Phoenix Federation change of command.

I first took command of an alliance, roughly 800 days ago. Tonight I'll end that run quietly by transferring the job of Commanding General/ Evil Overlord to The Crimson King. I have supreme confidence that he will carry TPF to new heights, or at least post topics in a timely manner - a skill I never quite developed. When I assumed command of TPF there were clouds on the horizon, parts of a history I did not understand. I was given a chance to shape a sanctioned alliance into a vision of what I saw as a good home. I'm proud to say that even along the rocky road of many wars and an insurrection here and there, the Phoenix Federation stands stronger and more united than any point in her history. We have learned to fight against incredible odds and hold together in the toughest of crisis. We have demonstrated our resolve and dedication to allies and set a standard of commitment matched by a select few. I set our goals to move away from the UJP, a goal I feel we have met in every way and paid for dearly on several battlefields. I reset our operations and attitude toward many former alliances, some of which we attacked for unconventional and in the end unacceptable reasons. There are ways to deal with situations that occurred and I believe we have since behaved in a radically different manner since Sept. 08. We overcame issues that former members mentioned, "there is no culture". There is one now, a very strong and cohesive group that will fight to the end for each other. No one doubts our resilience.

In my time as leader of TPF and Elysium, I acted and tried my best to uphold the values given in my original foundation post.

Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,--
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Time to go bug out.

Needless to say it was saddening when mhawk came to me a while back about his decision to retire, and it was with great humility that I accepted the offer to take the reigns when he decided to step down.

I have always considered myself lucky to be a part of the finest community on this planet. The devotion shown by the members of this alliance is only matched by the loyalty of our allies, and it is both of these things that always have, and will continue to define us. I have been proud to fight beside and help govern the members of this alliance, honored to work with the exceptional people to which we are treatied, and I consider it nothing short of a privilege to be tasked with leading TPF and her members going forward.

To all our friends and allies who have passed along their support and well wishes in regards to this change, I can only say thank you. And to anyone who wishes to get to know me better, be it friend or foe, ally or adversary, I will simply say that my door is always open.

Finally, and most importantly, on behalf of all the members of TPF I would like to extend a much deserved thanks to mhawk for all he has done for this alliance in his time as leader. His strength of character and incomparable resolve has allowed him to guide us with an ever steady hand through good times and bad, and without his leadership and devotion we would not be where we are today. It has been an honor to serve under him, and it will be a great benefit to both myself and the alliance as a whole to still have him available to provide advice and council going forward.

Congratulations on your retirement my friend.

Wow mhawk, it's been a long run. You've done a great job with TPF and have been a great friend, both to me and to the NPO. Enjoy your retirement, you have earned it. I still hope to see you on irc.

TCK, I am sure you will do well leading TPF; lord knows you play a mean hand of poker. I wish you good luck and hold up my beer in a toast to you.

It was an absolute honor to serve under mhawk. I learned alot about leadership, and resolve, and made a great friend in the process. Though he was incredibly slow on posting topics, I think I'm responsible for badgering him most of the time until he finally did. :P I wish you all the best in the future mhawk. Take care, and keep in touch.

To Crimson King, you will make a damn fine leader. I just wish I could be around to see it.

Time to let my nation delete now (only a day or two away). Maybe someday after my Army training and such is done, and granted I'm not shipped to Afghanistan right away, I'll return to CN, and I hope to see TPF burning even brighter.

Take care folks.
