Head Director Leon Chevalier appeared on all public stations and major news networks in Brittany. His face was stern and slightly pink, and he was dressed in his favorite blue shirt on top of a particularly worn pair of jeans. Sweat dripped down his eyebrows and he ripped off the gloves that were currently on his hands. He had been up all day helping construct homes for the poor and had only recently stopped to watch the foolish ceremony.

"I like how you started saying Third Reich and hurriedly cut yourself off there. Great move, that." Chevalier did not smile as the rest of the reporters around him cracked some of their own. "You are 'above everything', and it is your 'divine duty' to reunify France. Am I wrong?" He asked hypothetically. Chevalier slammed his fist on the podium in front of him and started raising his voice. "This is nothing more than a political stunt designed to gain points from the people who refuse to give them to you freely!"

Chevalier motioned for a young man to come to him. He had a nice build and was rather handsome, with a Spanish tan but American style. He smiled as Chevalier growled. "This is Prince Louis, a man directly descended from the Royal Throne. His history and family is well-known and well-documented, and if the rest of the claimants to the throne are dead then he is in fact the sole remaining heir. No false claims of descent from Charlemagne, no self-appointed German King... but an actual, legitimate, claim." Prince Louis stepped back.

"You have claimed it is your divine right to reunify France, and so it is thus my right to interpret that you will do whatever you wish to reunify. This is a threat to Brittany, and will be taken as such. There will be no conference, there will be no diplomacy, there will be no reunification. You are a liar, a thief, and a madman. Good day." The broadcast ended just after, and Chevalier returned to his home.

Empress Josephine who watched this broadcast began to laugh quite hystericly and called her Imperial Guards in to keep her company in the church, assault rifles and such back in the locked van, armed with machinepistoles inside their jackets for any trouble.

"Who the? What the? Where did the flying pigs go? What?" KP Varma woke up startled from his nap.
"Sir, you are in the Cathedral of Notre Dame, the new King is speaking. Don't worry, you can go back to sleep. There is nothing of importance being told here."
"Should have brought cotton, ear muffs, at least some carrots......" KP Varma mumbled to himself and went back to sleep.

In the VIP section, the Prince and Princess of Ossetia, Revia and Helene Ambrai, sit quietly and watch the proceedings, murmuring to themselves every now and then at the events being played out before them. Speaking in their native Ossetic, they respond in perfect French if addressed by a member of the congregation. Though having more faith in the security of the host country by not being surrounded by members of the Jihan'Rei, two of them are close by in the media section, keeping an eye on things, noting the slight unrest of the crowd and preparing to jump into action if need be.

For now, they continue to observe the startling events of the day, wondering if the newly crowned Charles XI is capable of bringing about the change so needed in France, and what the ramifications will be either way. Noting KP Varma's reaction, Revia nudges his wife and shares a smile.

The reaction from the Taeunas delegation was a somewhat unimpressed interest. At the proclamation of the... divinity... of the entire affair, a look was passed between all the members of the delegation. Etain leaned in and whispered to the Major in command of the detail. "Transmit a short report to Dublin. Ask them for instructions."

The Major nodded and talked low into his suits internal com system. After a couple of minutes, the reply came through over the secure network. He turned to Etain and nodded. "Taeunas will attend this conference, in the hopes of furthering the peace in Europe. Slainte, your highness."

Bazzani blinked for a moment, and then started texting on his smartphone. "Old king abdicates. Young king says he's divine. Prepare to cut off travel with Burgundy. Conference in Versailles to discuss reunification of France. Place north-western border on highest alert."

In the corner, the two agents posing as a news crew weren't phased by being moved over. They simply detached the camera from the tripod and turned their backs on the ceremony, one holding the camera under his arm pointed at it. A crude, if simple and effective, way of taping when people thought you weren't looking.

OOC: It is not the King, it is the Foreign Minister, KP Varma, LOL.

IC: KP Varma was woke up by his Secretary and saw the diplomat from People's Republic of China, "Good day, Good day. So you are the representative from the People's Republic? I have not met you earlier. My name is KP Varma, Minister of External Affairs. And you are?"

Said Al-Malak was standing off in one of the cloisters, admiring some of the artwork that adorned the Cathedral when he heard a voice speaking to him from behind his left shoulder. He was surprised for a moment to see the hulking frame of Nyani Oshibutu's security chief standing in front of him.

"Ah yes, I had actually been wondering the same thing myself. While I cant speak for the other delegations, I do know that the Sicilian Governmnet changed the rules for diplomatic security after Jean's abduction by insurgents in Southern Italy. Since the Steward just escaped from captivity I would surmise that his security detail has been increased to avoid a repeat incident on his first trip overseas of late.

I know we havent heard of any specific security threats, I cant speak for the other delegations though. It is very interesting the level of security they brought with them, especially with the Burgundian Security Forces having a 2km Green Zone around the Cathedral.

Ah, how rude of me, Im Said Al-Malak, Brigadier General in the Sicilian Army.

If Imamu had any reservations regarding the news about insurgents in Southern Italy, as the NoN had previously sent terror cells of its own into the region immediately following the Borghese Regime's fall, he did not show it.

"Thank you General, I apologize for wasting your time. I shall leave you to your duties.... Farewell." With a quick salute, he left, aiming to rejoin Nyani-

His hand twitched for a moment but his side arm remained holstered.

After seeing to it that Zelle and Martens were in the glass box, the the security details sealed off the cathedral, so that no one could get in or out of the building, and no one outside the cathedral could see what was going on. All communications between the inside and outside still went on. The two-kilometer cordon was in full effect, so that there was no weapons* in any buildings nearby. There was no way a sniper would be able to shoot into the cathedral.

With the VIP guests in the glass box, and the others outside, Henri VII came to the podium to speak.

"I am honored that the people of Burgundy has elected me King. For too long has the throne of France been empty, crushed under fascists and foreign powers. At least, the rightful person has come to the throne.

However, I am old, and with no children, my death will bring the lines of French Royalty to a complete end. New blood is needed for a new France. Therefore, I, Henri Philippe Pierre Marie de Bourbon-Orléans, King of France, abdicate, and pass on the throne to my successor and adopted son.....
Charles Martin de Bourbon-Hohenzollern"
* OOC: Does not include Taeunas' Special Forces, which is the only thing I can see so far that would have gotten pass the cordon.

Imamu noticed Burgundese security sealing off the exits, with only slight alarm. Nevertheless, he reached his charge's side and promptly took a seat with her.

The two had no pre-existing conditions or biases in Europe. They cared little for its history or culture and merely watched the Coronation for what it was... a spectacle... mere pomp and circumstance.

They were at least polite. Sitting towards the rear, Nyani and Imamu could see various delegates and their disrespect towards the new King, the ceremony, and quite frankly Burgundy. This left a bitter taste in their mouths.

Nyani leaned towards Imamu and whispered into his audio receptor.

*"They are lucky that we are in France. If they dared do such things in the NoN, diplomats or not, they would be expelled immediately!"*

Imamu nodded silently in agreement.

Karl Martin von Hohenzollern, who was also a VIP, stood up from his seat and went near the throne, with the Archbishop of Rheims. As he started moving, the security detail stopped all television crews except those of Burgundy within the building from filming, and escorted them to a far off-corner, with the equipments pointed downward. Only the official broadcasting would be needed for now.

The unction was made with a small particle of the contents of the Holy Ampulla mixed with chrism and was given, first on the top of the head in the form of a cross, then on the breast, between the shoulders, and at the joints of both arms. Karl was then vested in the dalmatic, tunic and royal robe, all of purple velvet sprinkled with fleurs-de-lys of gold, representing the three Catholic orders of subdeacon, deacon and priest. Kneeling again, he was anointed in the palms of both hands, after which the royal gloves, ring and sceptre were delivered. Then the peers were summoned by name to come near and assisted

When the Archbishop of Reims took the Crown of Charlemagne, finally found, from the altar and set it on the king's head, a sudden blinding light filled the cathedral. A young woman, with a halo and carrying banner, appeared near Karl. She spoke in a heavenly voice, "Noble King, now is accomplished the will of God, who desired that I should bring you to this city of Reims to receive you holy coronation, thus showing that you are the true King, him to whom the throne of France must belong." and disappeared. The Archbishop, after setting the crown on Karl's head, said "Très haut, très puissant et très excellent Prince, Charles XI, Par la grâce de Dieu, Empereur des Français, Roi Très-chrétien" and bid him rise.

Charles XI then moved to the podium.

"Many of you might be wondering why I, a German, am here right now. It is because I am also French, having been born in this Grand Nation. As a descendent of Charlesmagne, the Frank who was the first true King of France, it is only logical that I, a German, also has a claim. In addition, I have a drea.

I am above the petty arguments that Europe has always been in. I am above the likes of people who ask for war to destroy others, in order to 'help' friends. I am above everything, for it is my divine duty to bring about the reunification of France. I, Charles XI, Emperor of the Third Re- Empire, invite Aquitaine and Brittany, with Deutschland, RNNS, Scotland, and Taeunas, to a conference in Versailles, to bring about reunification and peace!"
[s]Imamu was fortunate enough to see the Burgundese ploy for what it was... a mere magic trick.

He was immune to the flash's blinding light. He saw the world through 9mm of polarized glass and saw the woman as she was quickly dropped into place, the crane descending into a hatch concealed in the apis just before the first of the unshielded delegates recovered.[/s]

Imamu was taken aback by the latest Burgundese ploy. He was immune to the blinding flash, for he saw the world through 9mm of laminated ballistic glass, but did not see any apparent means for the woman's sudden appearance beside the King. Puzzled, he did not mention this to Nyani as her vision returned to her, as well as the other unshielded people in the Cathedral. He merely stared at the woman for the duration of her 'visit' and began to contemplate things of the meta-physical.

OOC: [s]If KM wants to say she appeared any other way, go ahead, i'll edit it. Whatever it was, however, Imamu saw it. [/s]

James, after noticing he was being sealed in, sent a private message to the Prime Minister and his family. It stated should anything happen to him as a result of being sealed in to ensure Novak will continue on, to dismantle the Monarchy and to capture and transport Charles XI to Novak for execution.

Nikita had remained silent the entire time not caring too much about what happened however when the doors were locked she had to notice, not trusting Burgundy she send a short message to Supreme Command in Athens.

"Locked in, in case of no further response within 12 hours send in Special Forces. Keep spy satellites aimed at current location"

At the cordon, the Liberty Guardsmen had loudly protested the ban on weapons. They refused to allow their weapons to be touched by the Burgundians, for it was Liberty Guard policy not to let any but a comrade-in-arms hold their weapons. Any effort to take the weapon away was met with a rifle butt in the stomach, which, as King James mentioned before entering, any violent retaliation to would be considered a threat on the life of his adviser, a Slavic soldier, and himself, and would result in an immediate, very angry national response. In the end, one of the guards was left behind with the rifles, sidearms, and knives, while the other two marched, unarmed, but still dangerous, with the king, adviser, 'aide,' and 'minister.'

----

As the doors were locked, Donegan suddenly broke out in a cold sweat.
"What is it?" James asked, sipping his Scotch.
"My claustrophobia, man," Donegan groaned. "I'm fine being in a box till it's a locked box."
"Locked? The hell are you talking about?" James asked, standing up on his toes to see the door.
"They just locked the door."
"What? No. How in the $%&@ is that diplomatic?"
"It's not."
"You have your phone?" James asked, holding out his hand.
"Uhhh...." Donegan felt around his pocket. "Yeah. Why?"
"Just give me the damn thing," James snapped, and Donegan handed him the phone.
James sent off a text to the Slavic Prime Minister and Chiefs of Staff, reading 'trout tastes bad suffocated.'

With that done, James handed it back to Donegan and walked over to his counterpart, the James from Novak. He stuck his hand out, smiling. "I've wanted to meet with you for awhile. How're you?" Without waiting for an answer, he pressed on. "Donegan here just got a bit claustrophobic. You notice a feeling like that?" He jerked his head toward the sealed doors. Then he stopped. "Where's Donegan?"

He then saw his adviser sprinting towards the stage, a cold sweat still visible from the distance. He stopped a few feet from Charles XI, tore off his shirt, leaving just his white undershirt, and stretching the shirt's front logo over his head. "I'm really happy for you, and I'll let you finish, but first, read this!" He brandished the shirt angrily. "Unlock the god damn doors, this is making me sicker than when I felt that bulge in that groupie's pants." He paused. "That was saying too much. On topic again, unlock the !@#$@#$ doors!" He turned to the crowd. "Never trust a !@#$@#$ Frenchman!" he shouted.

Orlov inched over to King James and whispered, "Should I...get him?"
James watched Donegan for a second and shook his head. "Naaah. Let's watch this play out. Donegan's been working out since before he worked for me, it should be interesting when security detains - or tries to detain - him."
"Yes, sir."
Then James had second thoughts. "Be near him, just in case. They have weapons, likely, we don't."
