Scottish Ultimatum

Proxian Empire

As stated by Finland, we are not the world police. We most certainly condemn your actions nonetheless. We also do not appreciate your implied threats nor your provocations, as you seek to further destabilise this issue.

No, you destabilized the situation as soon as you said "leave or we'll attack". We are protecting our friends. We will not back down from protecting our friends. You and Finland will be starting a fight you cannot win should you keep down the current path.

The land is Louisiana's. Deal with it, or do something about it.

We again observe clear provocations against us despite offering a peaceful resolution. Your aggressiveness towards Scotland as well as Iberian stability has been noted.

No peace resolutions have been offered, rather Scotland has continued to threaten Louisiana.

You have Louisiana's answer: We will not abandon our sovereign territory.

Peaceful Resolution offered: Stop being aggressive and allow Spain to do what any sovereign nation has the right to do.

You're welcome.

Correction: We have offered a peaceful compromise should you make this a diplomatic enclave opposed to a hostile, militaristic institution. Should no troops remain on Iberian soil and your intentions be made peaceful, we can put this issue behind us.

Sorry, Louisiana does not give in to the demands of a hostile state. Members of Louisiana's military as well as their diplomatic corps will remain.

"Quite simply, the people of the region wished to become a part of Spain... Unless of course, the area of land in question has no people occupying it, before Louisiana arrives, this transfer goes against the will of the people, and as such Rebel Army condemns it. If there are no people in said land portion, then we have no opinion on this matter. Though regardless, we offer to house all parties involved in this situation to discuss this matter with words and diplomacy, and Rebel Army offers to host these proposed negotiations in Gibraltar."

'We would like to mention that no Spanish Civilians are currently located in the Louisiana Base at this time. A Military base is no place for a family to live, they have all been offered aid and help finding new jobs, the same has been done with all businesses in this location.

We thank The Rebel Army for granting these lands to us and wish for no citizens to be harmed. We have no hostile thoughts or plans and we plan to keep it that way, we appreciate the Rebel Army government for looking out after our citizens.'

Alejandro.

"The Italian Federation owns a military base in Oceania. Does the Italian Federation plan to invade Oceania? Viniland and the Rebel army own military bases in South America. Do they plan to invade South America? We recently owned Arkhangelsk. Did we ever invade Slavorussia?"

Either Scotland is an aggressive warmonger or a paranoid aggressor, and I would think neither are healthy for Europe.

"Continuing on this train of thought.

Caucasia owns the Canaries. Do we plan to invade the Sarnungian Republic? no.

We own Archangelsk. do we plan to invade Slavorussia? No.

We have an Antarctic base. Do we plan to invade Dranagg? No.

Grøenlandia formerly held a Canary island. Did they invade us or Carthage? No.

The HAE owns the Azores. Are they planning to invade Europe? I doubt it."

"And what if nothing is done about this situation and next year Louisiana does invade Scotland, or whenever it gets a CB? Will we all just say "I told you so"? Surely, but few will help them."

"If that's the case, Louisiana would pay not only at the hands of their opponents in this case, but also at the hands of their supporters. No one likes to be fooled. They're aware that sort of treachery would not help them."

Look at their base and the location of Scotland. They would have to cross multiple neutral nations to even reach Scotland. If Louisiana did have the evil plan you claim they have, they could have simply asked us, an ally, for some land on our coast, giving them a clear route to Scotland.

We trust our allies. They do not have any malicious intents with the military base, I can assure you.

Statement from the League

Our world is becoming increasingly paranoid and divided along various continental and cultural lines, both real and imagined. So long as the people are treated fairly and freely the League does not care how far away the capital of the ruling nation is. Many nations today either have military relationships or wish to have military relationships with nations on other continents. In order for nations on other continents to support each other it is necessary for them to retain military installations near their allies to be used as transit or staging points in the event they need to come to the aid of their allies. As can clearly be seen from the discussions here, Louisiana has allies in Europe and Africa which forces them to seek out a military installation such as the one they negotiated for on the Iberian Peninsula.

Give the fact that the land transfer was the result of a fair negotiations between Louisiana and Spain and also given the fact that, at least up until now, we have not heard of atrocities being committed on the Louisiana Purchase (OOC: :P) I have no reason to oppose the creation of such a base.

However, as such a base seems to be inflaming tensions and threatens to ignite a war on the Mediterranean I would like to invite both Scotland and Louisiana to discuss ways to resolve this situation with me. Accommodations will be made here in Sicily, all that I would ask is that both sides stop issuing each other ultimatums and unilateral 'compromises' and start actually talking to each other. If physically being in the same room with representatives of the other side is impossible at this time, I am willing to engage in shuttle diplomacy to resolve this situation.

Steward of the Sicilian League

"Sounds fairly reasonable, I suppose, but either way this is likely to spiral into war anyway. Neither of the sides wants to give in."

"Indeed. There have been many points this could have been prevented; if the agreement had not been made, and if Scotland had not issued their ultimatum, for instance. I'm not a big fan of foreign influence in Europe, but this is a perfectly legal treaty between two nations. They just happen to be on different continents."

"Ultimatums are silly. Period.

With that said, we congratulate both Spain and Louisiana for their deal and urge Scotland and its allies not to start yet other pointless war over trivial things that would be best left off to sovereign nations. After all, Louisiana and Spain had agreed to a deal and the former was allowed to establish a military base in Spanish land, with Spanish consent, permission, authorization, agreement, whatever you prefer. It's not like Louisiana aggressively forced a base on Spain's lands without its permission, which is certainly not the case here."

Scottish Ultimatum

Scotland will not tolerate the presence of a foreign, hostile nation such as Louisiana to establish a military encampment in the Iberian Peninsula. It is our responsibility as members of the Iberian Pact to ensure the protection, safety, and liberty of the Iberian people. The presence of Louisiana military forces is absolutely not tolerable.

North America has dictated that they do not want foreign presence within their continent, and thus we expect the same. Louisiana will immediately evict itself from our vicinity or face drastic consequences.

-King Douglas of Scotland

Euzkadi stands ready to aid our Scottish allies, our armed forces have been placed on alert and will engage if such action is deemed necessary.

All forces are now at Defcon 2 status.

The Kingdom of Cochin condemns the preemptive aggression by Scotland and its allies on Louisiana. Louisiana has obtained the territory legally, and whether the said acquisition is for aggressive or passive purposes is something that can only be seen in the future. As of now it is a legal transaction between two sovereign nations.

Speaking of foreigners, how is Scotland ever native to Iberia? What right does Scotland have to dictate events in Iberia?

Scotland has oft quoted their protectorate agreements. We would like to point out to you other such doctrines such as Zhukov Doctrine and the Lhasa Doctrine which governs stability in some regions, however Vauleo-Buryatia does not involve in the foreign policy or infringe upon the sovereignty of nations that come up in regions under Zhukov Doctrine.

Scotland's misplaced aggressions would have better placed if there were indeed a hostile action by Louisiana in Iberia.

To those nations questioning the need of military bases in Europe, we point out the examples of Bosaso and Makanrushi. Bosaso was a heavily militarized military/industrial area that existed in Somalia for more than 8 years. However did that ever mean Bosaso had to be the launchpad for a Cochin aggression against other African nations? No. The Kingdom established a heavily fortified military base in the island of Makanrushi in the old Haruhiist Empire. The base was so garrisoned that it could verily impact on the sovereignties of several nations in the region. However did any such thing occur? No.

From the non compromising stance of Scotland regarding Louisiana we have to deduce that they would only be satisfied by a test of arms. In such a case we wish Scotland in surviving the coming onslaught. The death and destruction of your nation would have been directly caused by your unfounded paranoia.
