Battle of New Hope

UCF forces had just taken the town of New Hope with little resistance and their 3rd and 4th IDs were heavily dug in with a total of 3,000 deep in New Hope as a reserve. A total of 17,000 were positioned in a circle that spread 200 meters outside New Hope and were heavily armed and entrenched. 10,000 men had AK-47s, 5,000 had PK MGs, 1,000 had RPGs and another 1,000 had mortars. Their plan was to first launch RPGs and mortars at Allied forces as they approached and then open up with everything as the Allies set up positions. The 3,000 UCF soldiers in New Hope had an escape plan ready, a gap in the northern part of the circle (OOC: Opposite position from where the Allies will be coming) was not filled with men for 100 meters which would allow the rest of the UCF forces to escape if the defense failed.

The first Army Corps spread itself out into its 4 divisions and 5 smaller battalions and spread itself out into its assault columns and battlegroups.

300 tanks and 100 heavy artillery batteries waited at the rear of the allied lines for the command to fire.

All of the 2nd and 3rd IDs combat brigades lined up with their New Eden counterparts and waited. About 10 minutes later a Tuplov bomber escorted by 2 F-22 Raptors came in and dropped a MOAB on the front lines of UCF forces. As soon the bomb was dropped and the planes safely out of harm's way, all artillery, machine gunners and mortar men were ordered to open up.

As soon the bomb was dropped and the planes safely out of harm's way, all artillery, machine gunners and mortar men were ordered to open up.

Over 100 artillery guns opened fire, the begining of a long and vicious bombardment lasting hours.

THe bombs and explosions rolling off the buildings and clouds like thunder, the sounds of the gods were present, and they were angry.

On the far left flank, where 75% of the Artillery was concentrated the first army corps assault division approached and remained hidden behind banks of smoke, dust and snow. forty tanks rolled forwards and charged the UCF lines followed by the ten thousand infantrymen behind.

Two AC130's, just assigned from an assault on the Reich, were now refuled and over the combat zone reigning death down onto the defenders from the air...

The 3rd IDs 1st and 2nd Combat Brigades, along with elements of the 10th Armored moved parallel to New Eden forces.

The UCF was hurt, but not out of the game, they'd lost 200 RPG soldiers, 300 mortatmen, 500 MGers, and 300 regulars, yet they remained. The UCF began firing at least 600 RPGs and 700 mortars on Allied tanks and killed 50 Blue Heaven soldiers from the Golf Company, 2nd Combat Batt., 1st Combat Brigade. A total of 9,700 regulars, 4,500had PK MGs, 800 RPG soldiers and 700 mortarmen remained.

With the tanks taking the brunt of the assault the men dived into craters and clefts in the ground to take cover, the artillery intensified as both AC130's began reigning hell, danger close right ontop of the rebels. the artillery also pounding the hell out of an area of land around 25 meters long and 15 meters wide.

Several tanks were struck down and disabled by the RPG's and two were destroyed outright, soldiers from New Eden advanced slowly behind wrecks, slaying everything in their path, and by the time the soldiers got t the first line of defences and took the trench at the points of bayonets, out of 10,000 initial men of that column, 7,200 remained alonside 6 tanks and 100 artillery pieces.

The AC130's moved off to another part of the line to support BH soldiers and the second and third columns now storming at the UCF.

500 UCF soldiers came out to the northern front of the battle and when they were 500 meters away from New Eden forces launched 200 RPGs and 300 mortars.

Meanwhile the 3rd Combat Brigade of the 2nd Infantry moved up along with their counterparts in the 1st and 2nd Combat Brigades of the same divsion. They had the M109s aim directly for the UCF entrenched forces and then under machinegun cover, the 3rd CB advanced slowly, killing a total of 300 UCF forces while losing 200 of their own. Then the 11th Armored came and started firing.

Night fell and all Allied forces immediately put on their NVGs. The 3rd and 2nd CBs, along with elements of the 11th Armored took the trench. They were now 400 meters away from their New Eden counterparts who were also in that same trench. The 1st Batt. of the 1st CB linked up with their New Eden counter parts while the 2nd Batt. stayed in reserve. The 1st Batt. lost a total of 300 men to gun, mortar, and RPG fire.

The gunships had gone to refuel and rearm during the night and so the eight f1 phantoms ran sorties all night against the UCF, striking down an estimated 500 soldiers in total with cluster bombs and large unguided weaponry.

The Second column pushed forward, with 150 heavy tanks spear heading the attack, right through the far right flanks line of defences and got to the 3rd line of defence before being forced to retreat back to the second trench, killing an estimated 800 UCF fighters, loosing 47 tanks and almost 1200 of their own soldiers.

Now two Tuplovs came and dropped two MOABs on the right flank of defense, killing 700 UCF soldiers. As soon as the bombs had finished their destruction, the 2nd Batt. of the 1st CB attacked the right flank, aided by 50 tanks and the 3rd CB of the 3rd ID.

With only two phantoms now in air support due to refulling and re arming, they came down in two directions and lit up the 3rd trench with napalm strikes, causing a blazing X across the ground, sorching anything caught in its vicinty, intel suggests over 800 men were killed including several Mg nests.

The second column began advancing once more, with 8800 men they slowly moved past the 3rd trench and entered the city, the 3rd and fourth columns close behind.

Stone decided to focus his remaining three columns in one place to break the enemys ranks.

With the remaining 340 tanks or so, they moved onto a main street before quickly moving back into cover as the street lit up with gufire and rockets.

The advance team, some 220 allied men split up into squads and flanked the enemy buildings, cleaning them one by one loosing only 62 soldiers in the process.

News came in on the radio that the AC130's were backon station and were now selecting high profile targets via thermal imaging and blasting them to hell, causing untold damage and killing somwhere around the 650 mark.

With the New Eden attack, the northern front had been taken. The western front was being contested and Brig. Gen. Mary Socks decided to open up a fight on the eastern front. She sent the 1st and 2nd CBs of the 3rd Infantry along with 25 tanks to open up the eastern front.

The Air Force sent out 2 Blackhawks to fly over the city and take out any enemy. The Blackhawks came in and began to destroy UCF forces on the ground, killing a total of 200 of the UCF reserves. One of the Blackhawks flew low to aim for a small UCF force with their gun and was hit by an RPG. They crashed and landed in the middle of New Hope. No one was hurt, but on board were 2 pilots and 5 soldiers, three rifleman, one machinegunner, and one sniper.

The New Eden advance force saw the Blackhawk go down about several blocks down the road and so Gen Stone ordered them to make an extraction.

After a harrowing firefight the soldiers reached the blackhawk.

Meanwhile back at the first column.

The surviving 7200 soldiers now made a big push inwards towards trench two, but found it deserted, however sniperfire and morters forced them to move carefully, another 97 casualties as they reached trench three which was also deserted.

They moved into the square infront of them without thinking. They just walked in, aiming everywhere and several heavy machineguns opened up in a deadly crossfire, snipers on the roofs, men throwing molatovs into the soldiers crowded in dense ranks below them.

3000 casualties before they pulled out and got the gunships to level the square.

UCF forces, now numbering 5,800 saw that the battle had been lost and began to make a massive retreat. 1,000 UCF soldiers remained behind and 900 fought to the death while 100 donned suicide vests and ran into both New Eden and Blue Heaven forces and blew themselves up, killing 800 Blue Heaven soldiers.

A total of 6,000 Blue Heaven soldiers and 60 M1A2 tanks were killed during the Battle of New Hope.

Two Combat Brigades were killed from the 2nd ID compared to one by the 3rd ID. Officially the 2nd Infantry is now out of commission.

Strike Force Ranger began dropping out of the skies infront of the fleeing enemy soldiers.

when the force landed they immediatly began opening fire and wiping the UCF out.

roughly 4800 enemy soldiers ran blindly in a panic right at the awaiting specialists and were mown down.

of the 5000 rangers, only 132 were killed, as opposed to 4500 casualties for the UCF threat in the area of New Hope was eliminated.

Total body count for NE = 8290 (give or take)

Total kill count for NE = 7600 (Give or take)

General Raza Mikhail was suprised to see that there'd been a 52% casualty rate among the 3rd Division "Jesus' Holy Warriors." They were some of the finest the UCF had to offer. He quickly decided to go to the council immediately.

"Hello General Mikhail," said Leo smoothly, "There're rumors going around that your division was defeated at New Hope. I hope those aren't true."

Mikhail cursed quietly to himself. Crap! I've lost the battle and the chances of me getting on the council are thin. Now that punk Niel will probably get it!

"Well, council, unfortunately those rumors are true. The 3rd ID did, in fact, lose the battle for New Hope. There was a 52% casualty rate. But--"

"But nothing!" snapped Anna, a member of the council. "You lost and that's all there is to it."

"But, council," Mikhail began to plead "they brought in planes and-and they-they had t-tanks. It was too-"

Suddenly two men dressed in boots, jeans, and turtlenecks burst into the room. One was wearing a green turtleneck, General John Heat, commander of the 6th ID and the other man was General Mitchell Bee, commander of the 7th ID. Bee spoke up first. Both smirked at Mikhail.

"I think that General Mikhail lost because he has little military experience, being in the National Guard and all. I was in the 1st Infantry Division and saw some combat in Damacious. I think that my friend," he said, geustering to Heat, "would be much more effective in defeating this godless government." Bee then winked at Leo, Leo smiled back.

"I have to say," began Leo "that I think that Bee is correct, both he and Heat have seen combat and would have much better judgement on the battlefield."

"Well..." said Beth "we were thinking of opening up a western front, near the town of Wyne, so I guess that it'd be good to put them in charge."

Bee and Heat both wanted to inquire that it was OK, but they resisted the urge.

"So we're all OK with it?" Leo asked the rest of the council.

Every member of the council gave a thumbs up.

The 2nd ID is out of commission and has been replaced with the 2nd Airborne. Meanwhile the 1st National Guard Division and the 13th Armored are moving toward a town named Hyt, about 300 miles from the major town of Wyne.

In the Ministry of Defense's HQ in the capital, there was a meeting of Minister of Defense Colin Powell, Prime Minister Roger Smith, Generals Rya Thompson and Duo Meen. They were waiting for General Stone of New Eden.

***Private-UFC***
