VigilantWatcher
A snap election has been called due to the death of the winner of the previous Presidential Election Alex Crane, died from Pneumonia. This election has come Presidential Election Candidates Curristan Rational Socialist Party – President Kerry Long Currently Curristan President. Was Vice President beforehand but she took over as President when Alex Crane died from Pneumonia. Wants to continue his policies in keeping Curristan under Rational Socialism and also reform the judicial and welfare system. She would like to make diplomatic overtures to other nations and build up Curristan's reputation. She wants to also sign an agreement with the Hanseatic Commonwealth. He has however lost support over the recent economy troubles and has had a dent in her chances of being re-elected. Curristan Liberal Party – Kyle Smith Third Opposition Party. Would like to make Curristan a Liberal Democracy. Wants to become a neutral state and refrain from signing agreements. He wants to introduce a law banning the sale of firearms to civilian markets. He has strong support and has a chance of getting into office. Curristan Democracy Party - Amy Fry 4th Main Party Leader. She would like a Centrist Democracy in Curristan. She wants to have ties with every government in the world and is tipped to do well in the future. She sees the economy as her priority if she gets into power. Curristan Tintagylic Party - Polly Richards Came Second in the last Presidential Election. Campaigning on a plaform of peaceful co-existance with the other nations and using diplomacy rather than war to solve problems. Wishes a political alliance with her idol Sarah Tintagyl. Has strong fanbase and has a very strong chance of winning the election. Curristan Nationalist Party - Bob Jameson Leader of the most unpopular party in Curristan. Campaigns for a Nationalist Curristan. Wants a strong military and wants to expand Curristan's borders. Only has a small amount of support. Not likely to make a strong challenge for the Presidency. The Shadow Party - V Political newcomer. Leader of the newest Political Party in Curristan. Wants to establish a Liberal Republic in Curristan. Has surprised everybody by getting some strong support. Has a fair chance of winning but will be probally beaten by the more experienced candidates. The Pre Election Poll has come out today and the results do now look good for the current government, which had been the case for some time. Pre Election Poll Results Curristan Rational Socialist Party – President Kerry Long: 14% Curristan Liberal Party – Kyle Smith: 10% Curristan Democracy Party - Amy Fry: 32% Curristan Tintagylic Party - Polly Richards: 37% Curristan Nationalist Party – Bob Jameson: 1% The Shadow Party - V: 16% There is a very likely chance that the Curristan Rational Socialist Party will no longer be the ruling party when the election results come in. The Curristan Tintagylic Party led by Polly Richards who won the Opposition Party seat at the last election, now has a significant chance of becoming the top party in Curristan. The Nationalist Party has for the last 4 Presidential Elections failed to come other than last. Edited July 12, 2009 by Curristan

DeRaadspensionaris
The United Netherlands refuses to back one of the candidates because it would be imprudent to interfere in some other countries' domestic policies but slightly agrees with the candidate for the Liberal Party although is completely at odds with him when it comes to gun control. The United Netherlands believes (as is also states in the Union of Utrecht which serves as our Articles of the Confederation) that a free people has the right to bear arms to protect them from an enemy, both foreign and domestic (which would also mean the government if the government loses it's mandate by becoming tyrannical). I recommend that you avoid contact with him as much as possible. I recommend that you get one of your servants to dress up as a Mushroom with a waist-coat and claim that you are in another castle. Apparently, Angus appeared in Low-Budget Italian...Adult Films. The coffee he talks about will be spiked, so if he does finally find you, refuse it at all costs. Yours Faithfully, A. VigilantWatcher
Some questions for V.1. What is your economic plan? 2. What are your foreign policies? 3. Right to bear arms or gun control? "That are good questions. Well, my economic plan is to turn Curristan into a country that exports products to other countries. I will also reduce taxes and spend more on welfare and education. I wish Curristan to be a dominant economic power in South America. My foreign policy will be to build ties and friendships with other nations. I will keep the current law on gun control which is that anybody is allowed to own one rifle and one revolver or pistol, as long as they register them on the National Civilian Weapons Database."
