Michael McBride
Back on track... realized the biggest thing I need to improve is my defense... midfield looks sick... may look to add another forward at some point as well. V The King
Wow. In my game against the Adepts, I had 8 chances and only got the ball in in two of them. Adepts had three chances and capitalized on them all, even though their goalie played like a 3. Wow. >_<

Kevinho
And now a historic first victory for Keville over ALDM. Would have kept a clean sheet had the ref not added 6 mins. Could be my most valuable 3pts all season.
V The King
Can't believe I lost at home against SiPS. But then again, I guess playing long balls with a weak midfield vs a strong midfield playing with pressure is a recipe for disaster.
Botha
I guess playing long balls with a weak midfield vs a strong midfield playing with pressure is a recipe for disaster. Not necessarally. After all, long balls eliminates your midfield, so the fact your midfield is weak doesn't factor. I think the 4-2-4 formation (vs pressure) is what killed you as you would likely be outnumbered going back on the defensive. 4-2-4 is the failboat of soccer formations. Botha
I'm really surprised I'm still ranked so high (and increased +1) considering we lost our only match this season, an upset by Swamplandia. But hey what do I know!

I wanted to play 5-2-3 but the form of one of my defenders was !@#$ - and the other one is a 3 bar dude. =/ Had to take the risk, but oh well. I know better now. Botha
I wanted to play 5-2-3 but the form of one of my defenders was !@#$ - and the other one is a 3 bar dude. Playing 16-year-old 3-bar dude would have been the better move, cause at least you would have got him a ton of experience in the process. Even if you still lost, you still had something to show from the match.
Voobaha
I'm really surprised I'm still ranked so high (and increased +1) considering we lost our only match this season, an upset by Swamplandia. But hey what do I know! Botha.. i'm not a statystical analyst, I just do this for fun... but I DO see a few things so far... 1) Weighted seedings to start. Teams were weighted based on last years finish, with Top Primera teams given the highest points ratings.. with the lowest in Tercera receiveing the lowerst intitial points. The new teams were treated as true new teams, and given a median rating. Teams that were good last year, were considered to likely be pretty good again THIS season. 2) Cup Play. Cup games are weighted slightly higher as it shows the ability to play outside your Serie. For Transvaal, the 4-0 2nd leg win over Compostela Artois overshadowed the in Serie loss to Swamplandia (which was also considered in the previous ELO) 3) When you win, win big. It may go against some philosophies, but it's encouraged to roll up the goals. Goal difference is a modifier in each game. 4) Promotion/Relegation. Since teams were ranked on LAST season's finish, it may have assigned over inflated rankings to teams that were demoted from their series, and under estimated those on the way UP the promotion ladder. 5) Its NEW. We're a small group, with only a small number of games played. Since we have such a small sample base to work with (only 4 -7 games for most nations), we'll get HUGE swings each week, especially with upset-minded Cup teams. It usuallly takes about 30 matches to get reliable results.
Botha
No criticism intended. I was just curious / amused to see my team rated much higher than I would have given it credit for.
Michael McBride
Yeah... no offense, I'm not putting ANYTHING of stock into these rankings. Like there's no way Texas is a middle of the pack team and the Reds are second to last when the Reds crushed them 5-2 to start the season. Voobaha
Yeah... no offense, I'm not putting ANYTHING of stock into these rankings. Like there's no way Texas is a middle of the pack team and the Reds are second to last when the Reds crushed them 5-2 to start the season. None taken. Pravus, you're abolutely right. At this point, the ranking are VERY iffy. Give it time, and all will settle into proper places. Any new ELO will have more mood swings then my ex when she was off her meds. As for Texas success: they put up a 4 goal win over a Primera team in a cup game (big upset = big boost in rankings) right before they played you. That made your win even stronger, but you getting bounced in Cup play by Nordheim didn't help ... knowing your Reds, you'll bounce back and start getting hot in league.
