Global Radiation Level (GRL) is a value that reflects the number of nukes used over the past 30 days (correct me if I'm wrong on the time period). Your environment worsens as long as the value of the GRL is above zero (at least one nuke launched).

Pros:

-Possible lowering of number of nukes launched

-Slower inflation due to worse environment implying lower happiness implying less money each nation takes in

Cons:

-People who like perfect environments are disgruntled

-Slowed growth (also pro)

Global Radiation - Global radiation is a count of all nations in the game attacked with nuclear weapons in the past 30 days. Global radiation negatively affects everyone's nation environment in the game up to level 5.0. The bonus resource radiation cleanup reduces global radiation for your nation by 50%. The current formula for global radiation is: radiation = (total nukes * 300) / total nations
