Decision Time in the Canaries

A vote has been set up in the Canary Islands, as to whether the Islands should become an integral part of Drakoria, and if the people should be welcomed as brethren of the Drakorian people.

Two men spoke on the subject.

Adviser Dan Donegan, speaking on behalf of the still-hospitalized King.

"People of the Canary Islands! Drakoria has protected you from the rages of anarchy, and from the hands of some ruthless invader who may have spoiled the beauty of these magnificent islands. Your homes still stand. Your personal freedoms remain. The people of Drakoria would be more than happy to welcome you as our brothers, our sisters. I ask for you to go to the polls today, and choose to become a cultural part of Drakoria. I ask you to do this for unity, for strength, and for mutual freedom!"

Juan Pavlovich, a pro-Independence man that is thought by many to be deranged.

"People of the Canaries! Vote against annexation! Poke the elephant in the foot! ROFLMAO. I have shrimp for your daughter! This is not Sparta! Lolwut?"

Currently the polls stand as thus.

Join Drakoria: 32%

Remain Protectorate: 14%

To Vote: 54%

We'll give you coverage on this until a decision is reached.

FRG election officials are checking to make sure these elections are fair and so far the numbers match the will of the people. We know that our allies will care for these islands either way and urge the citizens to vote for whatever they feel is the best direction for the Canary Islands.

How convenient to let a close ally check the elections. Sverige does not recognize this imperialistic move until a neutral party ensures that the population indeed chose to join Drakoria. Even then, its a very hypocritical move of Drakoria. They criticized Lubeck and Bavaria for doing a similar thing, with the difference that Lübeck (600 miles), and especially Bavaria (nextdoor) aren't that far away. Drakoria is 3000 miles away, it shares no linguistic, cultural or ethical history. Sverige really can't wrap his head around this one.

FRG officials monitored on their own accord. We didn't invite them to. We never criticized Lubeck and Bavaria for this. They never held an election.
