The Hanseatic Commonwealth

The Hanseatic Commonwealth is of new blood. It bleeds the spirit of the last with new life. Let this day be marked as a new era of peace is rung in. We hold it as a responsibility to exchange an ODP to the new Commonwealth to make sure it stays safe and that we might be able to start up a new relation.

Peace be with you,

Queen Ava Jones of Acca Dacca.

Dear General Asgeirsson,

Zargathia is relieved to hear of the return of the Hanseatic Commonwealth, and welcomes you into the world with the same warmth and friendship as you once welcomed us during the creation of our state.

Having said that, we wish to inquire if the old treaties that bound our nations together can be considered reactivated with the Commonwealth's resurrection. For this purpose, we would like to arrange a meeting between Queen Amyante and yourself at the first convenient opportunity to discuss these matters.

We shall be looking forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

(scribble)

Queen Amyante Tojimaru

Zargathia

P.S.

Would the Lady Protector be with you, by any chance? It's been a while since we've heard of her...

**Response**

Excellency,

I thank you for your words of welcome on the return of the country. Zargathia had a special place in Lady Tintagyl's heart and I am sure that it will have an equal place in my own. As to your treaties, think of them as still applying, through I am not quite sure of the treaties we held with your state, funny for I spent a great deal of time in Zargathia before you gained your independence. In fact, I believe if you check the war memorial on the fields of Western Manchuria, my name should be somewhere inscribed on it. Happier times no doubt. As to a meeting, I would be happy to meet with you in the future. At the moment, we are in a bit of a struggle to wrest control of our country from various factions. Queensland and Dranagg come to mind, therefore we are still an up and coming state, even our capital is only temporary, though hopefully that will end soon as well.

As to the Lady Protector, no she is not with me, though according to Transvaaler news, she has become governor of the Cocos Islands in the Indian Ocean and I am sure she would be happy to speak with you if you so desire.

Sincerely,

Hannah Asgeirsson,

Potentate of the Commonwealth

It is good to see my first ally back as a nation. You had fallen in Finland and rose again in Australia, and I knew you would be able to do it again. Welcome back.

**Response**

Indeed it is Bertrake, I have tried to forget Europe though it appears that the Hansa does still have friends in Mother Europa, no matter how much of an $@! she is. I have heard of your recent campaign in the Crimea and I wish you luck, perhaps after the turmoil in Australia ends. We can help each other out again.

General,

It is with great joy that Taeunas as a whole, and myself personally, welcomes back the legacy of Lady Tintagyl. The world has gone far too long without it's most beloved of nations.

We know you are well aware of the recent events in Brisbane, and hopefully you will be able to pacify the region. Toward that end, Taeunas forces stand ready to help you now, as we once did in Helsinki.

Regards and well wishes,

Christos DeSchaine

**Response**

Excellency,

I thank you for your words and more so your actions to defend the Commonwealth in its absence. Countries have lined up to offer their services to us and our people are filled with strength once again to rise to a world power once again. You can be assured that if the Hansa requires help, you will be one of the first that we call. Taeunas has always been there for us and we will always be there for Taeunas.

Sincerely,

Hannah Asgeirsson,

Potentate of the Commonwealth

We here in Molakia feel it is only right that we say a few things in private.

1: We seriously find it rather odd that a Military Leader is in charge of Hansa, when its former leader was a peaceful person. We hope that you use your military experience for organizational purposes.

2: Molakia will decline to request an embassy in your lands at this time, however we are interested in opening Consuls so that people of our nations will have somewhere to report to should they visit.

3: The Molakian People recognize only Sarah Tintagyl as the Leader of Hansa, so expect rather rude comments and gestures from the people and our expatriots.

4: The Goverment of Molakia recognizes your goverment as the legal successor to the Old Hansa, but we cannot continue the same offers (Defensive Pact, etc) that we had with the old one. Molakian law requires us to re-negotiate any deals.

Kintober watched the speech unfold and chuckled. "Well Hannah, nice to see your quite the busy body. Glad everything's working out for you so far." He muttered. "Now-" He said, turning his attention back to the lab equipment in front of him. "-lets see if there's something in these tissue samples of yours that explains why you took to the augmentation process like a duck to water, Ms Asgeirsson. Aside from sheer willpower and determination, anyway." He said, holding up a vial of Hannah's blood.

Excellency,

I am happy that you came to us to talk about it, because in all honestly, you beat us to the punch. The traditional Hanseatic territories of Marchen (French Polynesia) lay beyond the protection of The Citadel and as in the past with Aotearoa we maintained various trading treaties, free passage, and mutual defense pacts. As I'm sure we have a friendship to grow on, the defense pacts may be out of the question at the moment. However, I would be interested in meeting to discuss these deals. At the moment, Eastern Australia is locked in conflict between various factions centered around Brisbane. This should not interfere with politics at the moment and if you need to talk to either a diplomat or myself. A meeting can be arranged. Thank you again for your welcoming.

Excellency,

You are right, I am a military leader. The Hanseatic people have too long suffered from the attacks of foreign nations and invaders on our soul and against our citizens, I am here to deliver them from this horrid destiny that has seemed to grip them as of late. For a nation that is so threatened by everything that goes on in this world I would have thought you would imagine the benefits to a military leader. Our nation is young, we are going up and realizing just how dangerous and cruel this world is. Sarah was peaceful and I will be peaceful, but nations should know, if you attack me, you will be destroyed.

As to you know recognizing me as a leader I can therefore only hold disdain for you and your people Tsarina. Apparently you dwell in the past and cannot move on with the future, which is a pity. However, from this point on, your governments addresses to my nation will be ignored until something of an apology to your rudeness is met. You were once our friends, but apparently even you have abandoned us because your White Queen is not here to hold your hand. Just another reason why Europe constantly reminds me that nothing, and I repeat nothing good seems to come from that continent. Crimea and Austria may be an exception, but you surely are not.

As to deals, when you apologize and come to your senses about world politics, maybe we'll talk.

Dear Emperor Kintobor,

I was anxiously awaiting your letter. Things are going extraordinarily well, though besides the war. I find my country divided and while the Hansa does control the majority of the World Protectorate, invaders from Dranagg have made this entire rise to power much more difficult. However, they will be destroyed along with the Queenslanders and the Hansa will be restored. I hope that after this is done that you will be able to visit Brisbane and humor me once again. Of course, as to your proposals of interaction, I humbly accept.

Regards,

Hannah

Well, Varangia is pretty much taken over, although the battle still rages in in Valkurheim, as neither us nor the Varangian remnant army wants to harm the city. On the upside, it has dulled down from a dual-army conflict to an insurgency, so there we have the upper hand. Perhaps we can arrange a meeting somewhere, half of the Crimean urbanization project is complete, and we have our capital, Kvasirsheim, in the center of the peninsula and ready for foreign visitors.

The Queensland Republic surrenders to the Hanseatic Commonwealth on the following conditions:

1. The Commonwealth shall help rid the Republic of foreign invaders.

2. The Republic be allowed to move to a new land before handing over its original territories.

"General Asgeirsson?"

The General looked up from her silent stare down at the map of Eastern Australia. "Yes Sagittel?"

"General we just received word from the Queensland Republic, they've surrendered to us. With the following conditions." Sagittel walked over handing Hannah the surrender papers. She studied them for a moment and threw them on the table. "Are we accepting?"

"Yes, its much easier this way. Think of it like this, everyone wins here. Well except the Dranaggians." She said with a chuckle. "Make an announcement to all parties in the region, that the Queensland Republic is now protected by the Hansa a move against them will be considered an act of war against us. In addition, I want to enter diplomatic channels with our allies. I think I know exactly where to send the Queenslanders."

"General?"

"We have islands beside French Polynesia in the Pacific, we can send them there. A small population like them will prosper. But first, I want the city secured and their government brought to Apophis so that we can conclude relations."

"Very well My Lady."

From: Hanseatic High Command, H. Asgeirsson

Excellencies,

Recently I have received the surrender of the Queensland Republic. They are now a Hanseatic Protectorate and Brisbane will return to the Commonwealth. As such, I already have over two-hundred fifty thousand men and some two thousand armored forces marching towards the capital. DO NOT engage Queensland or I will take this as an act of war against my own people. Your cooperation in the matter is appreciated but it is time to end this without bloodshed. To specifically Australian armies, you may take perimeters outside of Brisbane, however, to Dranagg you are ordered to stop where you are outside of Torquay, if you march any closer to my capital, I will destroy you. As to the Queenlander government, once my soldiers arrive in Brisbane, they will take your leaders to my capital in Apophis where we will begin negotiations for your surrender and new home. I thank you for being cooperative.

The Eggman Empire is pleased you've shown such openess in our requests. Our Ministry of Foreign affairs is working on a treaty as we speak. It has some to our attention as well, that you and your country are facing a sea-borne invasion. If you would like, the Eggman Empire can dispatch a Fleet consisting the Supercarrier E.I.N. Filoviridae, two medium carriers, the E.I.N. Scalpel's edge and the E.I.N. Dissector, 12 cruisers, 17 destroyers, 21 destroyer escorts, 6 subs, and a myriad of support craft. If you would like, we can also send the 42nd Amphibious Infantry Division to supply ground support. We can have these resources on site in about 7 days. We can also have airborne elements of the 9th Experimental Division and 12th Infantry Division arrive via para-drop in your country in 14 hours. The Eggman government can also provide immediate ICBM support. Please get back to us on this matter.

As Haruhi and Sakuya skimmed through the news, this popped up. They began to blink at the television screen, wondering where this would lead. Thinking of the past, and their lives as civilians in this country at one point, they realized only good could come from it. They hastily took up a pen, and for the first time, wrote a message together. This was familial bonding at a level they hadn't come close to doing in a long time, for once they could finally relate commonly on something from the past, rather than the present.

General Hannah Asgeirsson,

How long it has been since we have both seen the flag of the Hansa wave true. Long has it been since we've been citizens of it, and called the Hansa out homeland, as the same goes for our people. But, we wish you luck, almost to the length of sisters wishing each other well after becoming sick. Should you ever wish to contact us, visit us, or our people, you are more than welcome. Our land is what was once the Hansa's Russian Holdings. We consider them our homeland, but history does not change, and as such, we once more extend the open invitation to open relations.

Signed,

Haruhi Suzumiya

Dear General Asgeirsson,

You would have spent more time in Zargathia than you think then, General.

While it had not yet been made official until after the battles with the Yellow Turbans, Zargathia had received de facto independence almost as soon as I arrived. For the purposes of applying the Hansa's defensive treaties however, this was kept silent until after the fighting was over.

Which brings me to the treaties we had with the Hansatic Commonwealth. Our nations shared a full MDoAP alliance in case the Yellow Turbans would once again rise up within the Lu Empire, and to my knowledge this had never been undone after the threat of war disappeared. We would be interested in expanding this treaty to include Intelligence and Aid, as well as the possibility of reestablishing economical treaties even though we are no longer neighboring countries. Also, given that Promised Land and the Citadel are among our members also, we would like to ask if you would be interested to join the AUP as well.

Hoping to have informed you,

Sincerely,

With the arrival of some two-hundred fifty thousand troops in Brisbane, the traditional capital according to Hannah was as good as hers and when the mop-up reports would be delivered, she and her government would make the trek from her command base outside of Apophis down to the capital. Though besides the expulsion of Dranaggian rogues there were greater matters of a much more political and economic move to complete. The Hansa, after the restoration, of course laid claim to most of the islands that had been included in the World Protectorate. These islands, that included Kiribati, French Polynesia (Marchen), the Cook and Pitcairn Islands, while on the other side of The Citadel's Pacific holdings, laid claim to Micronesia and would eventually enter into discussion with Furon for Guam. As in the time of the beginning of the Commonwealth many years ago, there was much economic power to be gained from the development, exploitation and harvesting of material on these islands while once again making Australia the breadbasket of Hannah's empire.

To do this, change in a system that had almost been reduced to feudalism was necessary. In the time since the fall of the Commonwealth, local power had become supreme with mayors and governors declaring marital law in villages and hamlets across the Australian countryside. During the march towards Brisbane, the new Hanseatic Central Government had used the massive march to kill two birds with one stone. As the main force of the army marched south, along their way local power was replaced by appointed magistrates who Hannah had taken out of the military, at the moment, this was their only pool of command to chose from. Therefore as they swept down, the Hansa was brought once again under the Potentate's control, meanwhile in the north, the army stationed at Rockhampton moved a few regiments towards Mackay and Cannonvale to bring those regions under political control as well.

With the conclusion of this operation, by the time that the Hanseatic front had been pushed into Brisbane, Hanseatic Australia was firmly under Hannah's control. For organizational purposes at this point, every major city along the coast, along with the cities further inland were under the command of a magistrate who had been hand selected by Lady Asgeirsson, these were majors and colonels, now serving military governors until the entire country was stabilized. With organization and a council of governors now in place, economic production could now be turned to construction for cities and towns damaged during the feudal period, centralized food production for the displaced and a return to normalcy for those along the coast, and for the eventual reconstruction of Brisbane. Of course, there was the chance that if they could salvage anything from the Dranaggians it would help alleviate cost. In addition to civilian restoration and construction there was also the need for the construction of military defenses. First and foremost were the beginnings of shore batteries running from Cannonvale in the north to where Brisbane would be in the south, with the lack of a Hanseatic navy at the moment and relying on their allies, this was extremely important. In addition to shore batteries, either new ones or replacing the old ones from the Old Hansa, construction would center on the creation of various missile silos for cruise missile attack and defense.

Meanwhile, the beginning of the Hanseatic diplomatic corps was once again created, necessary for returning the Commonwealth to its previous stages in the world, as well as organizing relations with the Hansa's closest neighbors. These diplomats along with appointed magistrates with Hannah's approval set out towards Micronesia, and the islands of the central pacific to bring these Hanseatic holdings back under the sphere of the Potentate's central power. Slowly but surely the country was being united and the two economic jewels, the Hanseatic Economic Union, along with the Pacific Trading Company would soon rebirth as well. National prosperity once again was only a few steps away.

With the capture of Brisbane from Queensland and Dranaggian hands, Hanseatic unification was all but near completion and massive reconstruction could now begin. First and foremost was the rebuilding of Brisbane back to its former gilded glory during the height of the Tintagylian Period years ago, the economic, diplomatic, and cultural hub of the Pacific would have to return, this was a necessity. Plans had already been in effect in Hannah's mind even while she was still in Eggman about what the new Brisbane would look like and the power and influence that the city was sure to command. Brisbane since the fall of the Commonwealth had seen my far the most destruction and this was aside from the center of the city being completely blasted away by a rogue nuclear submarine, the hunt for this still pending as far as Hannah was concerned. The city during this time, had been reduced to a cesspool of crime, violence, prostitution, and other vices defiling the once great metropolis, the city having fallen into disrepair, in addition to the nuclear bombing and then the war between the 'Tintagylist' Cult and the Queensland Military Junta had reduced Brisbane to a shadow of its former self. What worse was the fact that the New Anglicans, the supposed 'Protectors' of the Queensland Republic had done nothing for the city but quell riots and then had hastily left, mind you there was world pressure for them to leave and it was good of them to have left, but showed the inability of the Queenslander government to turn to their neighbors first.

All in all the Northern sections of the city were devastated by fire, crime, and vice and would need to be completely rebuilt taking a toll on Hanseatic construction elsewhere. However, the capital was to be one of the many crowns of the new Empire and acute attention to detail was imperative. Brisbane would be divided strictly into various zones, a nightmare for municipal management having to follow a despotic zoning code that Hannah had created for the city. But there was no other option, they either built the city back to the image she had, or she found someone else that could. The bid for construction was high priced and sought after by almost every Hanseatic construction company in the Commonwealth and there would be no turning back with such a prize insight.

From the government boroughs in Grange, Albion, and Ascot which had been devastated by the nuclear blast these ruins were to be completely torn down and a massive cultural district was to be created in its stead. Here would be constructed or reconstructed, Brisbane University, the entire borough of Grange would be dedicated to this and the university would take up a section of four square miles of the city. Great spiraling towers in the Gothic design reaching up to the sky, while the university was created in a square fashion with a massive central outside court for natural study, parks, gardens and fountains. In the middle of this court, was the Brisbane National Registry that would hold government records and other documents pertaining to the upkeep of the political system.

Great_Court_by_phenomenologist.jpg

-Brisbane University, Inner Court

South of the University in the areas of Albion, Windsor, heading towards the peninsula of the Brisbane River in the central part of the city was to be the shimmering diamond of the new government. Where once Diet Hall existed as a symbol of Hanseatic political power, a new structure was to be built. The Palac Pontus was to replace the scenery of Diet Hall, this building, created in in the image of the height of the European Enlightenment was the only period that Hannah could muster any love for her once home continent that held so much disdain in her heart. TThe Palac Pontus who hold the chambers of the Council of Governors, the main legislative body of the Commonwealth, as well as Hannah's own personal designs on her quarters. Through the building's gilded halls, using a mixture of white marble and glassy obsidian along the walls, the halls would lead down through doors into the underground where crystalline lighting would take the weary diplomat or leader down to the Inner Sanctum, Lady Asgeirsson's personal throne room. Where, with the same breath of apathy, the Potentate would meet with her guests.

Dark_Times_by_ZephonSoul.jpg

-The Palac Pontus

The famed cultural district, which had been the centerpiece of Brisbane in the Tintagylian Era, traditionally spanned from East Brisbane towards Ascot, this was to be doubled in size. The wreaked houses and corroded buildings along the river were to be torn down, roads were to be repaved, and the shoreline of the river cleaned to make the river front the center of the cultural district. Floating carnival barges would be created as river casinos, running up and down the river during the night. Theatre's would be rebuild along with the Tintagylian design of outdoor cafes, salons, and conservatories running along what would be newly paved roads. It was necessary to restore the cultural integrity of the people and the architecture would be in a style combining the mysticism of Welsh and the High Gothic Period, with the Neo-Classical Period that was common in Finnish Helsinki. The Hanseatics, primarily of Finno-Welsh decent would refuse to forget their roots.

-Tintagyl Theatre, Ascot

With the massive commercial, political, and cultural reconstruction of the city, the residential areas which some of these boroughs would have to be relocated. The northern suburbs which had been effected by the bombings during the attack on Dranaggian occupation would be perfect for this. The rubble and ruins of bombed out areas would be torn up and cleaned, roads rebuilt, and residential zones put in place. Stretching from Alpsey to Strathclyde and further north towards areas where the city began to buy land from other municipalities housing plans would be developed. Rows of single and double story houses, made of brick and mortar ran the streets in the north of the city as the thousands of people who had been without homes, and taken care of by the massive Hansetaic army in the region from the occupation, served as police, caretakers, and even helped in construction if need be. The housing of course was top priority and then the beautification of the city, but it would all fall into place eventually.

Due to Brisbane's reconstruction along with added civilian and military construction through the country. The Hanseatic material economy boomed, men and women worked eight hour days producing the necessary supplies to begin construction and the harbors north of Brisbane would be filled to capacity bringing in imports from other nations around the world. The economy ran like a freshly oiled machine, reconstruction as the only words the machine could say and after this, there was only more work that needed to be done.

"Should they request it, the Hansa have the aid of our people in these re-building efforts."

Yuktobania can provide finances for reconstruction efforts. We can also send workers not involved in rebuilding out national infrastructure to assist in any rebuilding efforts.

As to Promised Land, monetary assistance is appreciated, however human labor is unnecessary as we wish to employ our own people in these projects. With the country rebuilding itself and a population of forty-three million there is a great deal of room for construction, medical, and other types of employment for our people. We thank Yuktobania for such a gift and do hope that our friendship will only grow in the future.
