Botha Posted January 26, 2010 Report Share Posted January 26, 2010 STORMS BATTER CAPE OF GOOD HOPE TRANSVALER DAAGLIKSE NUUS [CAPE TOWN]: Fierce storms crashed down on the south coast of the Cape of Good Hope, causing widespread flooding, disruption, and downed power lines. Hundreds of people had to be evacuated from their homes and crops in the region were destroyed. In response to the tragedy, the Government distributed aid to the bereaved and displaced. Meteorologists have blamed global warming for the unusual weather systems brought northwards from the polar regions and predict the acrimonious weather will last for around a month through the high summer.
