State of the Alliance

This week has seen the Siberian Tiger Alliance’s membership numbers increase for the first time since the recruitment freeze was put into place towards the end of last year. Membership numbers now sit at 167. Average nation strength remains at just under 30000 while our total nation strength has passed 4.9 million.

In domestic news, the Cadet program has seen its first batch of graduates join the alliance. Over the past few days five new members graduated from the Academy and all reports from the cadets and the staff involved with the Academy are that it is a valuable program and one that is running well.

This week saw the promotion of Kaleb Rockefeller to the Siberian Guard to replace Coloradia who departed the alliance a couple of weeks ago. Kaleb has been assisting the alliance by working as a guide to the Cadets in the Academy and also assisting with the running of the White Trade Central headquarters. On behalf of the alliance I congratulate Kaleb on his promotion and wish him success in his new role.

Tiger of the Month and Tiger of the Year awards were also presented this week. The Tiger of the Month award for December was presented to Regolith. Regolith has assisted in the Bank of Siberia by taking over the management of the tech dealing department. This is quite a job and it is pleasing to see a relatively new member of the alliance stepping up and taking on important roles in the alliance. Regolith thoroughly deserves the award and I congratulate him on his achievement.

The Tiger of the Year award for 2009 was presented to Jyrinx. Jyrinx won the Tiger of the Month award three times last year and has been an active and dedicated member of the alliance since the moment he walked through the door. He has helped out in the Siberian Guard and now in the Consilium Tigris and his energy and willingness to help out as much as possible meant he stood out as a clear winner of the Tiger of the Year award. On behalf of the STA, I thank you, Jyrinx, for your efforts over the past year. Alliances need people like you to function and we are lucky to have you in the STA.

In the Siberian Trophy, league leaders Bamburgh FC slumped to a home defeat against Proxian FC to give the inside run for the title to Batch. Bamburgh has only a one point lead over Batch but with Batch having a game in hand the title is Batch’s to lose. Condatis Town FC remains in third place, seven points adrift of Batch with FC Tigris Altaica a game further back in fourth. At the bottom of the table Rebel United and Team Waycool look almost certain to be relegated to the Cup Division. Rebel United squandered a 1-0 half time lead to draw away at Togashire while bottom side Team Waycool had the bye this week.

The Cup Division finished up this week with Mushroom Kommune and FC Lviv battling it out for top spot in the final game of the season. Mushroom Kommune made a mockery of the close battle these two sides had all season recording a 5-0 win and taking the Cup Division title. Lviv had already secured promotion and they finished up a game clear of third-places FC Pinky. In the relegation battle Capo Salmon’s 5-2 win over Blitzas11 Angry Men saw them leapfrog Lombardia FC and Archers and escape the drop. Archers’ 2-0 loss to Mercers was enough to book them a ticket to the Plate Division next season.

This week also saw the final round of matches in the Plate Division. Runaway leader Striking Tigers FC recorded a solid 5-0 win over FC Crazamb to complete a near flawless season. The real battle was for the second promotion place between Eagles and Kelton. Both sides recording wins this week which allowed Eagles to maintain their one point break over Kelton and earn them promotion to the Cup Division. At the foot of the table FC CaVala recorded a win away at Poyplonia to move up two places meaning Wolverines slumped to last place a point clear of second-from-last FC Crazamb.

In the Twinkie Cup the quarter finals were completed this week with favourites Batch demolishing Condatis Town FC 7-0 on aggregate over the two legs and booking themselves a semi-final clash with FC Tigris Altaica who eased past Mushroom Kommune with a 5-1 aggregate win. The other semi-final will be between FC Polar Samurai who recorded an emphatic 6-0 aggregate win over Plate Division side FC CaVala and the Rabbs who scraped past Plate title winners Striking Tigers FC.

After the activity of the previous few weeks the Foreign Affairs department had a well earned rest this week with no news to report. As always the FA department will maintain close communications with our allies. The only real activity was the January Q&A session which, despite the recent upheavals, was surprisingly benign.

Militarily this week was one in which calm was restored following the recent build of over the Athens/Ragnarok vs TPF issues. The Siberian Tiger Alliance was pleased to see the issue resolved to the satisfaction of the parties involved.

Overall, this week has seen the academy system begin to bear fruit for the alliance with a number of quality recruits joining the alliance and another group very close to graduation. The alliance continues to grow steadily and we once again near the elusive 5 million nation strength milestone. We also celebrated the achievements of members of the alliance through monthly and annual awards as well as promotions for members who have shown dedication and promise. We look forward to continued growth over the coming weeks.

Za Sibir’!
