DoE of /b/

I never thought I'd see the day when Pacifica was grouped with moralists. Well, there's a time and place for everything I suppose.
I would say that a moralist is someone that does what they are doing claiming that it is morally right. That's what they did.

Short memory much?

The past is the past and life is too short for people to keep grudges going for that many years. Good luck in establishing your alliance but please make sure you find yourself a protector who can help protect you and help guide you. There are many predators who will jump on you without one and having folks with CN experience help show you the ropes will do you a world of good.

question for the OP:
Did you check with anyone before doing this?
The name "GOONS" was slightly less mired in mud than that of /b/, but it still wasn't exactly squeaky clean. We spent over a month talking behind closed doors to even be allowed to start an alliance with the same acronym. Please tell me that before your big "oh hi, we're back" thread, you sat down and chatted with a few major players.
Nope. I had no idea of the history. I'm a n00b here who was just bored, so thought I'd take on a challenge, with no idea of what the scope of the project was. I still havent exactly been elected as leader, just the /b/'s were clamoring for someone to announce a DoE of the alliance. I had no idea of the history the previous reich left on this world. I had never even heard of the Third Great war. This will be fun to see how long I can make it last without asking for anybodies permission.

By the way, have you asked me for permission to breath? No? Okay well same idea. /B/ is here, and I'll do my best to kick them in the nuts if they try to act up.

I beg to differ, see the OP (emphasis mine):

I didn't write it. Think of me as George Bush. I'm the dancing monkey who was handed a speach. I got nothing against any of you, and won't be doing any firebombing (ooc: messing with the forum) or propaganda spreading (ooc: nasty images). I'm personally here to Built my Nation, alliance, and agreements with other nations, and fully condone the thorough spanking of anyone in my alliance who steps out of line.

/b/ was about 400 members that practiced neutrality for the most part of their time here on Planet Bob. Why are the select dozen who decided to leave with the horrific postings supposed to be the reason that these guys will fail or those /b/ members who are still here. That shouldnt be a reason at all. Also, wasn't just directed at you. Most of the community doesnt even know who these guys are because they faded away three years ago. Those who were seem to think that the people who ragequit actually give a damn about this game and decide to keep coming back just to annoy us.

You recently gave me lecture and called me a hypocrite for criticizing the reasons behind a particular sanction simply because I was a former member of TOP.

I remember a few very ugly incidents in GOONS past. For all you know it could have just been a handful of bad apples in /b/ that engaged in the offensive behavior. Just like the former GOONS, correct?

Not in the slightest. Last thing I feel like dealing with is your goddamn moralism all over again.

As far as this goes, I'm interested and healthily amused. Why amused? Well, the members of VE (members, not gov, don't kill me Impero) crying foul over events of the 3rd Great war are cracking me up when I remember the circumstances of their Reconciliation, Reformation, and Revenge. Of course, we're to forgive that...

And to /b/ itself, I'll impart the following piece of advice - while it is true that you'll have to run a tight ship and be fairly humorless so as to not get brutally destroyed by a ton of howling moralists who, for the most part, either weren't here in 07 or weren't on that eventful day/night, you really shouldn't kill your identity. It's good for alliances on this planet to be unique and have something special, and /b/ *can* offer that if they do it right. Control yourselves, but do not abandon your roots entirely.

One violated the rules of this "world" which many had to suffer months for, another didn't. One had its leader laughing at the child pornography being spread to all of our nations in these public halls, the other didn't. The name/b/ carries its history; normally I move on but /b/ is an alliance which went over the top. A year or 10 years, /b/ will always be the alliance that had the leader laughing at child porn and mutilated cat images being flaunted like candy. So yes, one can easily be forgiven while the other cannot. I am sure this guy is swell and dandy, doesn't remove the stains the alliance caused on an OOC level 3 years ago.

The name does not make the alliance, Ejay. You of all people should know this.

While the former /b/ did terrible things, this alliance has not done anything.

Personally, I did not witness the defacing of the forums but if this was legitimate child pornography was the FBI called in and were IP logs of the forums and proxy servers subpoenaed? Mutilated cats pictures sounds pretty terrible but if someone posted real child porn they should be rotting in jail. Since I never heard of any police intervention I figured perhaps it was hyperbole and they just posted ogrish grade pictures (which would still be pretty bad) but again I was not on the forum when this occurred.

That's certainly true.
Just to recap the points in the posts above Jim, I was explaining why /b/ aren't being welcomed with open arms to Penkala, who seems to think it's something to do with machismo on the part of the posters in this thread. My point is simply that alliances with bad reputations don't usually get a warm welcome from the community here.

And yes, I agree, GOONS weren't lovingly welcomed back either, thanks to a bunch of ex-GOONS posting banme posts on these forums. Which is very much like what a bunch of bad apples in previous incarnations of /b/ have done too - hence the lack of love. Is that clear enough for you?

Damsky, unfortunately it is a grudge I simply cannot get over, but the world still spins and I am fine with that. The leader represents an alliance and its name; when an alliance leader laughs and condones such !@#$@#$ stupid and vile acts, it is something I wont forget. I forgive IC, I do not forgive OOC actions which are demoralizing. I must respectfully disagree; as I said man, IC actions are one thing, OOC are another.

#Jimkong: Only Admin can answer that.

If I talk to a man who tells me he just joined the KKK, I don't think "Hey, he's probably a good guy, they can't all be bad". I think "If you weren't a scumbag, you wouldn't be joining the KKK". Go visit 4chan.org/b/ (NSFW, obviously) and maybe you'll get a better idea of what kind of people we are talking about.

When they come from the same place, which still does the same things, I think the name makes a huge difference. If they weren't wanting to support the same nonsense as before they wouldn't be wanting to use the same name.

What they did before, if they had gotten caught, would have put them in jail for a long time.

I feel sorry for Admin, who I'm sure would love to never have to deal with any of their crap again.

Something to consider: There are many, many names for an aspiring alliance leader to choose from and not all of those names have been used here in the past. Flying Reindeer Alliance of Nation-Killers (FRANK) is one that I can think of offhand. There is also Allied Entites Independent Of Undesirable Youth (or any other AEIOU usage, either including the Y or not as it does tend to be left out). They might have chosen to go a different route and use a name from another planet and call it the Massive Enigma Coalition (MEC) or the Energetic Union (EU). Could've also been the Untold Nations or the Umpteen Nationals or something using the letters U (already discussed in a previous mention) and N, though this route was also, sadly, not chosen.

No, instead they--dare I Godwin this?--called themselves a name that is quite reviled here. Imagine I form an alliance and call it the Nations Seeking Democratic Association Please (NSDAP) or the Killer Klown Klan? Ohhhh, now the feelings of rage and baw come out, don't they?

Thing is, why would somebody choose to name their alliance after such an otherworldly entity which has caused so much strife and feelings of anger, hatred, and yes, even butthurtedness to infect the body politic?

Why would someone pull the standard of filth and wickedness and vileness that is /b/ and run it up a flagpole?

Unless they agree with the acts of /b/ from the past. Same reason someone would call themselves the NSDAP or the KKK. Because they agree with the ideals of those otherwordly groups.

Now, I know that it's considered quite verboten to actually remember things that have happened more than a month or two ago (unless we're speaking about past wrongs of Pacifica, but hey, we're loved), and even moreso to actually bring them up. But I'm not aiming this post at those of you who secretly admired the acts of /b/ when they were last here. No, the only thing I'll be aiming at you in the fullness of time is my military.

People, some of you may not remember the state of things when /b/ last had their way. I do, along with many others. /b/ should not be allowed to reform. Doing so infects this world with a cancer, and not the funny kind of cancer that people giggle about on here and elsewhere, but the kind that infests, grows, becomes malignant, and must be excised. If allowed to grow large and fat off of the cells of its host, amputation is the only way to cure the affliction. By that time we're talking serious surgery. In this case I would say that surgery would remove a sizeable portion of NS from a number of alliances who will eventually throw in their lot with this crew.

But it will be removed. At all cost it will be removed.

On the other hand, rather than waiting so long to excise that tumor and all of that NS along with it, it could simply be cured right now before it grows malignant. If the international community takes a hard line stance against the reformation of this alliance, which does not deserve a second chance, they will be unable to fester.

At one time the citizens of the world were united against this form of scum. I ask those of you who remember to join those of us who stand against this sort of filth. I ask those of you who were not here to look into the past activities of the alliance under this name and think "why would someone choose THAT name, out of all the others, unless they agreed with the actions of that alliance?"

And I ask those of you who side with /b/ to climb into a rocket and go back to the moon.
