of its active defences while stopping then. This leaves it vulnerable to attack from other Panzergarms. 88mm. There is a smaller, 40mm version of this which is used as a regular non-antitank grenade launcher. Panzerfaust: A discardable version of the above, ment to be built very cheaply, spammed even, ment to be used by insurgents and irregular military. It is also used for training purposes. Sometimes soldiers may be given this rather than the Panzergarm, as it weights much less and is smaller. 88mm. MBT: A8V Wotan Brigades: -Anti Air SPAA "Garm" -Tank Destroyer Jagdpanzer "Perkunos" -Artillery Panzerhaubitze 86 Based on PZH2000, but added NERA blocks for further protection. There are ETC and non ETC variants, the non ETC variants have the double-shot technology incorporated. It also serves when it must as a Tank Destroyer. SSG 210mm A heavy 210mm artillery piece, with added frontal armor to protect the crew and defend from land attacks. Normally only used in defensive roles. SSG Racketenwerfer The German version of the modern Katjusha-style multi rocket launcher. Its basic version is made to work "by itself" but it is designed in a way in which it can be added to most trucks, to turn it into "the real thing" rather than a simple towed artillery like the 210mm, resembling the "Mattress" instead. -Engineers Pioneere 86 - An added group of elite soldiers trained more intensively. They carry with them Bridgelaying tanks, and transport tanks with other items such as mines and heavy explosions. They are also trained in demolition. -Armor IFV "Viking" Based on Schutzenpanzer Puma. Adds: NERA blocks, Heavy missile launcher (for antitank role). The gun has been given the Double Fire technology as well. Den Scheemacht - The Naval Forces As it is obvious, the naval forces have not been of a high priority for Germany, because it had historically a very low budget which it had to necessarily spend on conventional equipment for land armies. Normally it had used these weapons to protect the mainland channels. As of lately, the Sea Forces have been building up dramatically in order to be better suited to defend the different German Territories. Leader: Scheestohrleiter Karl Gustav Olovsson ten Hulsen 6 Landing Ships: NDSM Tambarskjelve NDSM Germania Irredenta NDSM Njord NDSM Langschip NDSM HroÞrik NDSM Vinlandar 5 Air Carriers (Recently built): NDSM Silbera Nedherlandar NDSM Hamborg NDSM Thonnarsburg NDSM Hermann NDSM Morgenstern Flagship: NDSM Polarstern (Submarine) Submarines: NDSM Manneligshaven NDSM Eisland NDSM Kraken NDSM Königsburg 5 Frigates: NDSM Veermaster NDSM von Tirpitz NDSM Helgoland NDSM Scharnhorst NDSM Silbervegun Polarstern Class Submarine: Tambarskjelve Class Landing Ship: Hamborg Class Air Carrier: Helgoland Class Frigate: A large number of noncombatant ships do exist, which function as cargo ships for resupplying, transport ships for troops and equipment, training ships and much more. An amount of the transport ships are submarines, that is, unarmed submarine carrier ships. Den Luftkrigar - The Air Forces The air forces' primary focus is defense of German Airspace and the nullification of aerial threats against potential naval targets. Because of this, the overwhelming majority of the aerial units are, in fact, fighters. Although numbers of bombers do exist, they are not normally fielded for they would exceed germany's logistic capacities. All in all, there are 105 squadrons of fighters, but also other noncombatant auxiliary aircraft exist: Refueling aircraft, transport aircraft, cargo aircraft and scout aircraft among others, some of which are helicopters. The german paradroppers (Fallschärmjägar) are trained by the air forces but otherwise counted into the troop total numbers of the Heer. The rocket forces are a branch of the air force (Racketenkräftar). A very large variety and number of rockets exist, from short range rockets to regular cruise missiles and non-nuclear ICBMs. A smaller amount of the ICBMs are FOAB class. Separately, 25 nuclear warheads exist, designed to either be detonated manually, via ICBM, any other rocket type excepting for the closest range ones or by bomber. The German Nuclear missiles are referred to as "Valkyrie Missiles". It is said that chemical weapons also exist, but this is kept secret as well. The main German Fighter is called "Svarze Hrave", Black Raven, and is based off of previous Nordheim-Prussian designs. The scarce german bomber is in turn called "Nordvind". A variable geometry variant is being produced for the Black Raven, in which it will optionally have an inverted wing configuration to improve maneuverability in dogfights. Their Leader is Luftstohrleiter is Minerva Mirkosdottar Frega-Nielsen OOC: The fighter is F-22 raptor with the planned near-future upgrades as described on wiki, while the bomber is the modernized Tu-160.
