Insight behind your character?

I always try and post things I can defend, but the main motives are either needing to say some !@#$, or needing to make a joke that isn't being made. If I see a 50-page topic where everyone's blathering on about something with just totally wrong information - and I know the !@#$ is wrong - or they're twisting it really motivates me to post. That's probably the most compulsive one for me. I just can't stand when everyone's debating a situation, and they've all read it wrong. !@#$ drives me bananas.

My IC and OOC are essentially the same thing. However, like many people, I think that my first grand experiences in this game effect how I interact with it now. Having been in NoV for the earliest parts of my IC life I quickly picked up this "me against the world" attitude and became accustomed to having my back against the wall. Being shunned at all foreign affair endeavors made me really appreciate what chances I've had down the line and being hated for something as simple as being a member of NoV made me really appreciate when people offered the hand of friendship down the road. Basically, my IC self is a more intense, more world appropriate version of my OOC self.

I think I posted once that I RP as a bored college student. That's fairly accurate.

I usualy try to make a good first impression when I meet people IRL and I generally do the same in CN unless someone has a clear track record of being a jerk in which case I'll be a bit more guarded. I generally give the benefit of the doubt though.

I'm sarcastic, optimistic, cynical, and I always look for the humorous side of things. Same in game, same IRL.

As much as acting can be fun, and I'm told I'm good at it, in Cybernations I'm fairly close to my actual self. This is a product of what I take out of the game though...if I play for the friendships and relationships I've formed, then I'd want those as a person and not as a character.

I've often considered roleplaying a character, and I suppose I do somewhat- I'm quite happy to sit back and criticise idiocy from my armchair, preferably with popcorn to hand. Therefore, I'm somewhat an aggressive character and I tend to be fairly blunt when people do things that reek of stupidity. I quite enjoy it and I think characters like mine are the driving force of Cyber Nations politics, at least at the moment. I'm completely unafraid to say what I think. If everyone was nice to each other this game would be boring, and that's exactly how I see it- a game. See my signature for a summation of this element of my character.

Nevertheless, I am a Freemason in real life. Freemasons are consistent about what we believe, because our beliefs are part of who we are. It's quite 24/7 for me, so game or not, my beliefs translate into how I react. Unlike socialism or libertarianism, Freemasonry is no ideology. It's a moral credo. Take your rites and you'll know what I mean.

i don't really role play or have set persona for my character but i do act differently when online then in RL. Most of this has to do with the company i keep in both places though as the jokes and such i have for one don't translate to the other. Plus its easy to be brave behind a mask of mystery.

If i had to say what type of persona i would set for my person it would be a good natured but devious upstart politician who is still working his way to the top.

I have to agree with this, my persona has been consistant throughout my entire CN experience, People who are political chameleons are in my opinion untrustworthy.

In my days in the GPA I was against tech raiding and pro-diplomacy.

I then moved to the NPO due to their stand on tech raiding so I could assist in protecting red from raiders more effectively, I also worked behind the scenes there as a diplomat and advocated diplomatic solutions when asked.

Now in polaris my opinion is unchanged, I still oppose raiding albeit politically due to the lack of suitable targets in my strength range, I continue my role here as diplomat and I still advocate peaceful resolution of conflicts wherever possible.

There has only been minor gradual change in my persona, based on experience. Since if you do not learn from experience you are doomed to repeat mistakes. But the essence of my persona is essentially the same as what it was three years ago.

"I'm blunt, honest and I don't care what you think" or "I do what I do. Deal with it"

That's what half of the people posting in this thread have said. Trying to be original and individual doesn't work if everyone is doing the same thing as you. I'm going to be original. Watch this:

I deviate from the point, I lie a lot and I am very self conscious.

There we go. Now I'm cool because I'm different.

No one is trying to be cool, they're just shedding some insight behind the character they're trying to play.

I think you've missed the point here, entirely.

I bust gonads here FAR more often than I do IRL. It's fun, particularly when I'm dealing with someone who can't help but come off as an arrogant jackass. Want to talk down to me? Wrong. I root for the little guy more often than people think. I'm here to have fun and at least try to be competitive. I'm much quicker to anger here, and more ruthless than in RL. I have a dry sense of humor but also laugh at the lulz...even as I'm lecturing someone to cut the lulz. I know what Rule 34 is. I insist that women be treated with respect while playing the game. I try to be Dirty Harry and sometimes manage to achieve what Clint Eastwood brings to that role. I struggle with time management particularly where this game is concerned. I worry about this game and wonder why good ideas for improving it go by without any visible consideration while ideas destined to go no where get posted in the Suggestion Box and booted around by players like an old soccer ball for several pages and go no where. I'm too smart for my own good, too impatient at times, and prone to take action and take charge when I sense a clusterfark in progress. I hate politics in game but love diplomacy. I quietly pray Cyber Nations Beta 2.2 will be better than 2.1. There's more, but I talk too much and make too many OOC analogies. ;)

I'm...well, I'm not always consistent. I have three characters that come to play, one being myself. I just can't decide which I like best. :P I'm fairly laid back and easy going, Locke is a bit more stuck-up, arrogant, and condescending, and then Azu...well, Azu's basically the personification of moe. :> All three of us have come into play in various parts of CN, though Locke most of all.

I'd say I'm a madified version of myself. More guttersnipping and more excitable here than in RL. I guess I like to use the character as a way to endulge parts of my RL personality that I don't get to use often otherwise. I keep the snipes to a minimum and I'm reasonably laid back in comparison.

The part I most enjoy - I think - is that in RL I can oftentimes be extremely firm and inflexible in what I see as right and wrong. I might even be a moralist in RL, but here I get to leave any and all morals at the door. It's almost a freeing feeling being able to do that. I like not having morals here so much that in actually makes me dislike moralism here. As if part of me fears moralism is going to take away my sanctuary from morals or something like that.

My character was made out of necessity.

Most of my in game decisions and view points mirror my real life leanings.

I tell the truth in just about every situation, though everything i say is in the context of a very funny lie.

edit: multiple points. multiple.
