Mars Hotspot

Recommended Posts

Yes. All wonders have the same hotspot. The hotspot changes it's location at the beginning of every month.

You can move all your wonders on the exact same location and they will all get the same effectiveness.

Erm, dumb question but how do you type in the exact number co-ordinates? So far only know how to drag to spot but not get exactly on :/

I posted instructions in the Moon Hotspot thread for getting and setting exact coordinates; they should work the same for Mars.

The hotspots should always be integer coordinates, however there are minor errors in the distance calculation which will produce a non-zero distance to the hotspot for certain latitudes, resulting in 99% efficiency even when wonders are placed exactly at the hotspot coordinates. I wrote a program to produce error-corrected coordinates for all the error-prone latitudes, and posted a list of the error-corrected latitudes in the moon hotspot thread; the list can be found here. When dealing with any of the error-prone latitudes, using any of the error-corrected coordinates for that latitude will compensate for the distance calculation error.

Thanks it worked, although seems much more complicated than needs to be (not your fault)

I'm about to get a mars base. does it cost money to move mines and colonies? what does the effectiveness do?

Yes it costs money to move, not anywhere near the cost to build and effectiveness is how well the wonder works. Reduces bill and cost of infrastructure by 3% when its at 100% efficiency, so if you only at 50% efficiency it only reduces by 1.5% etc.

It is more beneficial only if you have more of the wonders.

So buy something else next months etc.

For me, just moving costs about 450k.

Moving and resetting colony costs 4.5 mil-ish.

I moved mine to 6.29346, 28.41064 from the original. At 50% efficiency now (so whatever I did was wrong).

My guess would be lat 58, lon 40 if the spot is between the three spots I chose.

Trying with base now.

Never mind, it is 66%

Location: 72.28907, 76.28906 gives me 73%

Location: 70.61261, 86.48438 gives me 75%

Location: 69.65709, 73.47656 gives me 74%

79, sorry.

Dunno how much it is but according to my calculations it should be closer...

You should ask Provost Zhakarov for help if you have trouble finding the hotspot. He's calculated the 100% spot for the moon for several months now, and he only needs a handful of >50% data points to find it, so those of us with moon wonders are consistently getting back to 100% efficiency within 24 hours of each hotspot reset now.
