Auctioning City's Abandon Cars on International Market

---

The operation has began. Singacorp chartered ships docked into the ghost city's harbor, carrying the massive amount of workers, heavy machinery, and supplies needed to bring the Jewel of Malacca back to life. The city's immortal skyline greeted the ships as they were tugged into the harbor by AUP garrison-manned tugboats. For the last decade, the only inhabitants of the silent city were a few hundred AUP personnel in charge of the massive cleanup efforts after the shocking meltdown of the city's nuclear powerplant.

Chu Ying stood on the deck of his personal yacht, his eyes locked on the towering skyscrapers of Singapore which raised like crowded rock pillars from the sea. He had seen old photographs of the city when he young, but nothing prepared him for the eerie magnificent of what he saw. Singapore, he could see now, was a sleeping queen. He would need to wake her.... and raise her up high for the world to see.

-

After a ceremonial handover between the garrison and Singacorp at City Hall, the AUP flag was lowered from its pole and the new flag raised to replace it. The flag was the work of a former Sing-Chinese designer Chu had met in Southern Tang, a white orb being embraced by a moon crescent while points of crimson red radiate from the center. It was a complex analogy to a pearl set to the rising sun and the embrace of the moon's beauty, a symbolism well suiting Singapore.

Singapore was even more beautiful up close. The Central Area of downtown Singapore was mass of elegant glass and concrete towers, the most stunning and tallest of them cluster in an area known as Raffles City. Just across the towers laid the War Memorial, where a 70m tall white obelisk stood in dominance. Everywhere he looked, Chu could see the incredible obsession the Singaporeans had with architecture. Other than some litter on the streets, the area was in pristine condition. The Central Area had been one of the better guarded areas of the city, the AUP regularly patrolled the streets here and most of the major buildings have been lock and boarded to deter looters.

While the rest of the expedition were busy unloading the ships and setting up camp in the Tanjong Pagar harbor terminal (renamed Terminal A), Chu Ying and a group of Singacorp executives toured the downtown area, escorted by AUP personnel. One of the AUP officers told Chu that the outer areas of the city had been ravaged by looters scouring for troves of valuables and property left by former-inhabitants. More specialized collectors had cannibalized the city for its recyclable content to sell to scrap collectors, and even the hi-tech industries of the city had been picked clean of machinery and equipment by salvagers. The only areas left intact were those too close to the busted powerplant, the oil refineries in Jurong Island, the aforementioned Central business district, and the Changi airport patrolled by AUP troops.

As dusk approached, Chu Ying and his assembly quickly surveyed the downtown area for a place to settle for the night. They didn't have to look far, just across from the marina where Chu's yacht docked, was the former five-star Fullerton Hotel, a beautiful boutique establishment sitting right on the mouth of the Singapore River. The hotel like the rest of the city had no power, so a team electrician was called from the main camp to set up generators and lights. The crafty contractors wired the gasoline generator directly into the building power grid, and the building's lights came back to life for the first time in years. As night came, Chu settled into his executive suite room and broke out his laptop and pulled out the planning notes and schedules for the week. The day has ended, but his work was far from started.

Current Week's Reconstruction Agenda:

Restoring power and water

Clearing outer city limits of trespassers

Commercial Operations:

Reclaiming office equipment and supplies in Central Area District for categorization and sale proceeds

---

The clack and clinker of heavy construction machinery droned in the air. In Terminal A, Singacorp engineers were in the process of refurbishing the port's container handling equipment. The port was once the most busiest in Asia, but age and neglect had reduced the working condition of the port's hundred forty-nine quay cranes. The engineers were to replace thirty-six of the cranes with new state-of-the-art ones made by a Singacorp subsidy in Europe. The rest were to be repaired and upgraded as best as possible. The entire operation was to take most of this and next year to complete, but the new European cranes should be operational within five months.

Terminal A was a giant maze of abandoned shipping containers, the entire area a sea of crowded rusty red and faded blue boxes stacked up on one another. In places where space existed, Singacorp's workforce set up their tents, portable lavatories, and outdoor kitchens. There were plans to make use of nearby apartment buildings for living quarters, but with electricity and plumbing still out of service, S.A.B has deemed it a hazard. For the camp itself, gasoline generators and Aqualife® plumbing systems serviced two thousand work personnel.

Chief Admin Chu Ying had placed a ban on workers from entering the rest of the city for none-job related purposes, and his mercenary force of 600 PMCs of Terracotta Security enforced access in and out of the camp. Chu had hired a thousand rural Chinese labourers for the initial reconstruction dirty work, cheap non-skilled workers who would do most of the drywall ripping, street cleaning, moving crates and any other laborious task that paid less than three dollars an hour. The Administrator had no doubt that these workers will ransack the city if left to themselves. He had enough trouble with trespassing looters and vandals as it was.

Singacorp had hired Terracotta Security Limited, an international private military contractor, to replace the AUP garrison as the all-important security element of the project. The Chinese-founded PMC was owned by none other than Chu Ying's second uncle, and for that reason Chu could trust its operatives to do his bidding with zero slip-up. They were furiously loyal to his uncle, and hence him, many of them adopted from childhood by his uncle to be raised as operatives in so-call orphanages his uncle operated. The Chu family was eccentric in that matter, only trusting those who they raised or were raised by. "Loyalty is the most valuable commodity a man can own," his uncle had once said to him. All too true in the world of business.

Terracotta operatives were split between the three main zones of Jurong Island, Central Area Downtown, and Changi Airport to provide security. Police work was not new to them, Terracotta had been hired by governments of all levels to supplement local police or even to replace entire departments paralyzed by corruption or dissent. Squad size groups escorted contractors working in the outer parts of the city, which was infested with shady characters and idling trespassers. These people had to be shown that they were unwanted, so Chu assigned his mercs to clear them out by force.

Operative Elliot Ling sucked on his cigarette as he waited with six of his colleagues at the edge of Terminal A. He was dressed in full tactical gear and had a UMP40 slung on his left shoulder. A colleague murmur something to him in Cantonese, and he answered back with a shrug of the shoulders.

"How would I know what's taking him so long?" Elliot said in Cantonese. He took another draw from his cigarette and breathed out a long stream of smoke. "Probably taking a piss. Or getting a good look at that pretty nurse in the infirmary." His companion laughed, but the others in his squad glance at him with clueless eyes.

"Huh, what'd you say?" Jack Shiff, a white Australian, demanded. "Speak English when you're around me Elliot, you piece of sh-at."

"I said he's probably taking piss," Elliot replied, this time in English. "Screw you man, and screw your English." Jack slapped Elliot across the head, and his cigarette dropped to the ground. Elliot swore at Jack in Cantonese, and he picked the cigarette up, but it had fallen into a puddle of water. "That was my last one you son of a !@#$%*, You owe me a new pack!" Jack grinned and pulled out his pack of French smokes and handed it to Elliot. "Christ, how you go through twenty packs in two weeks? You're gonna get cancer before our contract ends here."

"Just give me another pack you !@#$%*," Elliot retorted. He hated to admit to others that he was a nicotine addict. Worst, there was no cigarettes for sale at the camp vendor. He lighted the French cigarette with a lighter he always carry around with in his back pants pocket and breathed in the harsh smoke. He coughed. French cigarettes...disgusting. Elliot didn't know why Jack buys them, it was like breathing in tear gas. He preferred his Palintine Dragon Gold brand, smokes crammed full with nicotine and nothing else.

"Douse that cigarette Elliot," a voice yelled out from nowhere. The squad turn to see a tall oriental man coming towards them, he was dressed in tactical gear and a red beret with the Terracotta emblem on his head. Elliot threw his unfinish cigarette to the ground and along with his squad, paid attention to the commanding figure. He was Wei Lao Bai, their operational supervisor.

"Sorry Boss," Elliot answered timidly. "I forgot, no smoking on duty."

"Enough with that," he answered with discord. "We got orders from the Admin Board to clear out the Senoko district, specifically the power plant there. We got reports of smugglers operating in the area, possibly armed, so we got to get rid of them before the engineers can restore power to the city." Lao Bai handed several laminated sheets of paper to his operatives, all them bearing the letterhead and stamp of the S.A.B. "These are the eviction warrants. You have permission to detain anyone who doesn't want to leave."

"What if they start shooting?" Jack asked with curiosity.

"I don't want you provoking a firefight," Lao Bai answered in a strict tone. "But if you have to, you shoot to cripple. S.A.B doesn't want any unneeded death on the record." Lao Bao suddenly turned to Elliot. "And you, don't even think about lighting up out there. You're giving the company a bad image, we're clean professionals, not a bunch of thuggish vagrants!" Jack and the others chuckled at the supervisor's lecture, Elliot felt his cheeks go red.

"You'll be supported by Beckham's boys," Lao Bai turned back to the squad. "They'll be joining you on the expressway, they just about finish a shift in the central city reservoir. I myself will be in a chopper covering you from the air with an observer and marksman."

"Beckham's boys?" Kim Song, a Chinese-Korean who was the squad's marksman, blurted out. "Those guys are real quiet. They seriously creep me out. All of them orphans man, heard the company doesn't even pay them."

"I assure you Kim, they get pay," Lao Bai said. "But if you want to get pay as well, I suggest your squad get their butts moving. Terra-co gentlemen and see you in the air."

"Affirmative Sir," Jack replied. "Terra-co, All the way!"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Their armored SUV sped down the Central Expressway, clear from traffic except a few utility trucks heading back to camp. A few abandoned cars littered the sidelines, some having signs of being picked for parts. Tires, rims, and interiors, all taken by salvagers who flocked to the city once the AUP gave the official all clear that the island was radiation free. Many of them were impoverish Welsh and Javans who land on shore in dinghies and small trawlers, loading up on loot and returning home to sell their stuff on the black market.

The Board has labeled these groups as trespassers, and Terracotta operatives like Elliot's squad had been running daily raids out into the city limits to catch them. They were usually detained without too much trouble, all it took was a wave of Elliot's MP45 for them to stop and listen. Some of them were actually living inside the city, collecting scrap and whatever was left of worth onto wheelbarrows and trolleys, then shipping it out on boats that came once a week to pick them up.

"Salvagers, up ahead," Kim said out, pointing his accurized M16A4 at a few figures clinging to the side of a exit ramp. Jack slowed the SUV to a halt, and the squad member's Language Specialist, Sui Qin, shouted something in Vietnamese at the group. It was four dirty looking men pulling out the windshield a sports sedan, which they had planned to load onto a motorcycle-pulled lorry parked a few yards away. The squad got out from their SUV and surrounded the men.

"What you guys doing here?" Sui spat out in Vietnamese. He turned to Jack and said with a grin, "They're Daccans."

"How'd you know they were Daccan?" Jack asked in puzzlement. "

We're Asians... we can tell," Elliot answered with a grin. Kim and the other Cantonese in the squad, Eddie Chan, nodded in agreement. Sui targeted one of the Daccans and began interrogating him in Viet. The man answered in a mess of Vietnamese, obviously lying through his teeth.

"Said he's a worker for the reconstruction. I ask him for his ID card, and he said he lost it. I ask if his buddies have theirs, and he told me they left it at camp," Sui said with a grin.

"Let's shoot the dac-dacs and get going," Eddie Chan joked. "What you think Elliot?"

"Can't take them with us." Elliot clicked the safety on his gun and saw the four men flinched at the sound. "We're suppose to meet Beckham and his orphans in ten minutes."

"Let's radio the Boss," suggested Kim. "Have him send a squad over to pick them up for detainment."

"...No, they'll be long gone after the squad gets here," Jack murmured.

"We can shoot them in the legs."

"The Boss will fire us all if we did that." Jack replied seriously. "Sui, tell these Daccan !@#$%* to leave the city, if I see them again I'll shoot them all in the head and throw them into the Singapore River for the fishes to feed."

Sui translated Jack's warning, and the four men shook their head in compliance. They hurried onto their shoddy vehicle and was about to leave when Elliot stopped them. "Wait," he shouted out. "Sui, ask them if they have smokes."

"What? You already got the pack I gave you!"

"Screw your Frog smokes. If we're gonna let these guys off, I'm expecting some payoff." Jack pulled out Jack's pack of cigarettes and waved them at the Daccans. "Smokes, you got?"

The Daccans looked at him blankly for a moment, than one of them pulled out a crumpled paper pack and handed it to Elliot. He took the pack and smiled. "Thanks man, I owe you." He pocketed the half full pack along with Jack's and stepped clear of the motorcycle-lorry. As the lorry sped away, Elliot felt the eyes of his colleagues staring down on him.

"You know, that's technically a bribe," Kim murmured discretely. "We're not suppose to accept bribes."

"Elliot, you got some issues," Jack shook his head in disgust. "Better not let me catch you smoking those while we're working." Elliot ignored the comments and walked back to the SUV. His squad members followed close behind, it was then that a voice hissed our from their comm radios.

"This is Beckham calling squad Delta... Repeat, calling squad Delta," the cold voice hissed with a pinch of static. "What's your ETA to checkpoint?"

"This is squad Delta, Lao's team, we're on route!" Jack answered out quickly into his comm mike. "Give us about five minutes, over. - Come on, they're waiting for us already......Elliot put that goddamn lighter away."

Elliot Ling stared up at the white ceiling of his infirmary tent. A constant pain picked at him from his right thigh. He was sleeping on a white cot surrounded by medical apparatuses. A nurse was looking up his chart on his left.

"Well Mr. Ling, looks like you'll be good to walk by tomorrow," the nurse smiled.

"Can I get a cigarette now?" Elliot asked impatiently.

"No Mr. Ling, the doctor specifically said no smoking for the next two months," the nurse answered back politely. "Give yourself two weeks to recover before doing anything strenuous. I'd submitted a injury report to Human Resource to let them know that you won't be working till then." The nurse gave one last smile and excused herself from the tent. Bugger.

For the last two weeks hes been immobilized in the infirmary, recovering from a bullet wound. That night in Senoko, things had gotten hot, and a firefight broke up between his squad and the smugglers. As it turned out, the old natural gas powerplant had been made into a drug lab, specifically a heroin lab. Inside the plant, they had uncovered several dozen pallets stacked with bagged heroin. Running the lab was a mixed group of Javans, Welsh and Daccans, all of them armed and a bit mad they had been interrupted.

It all began when their SUV rolled up to the gate of the old power station to find it padlocked. On the streets leading to the plant, they had spotted a few shady men, but they ran off before the PMCs could detain them. Beckham and his men decided to pursue them, while Elliot and his squad moved on ahead to check out the power station.

Jack took out a bolt cutter and snapped the padlock. As they swung open the gate, they heard voices yelling from the plant and figures moving in the shadows. "They know we're here...," Kim said, his rifle at the ready. "What's the plan Shiff? We bust in there shooting? Or do we play cops and read them their rights?"

"Kim, shut up and get back into the car," Shiff ordered. They drove up the gate road and made a right turn into a parking lot surrounded by several buildings. As they got out of the SUV, two men walked into the beam of the vehicle's headlights. They were sporting AKs in hand. The squad drew their weapons. "Put the f-king gun down!" Jack screamed at them. "Sui, tell them to put down their guns dammit!" The two men blurted back angrily in Malay, raising their assault rifles at the operatives. "Put down your weapons, Put down your weapons!" Sui yelled in Malay. "You're trespassing on Singacorp property! We have warrants to detain you...!"

The men ignored Sui, and began running backwards towards the main station structure, disappearing into the darkness. "Dammit," Jack swore out. "Alright, they don't like the fact we're here. Check your weapons and radio, we go in there hot. If any $@!-hole raises a weapon on you, shoot them in the head. Screw what the Boss said." Jack's face was sweating from the encounter. "Air One, this is Delta",he spook into his comm radio, "We're at the plant. We just met two gunmen who just ran back into the main station. We're going hot, could use some air support. Over."

"....Roger Delta, you have clearance to engage if fired upon. I'll break off from Beckham and back you up. Lao Bai out."

Moments later, the sound of whirring blades broke the air, and a Huey helicopter appeared above the station. A floodlight was mounted on the side of the Huey, and it was used to illuminate the darkness in front of the squad. Elliot's squad quickly advanced towards a entrance at the left wing of the station, their weapons trained forward ready to fire. Several men suddenly came out of the entrance and opened up fire. The operatives jumped into cover behind a few cars parked to side of a restraining wall. Above them, Lao Bai and a Terracotta sniper fired their weapons at the gunmen. "Delta, you're clear! Move and secure the left wing!" Lao Bai's voice shouted out from their radio. The operatives scurried out of cover and ran for the entrance.

Inside, the hall of the left wing was empty and dark, save a few electric lanterns spaced across the floor. Not knowing the floor plan of the building, the operatives took up position at a corner and waited. Footsteps broke the silence, then from far down the hall, more gunmen came running. Eddie threw a flashbang around the corner. A ferocious flash and bang stunned the air and the gunmen screamed out. The squad swung from behind the corner and opened fire. Elliot took aim at the gunmen in front, and shot him in the leg. The blinded man collapsed down on the floor and fell on his face. Moments later, all of them fell on floor wounded or dead.

"Put the gun down!" Kim yelled in English at a downed man who was still holding onto a pistol. The Chinese-Korean wacked the butt of his M16 on the man's arms, and the pistol dropped to the floor. The gunmens' weapons were kicked away and Sui began surveying and interrogating them. Meanwhile, Jack ordered Elliot and Eddie to watch the doorway.

"We got three wounded and two dead," Sui said over the moans of the survivors. "One just told me there's ten more guys inside the station, said something about drugs. We just go straight down this hallway, make a left to some stairs and they should be down there."

"They're probably ready for us," Jack murmured out. "I don't like the odds. It's ten against five."

Suddenly, footsteps broke from behind them. A figure with a beret came into view and barked out at the operatives. "Friendlies coming through," Two men in Terracotta tactical gear, the observer and marksman, came up behind Lai Bao.

Huh, boss?" Jack stood to attention. "What you doing here?"

"I sent the chopper to pick up Beckham," said Lai Bao as he stared at the wounded gunmen. "Sui and Kim, give these men medical attention. Jack, Eddie, and Elliot - you're coming with me."

Lai Bao led his men quietly down the hallway and to the stairs that Sui mentioned. At the bottom of the stairs there was a closed metal door. A sign above it told them it led to the lower main floor of the station. Lai Bao opened the door slowly, chatter of voices spat out behind it. Lai Bao motioned his men to stand back. He fired his pistol into the ceiling and shouted out into the darkness.

"This is Singacorp security! We have a warrant to remove all trespassers from this area!" His voice carried like a lion's roar. "If you have any weapons, drop them on the floor, and put your hands up!"

"Fook yu mata'facka!" A burly voice screamed in reply. A burst of bullets impacted the door.

"Flashbang boss?" Eddie asked the op supervisor. "...No, they're probably behind cover," Lao Bai replied. "We'll wait for Beckham, have him sneak up on their rear."

"Me and Eddie can find a way around," Elliot offered. "Then have Beckham join up with us." Lao Bai thought for a moment, than nodded. "There should be a door at the south side of this building. Find it and breach it. If they're done, send Kim or Sui down here to reinforce us."

The two operatives ran back the way they came. Back in the hallway, Sui and Kim were bandaging up one of the gunmen who was shot in the shoulder. "Hey! Boss said if you're done, one of you needs to join up with him at the stairs," Elliot yelled out as he ran pass them.

"Where are you going?!" Kim asked in surprise. Elliot didn't answer back, he and Eddie popped out from the left wing entrance and headed along the south wall to find a door. Blocks of machinery hugged the side wall, Elliot and Eddie kept close to them for cover. The night was dark, the only light being a slimmer of moonlight. As they neared the middle of the station building, they heard something moving in front. They jumped into cover behind a ventilation unit, Elliot took out his flashlight and shone it into the darkness. Figures danced in the light, then the flash of a muzzle. Bullets sprayed onto their cover, bullets ricocheting off metal. Eddie lean out and fired his UMP in burst at the blazing flashes of guns. Elliot followed, climbing over the ventilation unit and fired his gun in controlled bursts. Eddie stopped to reload, then returned to firing.

The exchange went on for three minute. The gunmen were behind cover as well, and neither side dared stepped out from it. Then, from the south, the sound of a helicopter coming in. The gunmen heard it and retreated, shooting wildly as they withdrew. Eddie poke his head out and saw them disappear into a doorway. From above, the helicopter hovered over them with its spotlight scanning the perimeter. Elliot waved his flashlight at it, and the spotlight suddenly locked onto them.

A rope fell to the ground and an operative zip-lined down, followed by five others in succession. A Caucasian man with blonde hair approached Elliot and spoke. "Sorry we're late, so what's going on?"

"Glad you can make it Mister Beckham," Elliot replied. He explained to the handsome British operative Lai Bao's plan. Beckham nodded and signaled his men, all if them masked in balaclavas. None of them said a word. The operative surrounded the access door that gunmen had escape through, threw in a flash bang and popped in with weapons forward. They found a open dark section of the station. Moonlight from high windows broke some of the darkness, but only barely. A maze of pipes snaked above and around them. No sight of gunmen. Beckham took out a night-vision goggle from his bag and sported it on. He signaled to his men to move forward, Elliot and Eddie followed quietly behind. They turned towards the west and crossed the darkness and came up on a door. Beckham checked it, it was locked. He peered through the door's small window. The room on the other side was pitch dark as well.

"No way in," He whispered. "Too dangerous to breach, could be bobby-trapped. We're out of luck boys." Then, one of Beckham's men pointed to vent off to the side and above them. Beckham grinned in response. "Good thinking lad! Charlie, cover the door."

The vent was fifteen feet above them, too high to jump. But Beckham had an idea, he took out a spare zipline from his pack, and threw it over a overhanging pipe. After knotting it, Beckham started to climb. At the top, he prodded the old rusty mesh cover with his gun, then, pushing his feet off the wall, he swung kick into the cover and broke through. There was a few seconds of silence, than the sound of gunfire. It lasted for a moment then died as suddenly as it began. "Clear!" Beckham's voice cried out.

The locked door clicked, and it swung open. Beckham popped out from the dark. "Let's go." He handed a pair of electric lamps to one of his men and Eddie. As they hurried into room on the other side, their lamps illuminated two bodies on the floor. Beckham had taken them out with a single shot in each their heads. A catwalk circled the walls of the room, and as they climbed a stair, Elliot could see the vent beside the catwalk where Beckham had infiltrated through. Beckham led them through a door on the catwalk, and they entered into the next section of the building. This section was brightly lighted, florescent lights and power cables hanged from the catwalks. As he looked down below, they saw rows of white table counters laden with apparatuses, liquid containers, and glass tubes. In a corner, a generator ran. "Bloody hell, its a drug lab..." Beckham said under his breath.

"Alright, Charlie, Ford, and Nixon, you guys take the left stairs, the rest of you follow me." They split into two and descended down the pair of stairs on each side of the catwalk. Elliot saw a figure come out from a door at the far side of the lab and fired a single shot. The man fell, but three more man came out behind him and took cover behind the table counters. Then all hell broke lose.

Glass shards flew and chemical containers burst in the hailstorm of bullets. Elliot took cover behind some machinery on the right, while Beckham hid behind a nearby table counter. "Lao Bai, we're through!" he spat into his radio. "Engaging three! One down! Boys, give me covering fire!" The op supervisor started crawling through the row of tables. Elliot pop out and sprayed his UMP at the gunmen. He ducked back behind cover as a hail of rounds hammered his cover. He reloaded and returned fire. Suddenly, the lights began to die. Elliot look to his side and saw Beckham's men shooting out the florescent lights. "What the hell?" he thought to himself, just as 7.62 round bounced off the floor and hit him in the thigh. Elliot felt a sharp intense pain just as the room went dark with the last florescent tube bursting into a spark of blue. He fell onto floor, screeched out something ungodly. He held onto his right calve and felt wet blood on his polyester pants. A voice cried out to him, it was Eddie. He screamed out as someone touched his wound. A flashlight shone into his eyes. "Elliot? You alright? Jeez."

He blanked out after that, and the last thing he remembered was being put into the helicopter and Lao Bai yelling in the background.

When he woke up the next morning, he found Jack sitting beside his cot in the infirmary. Jack had grinned, and without saying anything, threw a plastic bag with the ricochet bullet into his lap. Later on, he learned that Beckham had taken out all three of the gunmen after the lights were shot. Afterwards, Lao Bai threw a flash through his door just as Beckham engaged the last six men covering their position. The two sides converged, and the gunmen were neutralized. Five survivors were detained and inside the station they found 800 kg worth of heroin stockpile. A further 200 pounds kg churned up in a nearby warehouse.

"So what happen to the drugs?" he asked Eddie on one visit. "The Board had it incinerated. 70 million dollars up in smoke," Kim told him. "Jack said it was a f-ing waste."

Dragonisia, at this time, is not seeking any foreign economic investment, though we likely will in the immediate future. Right now we're to busy introducing internal reforms to restructure our economy to be concerned with obtaining foreign interests. When the time is come we hope Singacorp will be a valued trading and investing partner.

The FRG government will invest $40M in SSI and GOTE will invest $10M in SSI.

Investment accepted. Singacorp thanks you greatly for supporting SSI!

If you are willing to connect Singapore with the Inter-Asia Rail Project, various corporations backed by the Selenarctos government will invest funds totaling 30,000,000NSC.

OOC: 1 National Selenarctan Coin == $1US IRL, $US don't have any value in CNRP.

We are interested in your proposal. We will follow up on it soon.

OOC: I might adopt your currency as my own, if its okay with you.

The Promised Land government is willing to invest $50,000,000 in SSI, and one $500,000,000 share in the Real Estate Redevelopment Project.

OOC: Your generous investment has been accepted, we are grateful for Promise Land's support for our city's future.

"Austria is willing to invest up to 1,000,000,000 Mark to aid Singapore in rebuilding. We do not require repayment, as Singaporean forces and arms aided us when our nation was just beginning to form some years ago. Consider this a thanks."

OOC: 1 Mark = 1.1034 $

Also, I RPd Singaporean troops that were left in Europe to stay there, helping (back then) Bavaria, which grew into my current nation. Just fyi.

We are deeply surprised by Austria's donation to us, but we are a business and will not accept any charitable aid. We will treat these funds as a loan, and will pay them back in due time. Nevertheless, we thank you for your immense support!

The Kingdom of Cochin shall make the following investments in Singacorp in keeping to the principles of our trade agreements.

Singapore Shipping International : $40,000,000

Kingdom of Cochin is also sending its diplomatic-technological team to Singapore.

The Satnam House near City Hall has been prepared for your diplomatic team for use. Living quarters have been reserved at the Fullerton Hotel. Security will be provided by Terracotta operatives, but provisions and passes has been prepare should you prefer to bring your own security team. Thank you once again for doing business with Singacorp.

Right now we're to busy introducing internal reforms to restructure our economy to be concerned with obtaining foreign interests. We look forward to Dragonsia's future investment into our great venture.

"Zargathia is interested in participating in the Reconstruction Partnership. As most of our national export consist of building materials such as wood, steel and rubber, we would like to 'pay' our share in building materials and construction workers if this has your approval. Needless to say the workers will be on the Zargathian payroll."

"We already received more than enough aid from Singapore back when our nation formed; Singaporean forces that happened to be in Europe as the accident happened decided to aid us in our struggle for independence.

Thus, Singapore does not need to pay this money back, even if it's a corporation right now."

That will be acceptable, seeing how things are going with the Asian Super Rail, we'll be hard press not to accept direct access to building materials with demands as they are. As for the issue of workers, we prefer to use our own inside contractors. Instead of workers, perhaps you can provide us with aircraft? We are short on helicopter lifters and pilots, they will certainly speed up reconstruction efforts.

That was the previous government's goodwill, we cannot simply take their favours as ours. We insist on paying you back when possible.

"At the time they decided to join us, the previous government of Singapore had already fallen. Thus, these men joined on their own, as there was no government they had to answer to.

Regardless of the government, they are the brothers of the people you are governing. Thus, we insist that there is nothing you need to pay back."

"Very well, we shall send twenty helicopters along with their pilots to assist in the reconstruction effort. Also, consider Singacorp to have priority access to the market for Zargathian building materials. To a rebuilt Singapore!"

As per the agreement, a ship carrying the Hind-E helicopters along with their crew set out on its way from Ryazanovka harbor to the AUP-controlled part of the Riau Islands, from where they would fly into Singapore. They were expected to arrive in a few days.

The city lives again! The brilliant lights of Singapore's skyline lights up in a spectacular golden aura against the darkening night, for the first time on decades. Most of these buildings are still empty of people, but the ceremony demanded that the city shall not be dark tonight. Fireworks burst over the skyline in celebration. The city has been resurrected after six months of toil by the thousands of workers and contractors working night and day. Now, people can once again populate the empty homes and streets, the city's economy can now truly grow, and Singapore can once again retain its position as a trading sea hub of Southeast Asia. Much had to be done still, but it was a true beginning nonetheless.

Administrator Chin mingles with his guest of honor at the Fullerton Hotel's grand dining hall. Many of them represent the international interests that had invested billions in Singapore's reconstruction, and Chin spared no expense in making them welcome into the grand city they had help rebuilt. Fine white wine is serve, a classical band plays their music as the guest chat and dance, and throughout the night the hotel's kitchen puts out gourmet refreshments.

Business is good, now that Singacorp has a filled coffer and business opportunities to rely on for revenue. 21,000 former-Singaporeans have already bought up prime residential housing and will be moving in within the month. Many of them were affluent and rich families, the exact kind of clientele Chin needs to rely on for the first few years. With yet no large industry sector to attract a large middle-class population, Singapore will have to become the exclusive city of the rich. Plans have been lay out to convert a part of the city into a super shopping district and a tourist paradise. Casinos, night clubs, theatres, etc, will be built first to bring revenue from tourism. Next will come the top-class private academies, medical and plastic surgery clinics, spas, and everything else needed to fulfill the needs of a burgeoning upper class. Singapore, will become the magnificent jewel that Chin had dream of...and more.

Outside in Terminal A, the work camp is in a uproar as workers and engineers celebrate their work with an all out party of pop music and dancing. Terracotta security personnel watch closely by for troublemakers and drunkards, but the celebration is sober if a bit frenzied.

Operative Elliot Ling sucks on a cigarette as he monitors the perimeter around a makeshift stage. Men crowd and cheer around the stage, where scantily-clad women dance to the music blaring out from the camp PA system. He sees one of the dancers eye him, her sizeable breasts juggling in front and pulling his attention as they gleamed in the halogen lights. He smiles at her, she smiles back.

A bump on his shoulder breaks his trance, and Elliot turns to see Jack grinning down at him. "Enjoying the show?" Jack hands Elliot a beverage can before he can respond. "Don't worry, its soda. So how's the leg?" Jack asks as he takes a sip from his drink. Elliot throws his cigarette on the ground before opening the beverage. "Still hurts a bit at night when I sleep, but its good." He gulps down the drink, subtlety turning his head back to the dancer, but she wasn't looking his way anymore.

"Five more days, our contract ends and we get a ticket home," Jack softly said over the sound of the crowd. "Though I'll admit, I'm gonna miss this place. A lot better than the other hell holes you and I were in, ey mate?"

"Beats getting sand in your $@! any day."

"Sure does...."

"...You know, the SSD here is looking for deputies. I been thinking of joining."

"What? A cop? Yea I know about Security Department hiring. A measly 45 grand a year! We just made 40 grand alone in 6 months. Back in RA we were making 10 grand a month working mil-contracts. Dam mate, why you want to miss out on that?"

"I got shot man...it made me think, seriously. I could had f@#ing die out there that night. I'm 26 now, and for seven years I been running around with a gun strap to my @ss and getting shot at. I want a new life, marry a nice gal and have kids, grow old to see them have kids. I don't want the risks anymore. F-ing tired of it. F-ing whole reason I'm chain-smoking like a lab monkey."

"Woah, chill out mate. Why don't you just retire, you got the money right?"

"Can't, I got an older sister with debts back in Guangzhou. Whole reason I joined Terra to be a gun for hire. I know its stupid, but shes the only family I got. Almost have them paid off, just need to work for a few more years. I can do it as a street cop on 45 grand a year."

"...You got a sister?"

"Yea, you probably wondering why I never told you ey you prick? The point is, I don't think I can live through another contract."

"Hey mate, if you're that serious about it, then take the job. Hell, maybe I'll join you, open up a cigarette store, you know? Maybe marry your sister," Jack winks. "Everyday you come down to my shop for a pack, you can watch me fondle her in front of you."

"You wish man, you wish..." Elliot grins back. "Fat chance she'll marry a loser like you mate."

"Better chance than you with that dancer once she sees the nicotine stains on your teeth."

Before Elliot can reply, the noise of a scuffle breaks the air. An engineer and a laborer were throwing fists at each other just below the stage. "Time to get to work," Jack said as he pulls out a stun baton. The two operatives push through the crowd, shouting at the brawlers. Over them, fireworks continue to burst in symphony.

OOC: That seems to be fairly close to the scale he was working with.

OOC: I know, he's just a little under a third fast and for the initial rebuilding it probably doesn't matter that much, it was just a note for future actions.

Selenarctos sends it's congratulations, keep up the good work.

OOC: And a side note, the most common time scale is 1 month IRL = 1 year in CNRP.

OOC: I been using the guidelines sticky in the forum: 1RL Day = 15 Days

IC: We are in the midst of opening a public elementary and secondary school to serve our employees living in the city who have children. We will name both in your country's honour, Zargathia Primary and Tojimaru Secondary.

"We feel honored by your kind gesture... On an unrelated note, will the Hinds and their pilots still be needed? As you may or may not know, Zargathia is currently building up an airforce, and the pilots that assisted you would be up for their jet pilot certifications soon after the first group of trainees returns. It's a matter of scheduling, you see, as we would need to know if a full complement of replacements will need to relieve the ones currently on site."

OOC: Oh, that's in the ERP thread, not the CNRP thread ;) .

OOC: Correct. There is no set standard for CNRP, but most people use 1RL month=1RP year, while a few use three months to a year, and some don't use a scale at all, relating passage of RL time equally to the passage of RP time.
