IRON: +6 wonders

I'm not doing biggest loser (lots of alliances had a change of 0), or passes (the rules for tiebreaking changed from the first stat collection, where I wasn't tracking space programs).

IRON continues to supply evidence for the belief that the best time to buy these wonders is right after a war in which a nation's NS has been greatly reduced, but it still has significant remaining warchest. As well, the difference in development rate of these wonders between NPO and IRON suggests that the extended war that NPO experienced did actually drain most of their nations' warchests.

It is also interesting to note how many nations have opted to buy colonies before mines. Given a proper resource set, a mine has a better economic impact on a nation, however it does not have the military utility of a colony. Seems that at least some people out there are preparing for their next ZI already.

Interesting to see which alliances have more of a space investment. Certainly standing out is RnR, a relatively small alliance that is #8 on this list, including a significant number of Martian bases.

At the other end of the scale, well, the Athenians at least beat WAPA into space. :)

RnR: 38 Space Programs

Athens: 33 Space Programs

We have space programs just nobody going to the moon or mars except our beloved raccoon. Feel free to educate me if I am wrong but aren't moon and mars wonders are generally bad investment compared to the other available wonders?

I'm not going to graph them.

I'm hoping to update this every weekend or so.

Fine, I'll graph them then. I do enough of it at work that this stuff comes second nature to me by now. Hell, now you got me interested, I may just have to do this every day you don't. >.<

Jack, the bases are near 0 RoI, it's what you build on the bases that give you a good return.

Oh, and this totally needs Space Programs listed too.

It depends on a few factors.

One, your current NS. The lower it is, the better the investment they are.

Two, which other wonders are available to you. Obviously if you're getting to the point like me where it's buy a FAC or a moonbase, well the moonbase is better. :P

Three, your tradeset. If your trades line up nicely with one of the mine resources, well, some of those mines can be pretty awesome. :)

The ROI is terrible at all levels. I won't be investing in these myself until I run out of other eco/mil wonders.

Sorry Invicta but this kiss goodbye guy is from TOP! so he probably knows his stats ;)

This means that Athens just so happens to be the smartest alliance on the list, because we have the least moon and mars bases in comparison to our size :v:

EDIT: added in extra words for the hell of it.

I would personally rather we had none and saved our money.

Instead, of course, you guys are #4, while your allies in Grämlins are #2.

At least the guys in IRON hopefully bought their bases at the "I've just been Curbstomped and my NS is Suppressed" cut-rate, while you guys and Grämlins may well have spent more per base than anyone else in the list.

In any event, this is a stat thread, so hopefully it won't get overrun by debates over the value of these wonders.

The majority of our nations that bought these have all the other wonders, or all the other wonders minus the FAC and FSS. I can't help what my fellow nations buy, but I'm not going to be buying these wonders personally.
