Mongol Federation
In North Kazakh, a new city, made up mostly of gers and other tents, had grown up. Teams were already clearing out those who had settled at the center of the city to make room for the Federal Palace, laying out a grid for roads and backhoes worked to dig a trench along the premature of the city which would soon hold the foundation for a defensive wall. Batukhan walked by a group of agricultural engineers as they argued about the feasibility of irrigating the surrounding land for farming. Batukhan turned to his vassal khan for the Khanate of North Kazakh, Al, "What do you think of the city? "It's not much to look at, my Lord but it shall be. I have some plans for the Federal Palace for you to look over," and Al handed over a pice of paper, folded over several times. Batukhan tuned to al and smiled, "You are a good friend and architect, I trust I'll approve." Al bowed and left for a meeting with his advisers and Batukhan unfolded the paper. A defensive granite wall, 10 feet wide and 30 feet tall, surrounded the complex. Gatehouses at the northern, eastern, southern and western points were also apparent and rose 10 feet above the wall. They were topped by what was labeled as 4 evenly placed anti-personnel/amour machine guns. Evenly placed between the gatehouses were 10 towers rising 20 feet above the wall and extending out form the wall 10 feet. They were toped by what was labeled as light artillery. Batukhan smiled, impressed but then sobered and mumbled to himself, "The walls need firing slits." He also noticed a 20 foot wide canal directly behind the wall and crossed by what was labeled as stainless steel drawbridges raised and lowed on the far side. A large passenger/cargo elevator rose thru a wall 20 feet tall and stopped at the top of the 2nd level which extended 20 feet, the last 10 feet being yet another canal. Arching over the canal to allow the water to flow, a stairway/cargo loading ramp rose up to the next level. He saw that this was repeated 9 times creating a 10 terraced hill 1 sq. mile in size and rising 180 feet. The 10th terrace was a large leveled area covering the remaining circumference of the hill. At the top level were 8 50 foot wide buildings that looked like spokes extending to within 10 feet of the terrace's edge. Each spoke connected to a circler building which surrounded a larger domed building rising 10 stories. Extending from the primary and secondary buildings were 8 20 foot wide halls connecting the spokes to the rest of the palace. The remaining 10 was a paved walkway ringed by a 5 foot tall safety granite wall which was toped, according to the labels, by evenly spaced ornate lamps. Similar walkways, 5 feet wide, extended between the stairways and squiggly lines covering the remaining area of the terraces were labeled as gardens though what kind wasn't mentioned, "Forests," Batukhan mumbled to himself. Batukhan then returned to his ger and started contacting his best engineers.
Mongol Federation
Batukhan looked at the man before him, a small and skinny Buddhist Monk by the name of Chikan "You're a fine example of a peaceful Mongol... God help us all as the Westerners would say." Both men laughed then Batukhan continued, I'm selling you south," Batukhan chuckled, "You'll be our negotiator. You're to accept the terms offered if they offer military support until we have no need of it and which offers aid in development. Reject any terms that lack these terms or leave us as little more then a puppet. They don't seem to be the controlling types, so that'll likely not be an issue. Now go." Chikan bowed and left. Edited April 27, 2010 by Mongol Federation
Mongol Federation
Batukhan walked along the city permitter, the foundation was laid and the city's wall was already begening to take shape. He turned and looked toward the center of the city and saw the hill that would become his palace also raising from the ground. Smiling he turned toward Chikan, "Our city will be a sight to behold will it not? How did the negotiations go?" Chikan bowed, "Indeed my lord. As for the treaty...", he handed over a document. "Good, good. You have served your nation and people well this day, Chikan" Batukhan then turned and began walking to his ger, the new treaty in hand. Edited April 21, 2010 by Mongol Federation
Mongol Federation
Batukhan smiled as he read the headline, 'RAIL NETWORK COMPLETED'. At long last the Mongol Federation could join the ranks of internationally trading nations. He looked up from the paper to the economic experts that had been called in to advise him, "And we can expect a GDP increase in the millions over the next year?" The advisers nodded in the affirmative. "This is good news. I'd hate to be master of a poor nation You are dismissed but I feel I'll have need of you all, so do not leave the city." Edited April 28, 2010 by Mongol Federation
Mongol Federation
Batukhan stood before his partly completed palace his image on every major news channel in the Mongol Federation, "Today, my people, is a glorious day and the dawn of a new age! Today I announce the creation of a constitutional convention! Up until now, I and my underlings have ruled as if kings but a republic is our intention and so a republic shall be declared. To facilitate this, you the people, as well as dignitaries form other major and local powers, shall be invited to the place behind me, who's lobby and reception hall has been completed, and together we shall hammer out our future." The khan then left and began walking to his place for the 1st time. He would still have to live in his ger, he knew but he wished to see what his new home looked like. Mongol Federation
Batukhan looked on in awe despite himself as his great place, no ziggurat he decided, as it rose ever higher. A 3rd of it's hight was completed and the palace grounds were landscaped with landscaping work on the 1st 2 terraces underway. He smiled as he thought of what he had just seen in the now completed Ground Lobby, it was even grander. A marbled floor stretching across the whole expanse, shining almost like a mirror. Great granite pillars, smoothed to perfection and painted a brilliant white. Spiral staircases to match. The walls made of mirrors which doubled as great display screes that could display everything from the most inspiring Mongol propaganda to an image of the outside, as clear as a window, thanks to a system of HD cameras placed along the palace wall. Batukhan turned and took in his city, even further along then the palace. Great boulevards crisscrossed the city, unpaved for the most part and the beginnings of skyscrapers could be seen across the skyline. Smaller roads and buildings were already completed and filled with the fervent activity and frantic noise of midday city life, a fine replacement for the shanty town that New Ulaanbaatar had been. Yes, it would be a fine city once completed.
Mongol Federation
Batukhan smiled as the bell rang for the 1st time. The lobby of the Presidential Palace once finally completed and with it's completion, the fluctuating prices of the world's goods flowed across the displays, the fortunes of companies were made and lost and the investors of Mongolia gathered. It was a capitalist's heaven and a socialist's hell. It was the New Ulaanbaatar Stock Exchange or NUSE. OOC: I just got the Stock Market wonder.
