Korea committed acts of aggression against other countries and clearly attempted to goad the British into military action with the Federation. This is hardly vassalization. If the UFE did not wish Korea independence, it would not have given Korea independence.

Britain urges our brothers in Ireland, and our brothers in Germany alike to cool their tongues. We officially support the new German regime, but we urge certain policies be reviewed in light of the strong opposition it has stirred up. Moreover we request a meeting with the new German regime to discuss how the new regime will affect Anglo-German relations.

We also request that should the former Althing be found, they be permitted to live a life of exile within Britain as opposed to being tried as traitors to Germany. They ruled in the interests of the people and to do so, sacrifices must be made. They did nothing wrong apart from make a few sacrifices to better the lifestyle for the average German.

"The Athenian Federation has experienced fascism first hand, from the fascist regimes in Italy and Spain in the 20th Century to the Borghese regime only a few decades ago. Franco, Mussolini, Borghese. Not to forget the cultural oppression a large part of Europe fell victim to. I as the leader of a free and socialist country can not in good faith support this regime change. We signed a treaty with Germany, not this Junta so it is the true Germany we will support. Furthermore I join my brethern and sisters in the east. Any attempt to violate the sovereignty of the free Austrian state will be responded to by a vengeance not seen in years.

We hope the German people see sense and welcome any elements of the old government to the Athenian Federation as the legitimate government of the German state."

"Rebel Army echos it's Athens counterparts. Fascism is brutal and oppressive. We struggled with it in our own, then, countries; I fought alongside many and watched countless people make the ultimate sacrifice to rid them, their families, and friends, of Fascist chains. As such, Rebel Army does not recognize this new regime in Germany, recognizes the Althing as the legitimate government of Germany, will not defend this pathetic excuse of a government, and will refuse passage to any and all German military ships and vessels throughout her sea and airspace, including the Suez and Straits of Gibraltar." -Lavo Shalam

RA intelligence would be tasked with finding any resistance groups/organizations against the new government within Germany, and once found and identified, to fund and arm them whenever possible.

After the new policies of the Germanic Union were released, the Austrian Chancellery responded in turn. The newly elected Austrian Chancellor, Wilhelm Kirche, of the Austrian Catholic Labor Party, who had been an advisor to Emperor Alexander during the first Civil War had risen with great popularity after Bridgette Saenger had left the country.

"Citizens of Austria, Subjects of Her Majesty,

I speak to you now in response to the grievous insults that our Northern 'brethren' have made upon our nation and people. This new regime in Germany builds upon a lie that held Europe in bondage for years before liberators from outside of Europe managed to break the stranglehold. Citizens, it is no lie that the German Civilization, Austria and Germany both is under siege. We have been in slavery for far too long, taken away from our culture, our true roots. This Viking, Pagan, ideology that the North professes is not German, it isn't Nordic, it is some cherished part of history that we invoke to give our people strength. But may I ask, what strength is there in the bloody maiming of men and women for profit. The German Civilization has built great churches, composed music that has lasted the ages. We have written books and advanced man's mind. But now we are being told that our independence threatens the autonomy of Europe. Our religion, our culture, our nation.

If relations between our peoples were beginning to worsen during the end of the Hapsburg-Saenger Regime, they can officially end during my government. Austria will not take kindly to idle threats by our German neighbors and if they wish to unite the German Peoples through war, they will not succeed. Austria, is and will be, forever independent.

But this ideology of Pan-Germanism must end. Germanic is not a binding cultural fact anymore, nor has it been for centuries, perhaps for a millennium. Germany must look at itself, Germanic cannot describe the people living under it's banner. Dutch, Danish, Polish, Norwegian, and so on. Austria makes a stand that we are Austrian, that we are not Germanic and never will be Germanic. Europe should be a free continent for all peoples and at this we take a stand to this new regime. Our borders with Germany are closed and immigration halted. One can only hope that reason will be returned to Berlin before it is too late."

Victory and Exodus
The changing fates of Germania

With the conclussion of the Battle of Faroes, the fallen crews of the Coastal Armored Boats, the local Commander, the local Airforce and of course the U-boot crews which had been key in turning back the Irish Tide, have been given a variety of Iron Crosses and, the crew and captain which fired the torpedo which sank the Irish Air Carrier, has been given a Golden Iron Cross, First Class, with Oaks and Leaves.

"These men and women have proven that our will to resist combined with our training is what we need in order to overcome all obstacles. To Odin we thank, that such a conflict did not escalate into all-out war, that the Irish Government realized that there is nothing to be gained, only lost, for both Nations." - General Haas

However, not everything is good news. A number of people from Northeast Germania have decided to migrate to the island of Papua - So far, at least five million in this ongoing process - as they have come to realize that they do not wish to commit to the current war efforts. A much smaller, but significative number of migrants have been Japanese which had ties to that specific region. Some are speaking, as the planes and boats move on and on, that the Dutch and Germans may end up even reclaiming their former colony by sheer force of demographics, if the trend goes on.

Only Getting Started
Germania's Future Uncertain?

A few months had passed since peace had returned to Germania.
The new Althing, at least for the time being, proved to be a success. A letter from Kaiser Martens, currently in Austria, had told them all that he believed that the path chosen, a mix of Meritocracy, Democracy and Monarchy with his family at the helm was what the Northmen needed in this times - to stop shooting one another, to leave fanatic ideologies such as Järnsverd's and Haas' aside, and speak. He also added that the Communist Remanents should not be discriminated against, because Järnsverd is to Communism what Haas was to the whole Nation - a destructive cancer which does not represent anything but powermongering.

Both the Democratic Sector, the Left-wing Sector, the Meritocratic Sector and other groups agreed with this.
The Folk's Thing (Volksding/FolksÞing) was the democratic portion of the government, much like a parliament in other lands.
The High Thing (Hochding/HögÞing) continued to be a council of specialists, chosen meritocratically by their peers.
They both form the Althing proper when they meet to have common sessions.
At the same thing, the Althing Triumvirate continues to exist as before, but one of the Triums is chosen by ellection, the other two by the Althing itself.
The Crown belongs to the Martens Family, but its power is quite limited, and in fact, currently inexistent due to Kaiser Martens being away. The Crown can participate in all Althing Sessions, the Althing can grant it emergency powers, but in itself, it cannot in fact make policies or decisions.

A SelfDef initiative - the fourth strongest political force in the country - lead to a series of plebiscites throughout Germania and the Swedish Protectorate. The result of these plebiscites stated that what had until then been known as Swedish Norway wished to be independent. The Althing instantly recognized this, the zone would be a land of its own soon. The rest of Sweden was accepted into the Union and added several interim (Until next ellections) representatives to the Folk's Thing. Another territory had selected to become independent, and would soon be announce its independence, but at this time the zone's name was classified.

"If some of our Citizens wish to become independent then we have no reason to stop them. But we will protect our new neighbors of course." - Arild Lange, Althing Lord.

Foch-Glassermann, another new Althing Lord, went on to state that reconstruction of all damages caused by Haas and the war was one of the government priorities, and has self-imposed a deadline of two years to achieve this.

Finally, van den Meer stated that, "Yes, FA is very important, but first we must reestablish a functional society, we have houses, hospitals and education institutions to rebuild. In spite of the threatening policies of the Athenians however, the Althing has decided not to focus on the military, which while relevant, would be enhanced last. They would, we fear, use that as an excuse to expand into our territory, and our ultimate priority, the ultimate thing in which we can all agree on, regardless of ideology with the exception of anarchists, is that mantaining our sovereignty is a sacred task. When Economy and Society fall into place, so will Foreign Affairs."

Polls showed that 78% of the people were content with the government, which is much better than the extremely divided results from the past, and the second inconclussive poll that had taken place. It was deemed a "Fair compromise" between what most people seem to want.

---------

Privately, the Chief of General Staff, Field Marshall Gebivson-Mannelig added, "We've got our nuclear arsenal online. We had it ready for a while actually. But we did not want Haas to know. The Ravens know that we'd be all cooked by now if it were up to him. We better not tell the world though. I hope we don't have to use them but we have got to have them."

The Triumvirate Agreed.

Germania's Sunrise was at hand.

"They probably suspect it anyway."

--------------

With the invasion of England, the Althing was in an uproar. The most alarmists were known to say: "First France, then England, and afterwards Germania", a few however actually did support the invasion, that England was falling into anarchy and laid in a state of disrepair either way. However, due to Athens' ongoing expansionism, it was decided that The Union would not afford the luxury of having a weak military.

"The majority of the Althing has decided upon consulting the Specialists that it is needed for us to increase our military budget significatively if we are to stem Athenian aggression. We realize that this will effectively create a cold war, that we wanted other things to be our priority, but we just cannot ignore the Roman Threat. This is a new Wacht am Rhein, if we are seen to be in any way weak they will invade and destroy our country. Although we wish that this were not the case, we cannot deny reality, we are replenishing and restaffing our divisions, we are developing new Military Doctrines and researching on several areas, as our Technology continues to Rise, so that we may fall neither to an Internal nor an External tyrant. We are going to strengthen the dike." - van den Meer

At least however this would reactivate Germanian Industry, so the impact on the economy would not be as negative as one might expect.

Nordland Ruft
Ein Ruf wie Donnerhall

Morale was low in Germanian Government that evening. They had discovered that Mecklenburg-Vorpommern wished to become independent, just as Norway had. The pan-germanic dream seemed to be vanishing...but the Althing knew that it had to respect the wishes of the population. They could not have it any other way. At least, this spelled the end of many who had come to disagree with the current order of things - selfdefs primarily, which, after all, were able to achieve their goal.

At least the swedes seemed for the most part pleased, thanks to the incompetence of previous administrations. What happened to the days of Dierik Martens, when there was one country from Martenshaven to Svalbard, and from Valkurheim to Duinkerken? Germania was surrounded by enemies from almost all directions, or so they thought in pessimism. Germania's place in the sun had been single-handedly shattered by Haas, and the people could only blame themselves for not having been able to stop it.

There was a sense of utter defeat throughout the nation in spite of the fact that for the most part economic assets had not been badly harmed. Germania had never been about economy and money, but about people. People that did no longer wish to be together. The Throne was empty, just as the land seemed to be, and many columns of smoke rose from the north and south as the several millions killed by Haas on both sides were found and dealt with.

"Never say die."

"Soldiers do not surrender. Soldiers die."

"Our sunrise is coming."

"May the ravens guide us..."

These words seemed to be the mottos of the day along the remaining Nordlanders and Germanians. Grim mottos, sometimes outright funerary one might say. But there was something inside of them all, something that compelled them to stand and go on forwards. Dierik Martens was one of the many embodyments of this attitude, having drunk himself nearly to death. As he wandered the streets of Thorn, his face seemed to have sustained some damage, one could not tell if he had been in a fight or had simply fallen. It was a wonder, but he somehow managed to walk on, already feeling the worst headache of his life.

He ended up sitting against a tree on a park, drinking on, having trouble getting his bottle to his mouth. When he finished it, he tossed it out to the street, shattering in the silence of the eastern midnight. "Valkyrie...pick me now..."

He would wake up when the next day was already coming to an end, aching and looking as if he had been in a war zone - unrecognizeable for the most part. Still dizzy, he pushes himself to his feet, leaning onto a tree, and he heads for the river. As he crossed the last street, he stopped for a moment when a Raven nearly crashed into him, forcing him to step back awkardly. A split second later, a large truck sped by, and several people eyed the broken man worriedly.

Realizing that it was not his time yet, he moves forwards again and to the river, sitting against a column by the shore only to find himself painfully throwing up just out of public sight, over a protective wall. Several homeless people remained there around him, looking just as badly as he did, war veterans. What happened to the homelessness of the Germania that was no more? He balled up painfully and waited for the throwing-up reflex to stop triggering itself, even if his stomach was painfully empty already. Then he laid down on the cold stone.

But he did not give up.

He recovered alongside his comrades, who still not having recognized him later offered him some tea. The winter demanded it. He got close to the fire and stared into it, thoughtfully.

"Do you think we can make it?" - Asked Dierik.

The older-looking man, in fact being Dierik's own age replied behind a long beard,

"Our Folk will survive IF we deserve to survive."

"Hm.."

Later, Germania had successfully tested its first Global Strike System. It resembled the unmanned scouting drones, perhaps some insanely good version of the V1. It was built based on the conflict with the chinese, it was able to take off from runways or to be attached to other aircraft and launched in midair, then it would be able to, with its great range, find a target and deliver a lethal - or several smaller, also lethal warheads with great precision. Its advantage over conventional missile systems were several, a special launcher was not required, it did not follow a ballistic trajectory, so it was harder to intercept, for it would try to dodge enemy weaponry, and it could be launched from stealth aircraft. German Engineers had tried to learn some lessons from the old conflict.

In the end, there was a whole family of these devices, one with global range, a smaller one for european-wide deployment, and an even smaller one for scouting purposes. The larger one was big enough that if the engineers had not been cautious, it might have been possibly confused for an ICBM.

They had also been examining a couple of pieces of Chinese armor pieces - this was top secret - they were studying its propierties. Germania had researched nanotechnology before, the high resistance of the material was not surprising, Germanian armor was arguably tougher, but the fact that they had been able to cloak themselves left scientists dumbfounded at first. It took the introduction of new specialists into the crews to begin understanding this new material. Which then...shut down, disabled itself. The chinese had been careful to use safety measures. The material, it had also tried reaching home, the signal would not get through but the Germanians would either way not even realize that such a thing had happened.

It was a mystery. But it began to unravel over time...with the new Technology Investments in Germania, soon enough, after much effort, their first "invisible" suit was created within the bowels of Germania. But adapting this to work with the typical Einherjar-Class Battle Armor would take a long time. Germanian Soldiers would not reap the benefits of this technology for a very long time...

In other laboratories, it was discussed how the lack of an electronic, or cybernetic component had caused the downfall of the Germanian Armies. Planes had been fried in midair presumably by microwaves, the enemy scouting and communication systems had given them great awareness over the battlefield. Field Marshall Gebivson-Mannelig made it clear that such failures could not repeat themselves, and so the electronics of most if not all pieces would be upgraded, and then, doctrines would be changed.

Although a new, Heavy Tank was being developed, the General Staff refrained from boarding Panzer-centric doctrines once more.

"We need better sensors, faster and stronger and SMARTER missiles, we need more control over our troops. We need to SEE."

"We will not win the next war with Panzers and Lead, but with Nanocomputers and Information."

Modernization was at hand.

As another damaged school is restored, and as a hospital finishes remodernization in former Sweden, the Germanians are seen to be working with some sort of energy and fervor as if the clock were against them. The Government had created a six month drive of accelerated construction, the top five teams would receive large bonus, this was to stimulate competitivity. The Einherjar and Valkyrie served as impartial judges so to prevent any cases of nepotism or other kinds of manipulation of data or corruption, and it all seemed to work well so far.

In another front, the tests for the new polling system, to prevent fraud, have been complete. New regulations are also in place to ensure that all parties get the same amount of exposure - this is done strictly to prevent the Democratic Thing from becoming a Money-Driven Thing as is the case in most democratic systems.

But not everything is pink and giggly in Germania.

In Mariehamm, a new type of gun is being created, using Nordlandische Waffenwerke and Kettenheim Inc. specialists. As it was seen that the Chinese had deployed a heavy tank of which few information is known, and that this tank was able to withstand the standard issue 140mm ETC guns of the Germanian MBT, it was decided that a thinner, but longer 120 or 125mm gun would be created, a gun that while not losing much mass should be able to fire its sabots at a higher velocity. This gun is meant to be attached to the Perkunos Tank Destroyer, however, it is unknown whether if it will be compatible with the Leopard hull and turret.

Practicing in Prussia
New Techs and Doctrines on the Field

The Reichswehr was mobilized around the area of Prussia's coast in an exercise that lasted over twentyfour hours, the largest military exercise in recent Germanian history. A great deal of the information was classified, however, it was clear that new gear was sent to action. There was a heavy tank never seen before, and several Perkunos Tank Destroyers seemed to have been outfitted with a new cannon. Most importantly, the arrangement of the divisions seems to have changed drastically, and a series of unmanned vehicles were roaming the fields.

The Althing announced later that the new movements had been mostly successful, and that the divisions were now returning to their normal posts. The latest economy figures have been published, growth was 0.43% greater than expected and the addition of Sweden had a positive impact on reconstruction efforts.

"We will use these unexpected gains to invest in our own economy and technology, while mantaining separately the growth of our warchest as predicted. We will be ready, come what may, and will not neglect any of our land's priorities." - Foch-Glassermann

Finished Reconstruction
"Only the beginning."

It was recently announced by the Folks' Thing that within the next month, reconstruction of all Haas-associated damages would finally be complete. "We have gone a long way restoring our Fatherland but we are only getting started. We still have much to do as far as military and FA is concerned, and noone should assume that merely reconstruction is our goal, for this is the turning point. We will improve in every sense and continue to do our best. It will continue to be investing time for a very long time." - van den Meer.

In fact, if the latest wonder for agricultural optimization is taken into consideration, already a tangible improvement is seen, for many new workplaces have been created.

--------------

Secretly, research upon new airframes as well as new systems was well underway. Some type of "personal radar" was being rumored to be included along with the new generation of Einherjar Class Armor, and tests showed that adding many redundant sensors on the aircraft seemed to make jamming more difficult, at the expense of a higher price tag. In the past, Germania accumulated guns and explosives, now smaller devices used for scouting and scanning - for information warfare - were to be stockpiled instead, alongside with the new generation of missiles.

"They used to be able to fry our components. I saw them. We are trying to figure out how to do the same. Being the second best is never good enough. But we are not even that." - Field Marshall Tambarskjelve complained privately.

"But at least we are on the right track."

The Althing has recently passed a vote on the reactivation of the Dalmatian MDP, which had been disabled during a period of unstability in both Dalmatia and Germania. At the same time, the Reserves have been mobilized for the ongoing conflict, and the economy has shifted to War Mode, meaning that industrial output of war-related goods and machines of all kinds have been greatly accelerated, while millions of Germanians with partial or complete military training get ready to defend the country against the English Foes.

"This war is only going to end when England sinks or when Germania sinks." - Althing Lady van den Meer

Shortly thereafter, an official request for the activation of the MDP in the ongoing war was forwarded to the Dalmatian Capital City.

Saxon Stabilization
And Norwiegan Unification

Recently a referendum in Germanian Norway had been passed in which the people voted by 65% to join Norway. The Folksthing passed a motion to promote Norwiegan Unification shortly thereafter, with the exception of the Austrohungarian base of Aalesund. Lange commented, "Norway has proven to be a stable nation with a government that also knew how to bravely commit to a fight, for that I think that delaying its unification would be a shame - a shame on us. They deserve it and Oslo's leadership is up to the task."

As the English War ended, the Reichswehr paraded on Amsterdam, Stockholm and Berlin upon returning, while the English Protectorate Army instead paraded through a mostly-untouched London. Field Marshall Gebivson-Mannelig has been granted a Silver Iron Cross, First Class with Oaks and Leaves for his accomplishments, in spite of the fact that much of the rest of the staff was not able to adapt to the new fighting methods and put Germania at the brink of a total catastrophe. Foch-Glassermann commented, "In spite of having won, our victory brings shame to us in that it was simply too clumsy. Our new material proved good, but our leadership was below standard." Economy returned to normal, but the launched missiles would be replaced by even more missiles than before, in preparation for further problems in the powderkeg continent.

Van den Meer at London met Lord Protector D. P. Gumby, whom will be in charge of England for at least the next four months during the main reconstruction period - then, ellections will be held so as to allow the people to determine their own fate. This will match the Germanian Ellections. England is now the land of opportunities for the Germanians, which have moved to invest in the devastated country. New factories are expected to start sprouting all over England in the coming year, and while the bulk of the capital will be Germanian, the bulk of the workers will be the English themselves. In the meantime, humanitarian aid is being sent to prevent starvation. Van den meer spoke, "We will rebuild England to its former glory and then improve on it. In five days, school will resume normally, and most hospitals are back online."

The surrendered English soldiers taken as POWs will be employed by Germanian Government in order to reconstruct their own country, starting with housing and power plants, then moving onto railroads and roads, while the English weaponry country-wide was seized and is being taken to Germania for stockpiling - excepting for Nuclear Weaponry, which is being safely dismantled.

Dürer's Rhinoceros, the Mechanical Galleon and the Lothair Crystal - English treasures of Germanian Origin - were returned to be exhibited in Amsterdam, Hamburg and Göteborg respectively, which were the main starting points of the invasion.

News from England
Mixed Feelings

As the situation in England continued to be stable, compared to the actions of the other Isles' States, it was decided to push on with new measures. Many companies received incentives to move to England, where a huge unemployment rate caused by the war makes the situation...exploitable. Kettenheim Inc, Thyssen-Krupp, Shell, Maersk, Volvo-Saab and Henkel are some of the big names that are currently creating compounds.

"We estimate that with Germanian Aid, within a year these new groups will be operable to revive the deadbeat English economy. At the same time, their Armed Forces combined with our Home Guard are securing our borders in the face of an unstable neighbor. We have to survive this year the best we can before we are able to see any improvements." - Lord Protector Gumby

Ten members of the English Government and High General Staff have been exiled from England, on the grounds that they had to do with sparking the war.

English Society continues to be largely divided, while many are against the Germanian Occupation, others simply know that they would be far worse off if it were not for their assistance. There were some incidents in which Germanian Troops were attacked, and some incidents in which a Church in West England ended up burned down in such a confrontation. Yet at the same time, those wounded were dealt with in Germanian-Built hospitals by Germanian Doctors, for a supreme taste of irony. As several Germanic Pagan Temples rise, those who happen to be Loyal to the Aesir have been known to be supportive of the Germanians.

"We are trying to make an equivalent of our own Economic Miracle through a generous aid plan to England. If we are successful, the land will stabilize. If not, it will continue to be a hotbed of trouble. It is our task to save our Land." - Gumby added
To: Germanisk Forbund

Greetings,

Due to the paucity of diplomatic relations between our nations and mutual inability to honor the terms of the treaty owing to geographical disparities, the Kingdom of Cochin hereby announces its intent to cancel the Optional Defense Pact which had been considered to be in existence between Kingdom of Cochin and Germanisk Forbund. Please consider this message to be the formal Cancellation notice.

There was a time when the Kingdom had answered the call to defend the Germanisk Forbund. There was a time when the Kingdom had crossed a continent to help its ally in a time of need. There was a time when the Kingdom sacrificed the lives of its soldiers to defend an ally. It seems however time has laid its ravages upon even hallowed memories as such and perhaps alliances are considered to be trivial.

Yours,

HH Kerala Varma,
The King of Cochin
New Anglosaxon Institutions
Of Health and Education

On this month, two new institutions to help England recover were created.
The first is King Alarik's Hospital, in Eastern England in the zone protected by Kurlandic Teams. This hospital, created jointly by Kurland and Germania, specializes in Heart Surgery and Transplants as well as both education and research in cardiovascular medicine and disease. In London, a relatively small city due to the Nuclear Strikes of the past, the Anglosaxon University was created to fill the gap of several large institutions which had been outright wiped out. The university will focus primarily on Nanotechnology and all that which is related to this key item in the modern world, but also has a Linguistics and History department. The complex is for the time being only built to 70% of its capacity, which is for now enough to start functioning. The rest will be completed in two more years.

It seems to be an age of stability and hope in England, where Houses, Factories and other Institutions seem to raise from the very ground as if growing out of seeds. Lange announced that, with the ongoing improvement of England, the time for them to be able to once more control their political destiny was close. Lord Protector Gumby also passed in the Parliament a resolution by which the wages of high-ranking officials, such as himself, are drastically reduced.

"Today's England cannot afford the luxury of having its ruling class be rich while many struggle to rebuild their lives. We will not be privileged, our wages will now be approximately the same as those of any other qualified professionals, and, the millions which we gain by enacting this policy, will be redirected to families which were severed by the war."

This measure was supported by the society at large, but several of the Parliament Members quit in an outrage. One of these, a particularily wealthy and obviously corrupt banker was later lynched by a mob, and his assets seized by the state, which are to be used for furthering the fledging English Agriculture. Mr Gumby stated that justice had been served.

A Series of English Plebiscites
Surprising Outcomes

After almost two years of reconstruction, disarmment and stabilization of England, the time has finally come for Germania to start taking a step aside and granting the English the power to choose their own fate. Already steps have been taken by recruiting parts of the former English Army to mantain order and protect their own land if needed be, an action which some in Berlin have regarded as reckless. But with the economy on the right track, it seems to have been a good idea.

"We are slowly removing our own institutions as we restore English institutions instead, much like one would remain a building's wooden frame when the metal and concrete are ready. England must learn to stand on its own two feet, and it is our responsability to ensure that this happens. Our large public and private investments, which were almost cancelled and blocked by the Folksthing repeatedly, are starting to pay off." - Foch-Glassermann

To this means, in the last month, several plebiscited were enacted throughout all of England - mandatory plebiscites, in fact. They were two distinctive plebiscites, one more akin to a poll to try to determine the general attitude and desires of the people, and then a different plebiscite to decide whether if they wanted to join the UK or not - or if they wanted something else.

The results showed a marked East-West division in England. The West of England consistently wished for independence, as a region, while not as "England", and seemed to be largely influenced by Celtic Culture. The East of England wished for independence as well, but had some kind of Germanophile and Scandinavist tendency, and wish to either be an independent nation altogether or to continue to be a protectorate of Germanic Union. It is noteworthy that no poll included any option that may hint towards joining the Germanian Nation, as it is believed by the Triumvirates and Althing that simply expanding and trampling English identity would be completely undesireable. As a result, no annexations will take place.

Eastern England, or, England Proper as it has been called as of lately will continue to be a Protectorate until the day it can stand strong by itself, while Western England is expected to make a Declaration of Existence under a name not yet defined within the next hours.

Lange stated that, while he would have preferred to aim for a kind of solution involving unity, that ultimately, the people have shown what they wanted in the polls, and that as the line between Protector and Tyrant is so thin, the Germanian Administration was compelled to do what the People want.

Van den Meer stated that the new nation would also be protected - which is why Germanian Army Units are still there until it can form its own Army - although it is not a protectorate proper, but a sovereign nation instead.

A New Link

Earlier today, the Althing announced that due to the quick recovery and growth of the economy, it has become possible to further invest in Germanian Infrastructure. Traditionally, Hamburg has acted as a bottleneck when serving as a connection to Slesvig and the north, but now, a tunnel from Fehmarn to Lolland is being created so as to make things more efficient. The tunnel will, in fact, be twofold, for one section will be for regular traffic while the "second" adjacent tunnel will be integrated into the complex railroad system of the fatherland.

"This project, while expensive, will make inner commerce and travel easier and faster, and will improve the standards of living for those caught in the Hamburg Bottleneck Area. We should have done this years ago, but both warfare and a falling economy were more pressing issues." - van den Meer
