Minister of Interior Jack Wally is quoted as saying that "This project will be extremely beneficial to our nation as it will increase jobs and leave our nation with a better, more durable infrastructure system. The Ministry of Defense announced that they'd be acquiring more B-52s and F-15s over the next year to "increase the air security of our nation." Prime Minister Roger Smith was quoted as saying that "CAN will be good for Blue Heaven as we it can help us advance the economy and also calls for mutual defense of member nations, so we also have protection from foreign powers." The 3rd Division of the NG will join in the training exercises tomorrow. Also the air force has just finished building 200 CH-47D Chinooks, 100 C-5 Galaxies, and 100 Apaches, now 3,000 of the airforce's 5,000 personnel are either pilots, engineers, or logisticians. A total of 200 people have responded and here are the results so far: 53% favor going to war with Damacious, 33% opposed involvment, and 14% were neutral about the issue. In the economy today, an oil company known as Crude Inc. has begun surveying publicly accessible oil fields and announced that they plan to begin pumping late this month or early next year. Of the 200 million barrels Blue Heaven has, 25 million have been reserved by the government for emergency use for the military. Metal 'N' Steel Inc. announced that it plans to hire at least 50,000 more workers in anticipation of the government's massive infrastrucure project. The government plans to build a total of 10 national highways, redo all major highways and parkways, redo all roads in major cities, expand the sewage system, and also add 5 major highways. In politics, a law is currently being proposed that would allow same-sex marriage. The Traditionalist Party has attacked this bill as being "an affront to traditional marriage, people's religous beliefs, and the morality of Blue Heaven itself." Parliament speaker for the Progressive Party, David Reed, countered by citing that gays are allowed to serve openly in the military and that "we need to extend that to the civilian sector as well." The Stryker has a total of 5 crew and room for fifteen soldiers. OOC: I know that IRL the Stryker only has a crew of 3, but please bear with me as this is the only way that the numbers come out evenly. kitex Posted December 13, 2009 Author Report Share Posted December 13, 2009 (edited) Public Today, the Ministry of Defense released the names of the 50 people, 30 men and 20 women from 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Platoons of Bravo Company, 1st Combat Brigade, 1st Infantry Division that were killed in the fighting in Damacious. Minister of Defense Colin Powell released a statement saying that of the men and women killed that "their deaths were not in vain, coalition forces were victorious. They died first for the protection of Blue Heaven from very possible aggression from Damacious and second, for the freedom of others so that they may live in peace and harmony, not just in Scotland, but for the entire North American continent." Minister of Defense Colin Powell praised the new aircraft for their greater lethality, better protection, and faster speed. The fundraisers of the clinic, the Gay Liberation Front, announced that they "were pleased that so many people had contributed to the building of this great clinic." In politics, the gay marriage act was passed in the Lower House of Parliament. Traditionalists have threatened to use all their political influence and might to make sure that this bill doesn't pass in the Upper House. Prime Minister Smith has yet to issue a statement on the bill. Private Parliament has approved the defense budget for FY2010. They will be there for the three weeks learning how to fight and survive in the mountains. A picture can be found here. In other news, a mass of gay weddings and a gay parade were held today as the Gay Marriage Act was signed into law by Prime Minister Roger Smith. He praised today as "a day where many will be able to stay that they stood on the side of tolerance and justice." The Traditionalist Party had this statement to say "We are shocked and mortified by the massive change in Prime Minister Smith and hope that he comes to rethink this decision in the next couple of weeks." The MoF calmed people's fears by saying that the inflation was caused by Blue Heaven's growing economy. Also construction on two of the nation's four new highways has began. On our upper islands, the 1st Mech and 2nd Mech and several NG divisions are moving toward all borders. kitex Posted December 21, 2009 Author Report Share Posted December 21, 2009 Public Today the Ministry of Finance reported that unemployment fell from 4 to 2% due to the nation's massive infrastructure project. They report that it'll stay this way for the forseeable future as the jobs that are being created due to this project will, for the most part, stay. Also the education system has been changed slightly, putting more emphasis on math and foreign languages, as so that Blue Heaven would be able to compete better in the global economy. Private The 2nd Batt., 3rd Combat Brigade, 4th NG has returned from what was the UC/Isle de Malvinas. Residents there got 5-14 inches of snow. Some towns have declared a snow emergency. The government is currently sending over trucks with massive forklifts attached to them to clean up the snow and also vehicles that dispense rock salt.
