Darkness and Light

Betrayed by countrymen and trusted allies, enraged by his entrapment, and driven insane through his escape and slumber, his peaceful thoughts were silenced by the screamings for blood, war, and for the beast that was hatred that slept many a night in the back of his mind, there was nothing left of Mykep than his crooked smile. It only smiled for another reason.

Guns were not needed and were too slow in the job he wanted to do, he cut a bloody path out of own country and made his way to Brisbane, were he would end the peaceful music that enlightened the rest of the world. He would finish off that voice of reason and make what all beings crave...death...power. This night would be the perfect night, down pouring rain with thunder covering the rustling through the leaves and the lightening to guide his path and the same the night to cover his tracks. Tonight...an internal struggle would end.

The Military and militia were nothing to worry about. He dodged out of thier reach with ease as the night and rain made it difficult for a simple soldier to catch wind of a man on a mission. He made his way to Solidor Manor, to face his first opponents, the Lillian Gaurds.

Archon Mykep, seemingly as calm as though engaged merely in a friendly fencing bout, advanced steadily with the point of his weapon directed against the gaurd in the centre of the trio, and apparently indifferent to an attack on either flank by the others. Inch by inch the Archon advanced into the defensive stance of the gaurd. A quick slit of the throat allowed the Archon to turn his attention to his left flank who sailed his blade upward into a block and with a twist of the blade thrusted it into the throat of his newest victim. His head turned slightly to catch the reaction of the other gaurd attempting to take a swipe at his back. The adrenaline pumped through the archon who side stepped out of the way, slammed his blade into his foes, bringing it closer to the ground, out of the defensive position it was in, and took a chunk of the gaurds face off with a clear flick of the wrist.

The blood did not stop pouring into the gathering rain water, as Mykep made quick dealings with the gate gaurds as he sliced open the leg of one, and finishing him off with a downward stab that cut through his heart and penetrated the floor, and dodged a blow only to slice a clear, open path from the second gaurds liver to his mouth.

The stained blade dragged behind Mykep as he made his wayto the front door. The men there charged at him with guns, screaming hopeless shouts of disarming himself. He had clearly anticipated this move, parried the gun barrells out of line with him and with lightning rapidity cut his enemy down with a mortal blow from one, to the other. The ground bathed in blood, the only obstacle was the door.

After severing the key ring from the waist belt of the Lillian bleeding from several places, he cut a deep wound in his side in a fit of rage after nt being able to cut a simple belt loop. His hands shook with adrenaline, making it hard to put the bloody key into its hole. After several tries, he turned it and thrusted the door open. The dry, musty air met the damp outside winds bringing droplets of water into the house. A staff member present at the door way, saw the shadowy being enter. In an attempt to run away, he was cut down as the blood was throw through his chest.

Mykep removed his hood, then his blade from the soon-to-be corpse on the floor. He looked upwards, at the well lit stair case, and smiled his crooked smile, only for it to be broken several seconds later:

"SARAH!!! COME OUT AND PLAY!!!"

The shout pierced the young woman's eyes almost instantly. It was far too maniacal, far too hostile to be any of the normal guests, yet the voice did sound a bit familiar. Sitting up in the bed Sarah turned to the clock on her nightstand. Two thirty in the morning. She sighed and growled at the disturbance. Who in their right mind could want to wake her at this time and on a weekday no doubt. She would have to be downtown in just a few hours. The voice repeated again and this time, a shudder went up her spine as she walked over to grab her robe and walked out of the door. Tying the silk tightly, she shuffled slowly, causiously down towards the main staircase leading to the entrance of Solidor Manor. Just by walking out of the room, Sarah immediately smelt the stench of death in the air. Fresh death, she knew it well and hastened her ran towards the entrance. Someone was inside the Manor, someone was killing, and if they were killing servants and guards, they were going to kill her. But not in her house, this would end.

She approached the staircase and looked down. The dead bodies of her guards and servants scattered over the marble floor, while the chandilier shown eerily down towards the figure at the center of the staircase. "Archon? Mykep?" Then she saw the blood. "What the hell?! What have you done?! You realize what you are doing?! How dare you come into my home and do this to my people?! You will be arrested and you will be executed for this...I swear to you! Guards!" Sarah called out, but there was no answer.

"Guards?" Still no answer then she stared back down at him, fire in her eyes. "You !@#$%^&. How dare you! What is the meaning of this?"

Mykep made his way up the stairs, looking foward. He dragged the bloody blade behind him, having it *clink* with every step upward.

*clink*

"I..."

*clink*

"...have had enough..."

*clink*

"OF YOU SPOUTING YOUR LIES"

He charged up the stairs and slashed at the floor at Sarah's feet. He looked up at her. Blood and rain dripped from his brow. His glance focused only on her as he slowly removed his blade from the broken floor panels. She backed away slowly, he followed in the same pace, chasing after her with a blank face other than that crooked smile.

"I decided that its time to address the fact that peace is never coming...Ever. Our mission almost brought nuclear war to this ever so long lasting continent...AGAIN. That I've had it with peace through war, so lets try something... new!" He pulled out a shorter blade, and with a swift pivet, threw it at a distant staff member who attempted to quietly sneak her way to a phone. Only to be interupted when her sternum was cut into pieces. He slowly piveted back to Sarah, who he rushed his pace until he was standing nose to nose to her.

"It seems people never want more when there are guns pointing everywhere, so let the world burn and even the playing field for everyone. I believe that would certainly make less work for us, wouldnt you say?" If it wasnt the mere shock she already had, it was the rumble of thunder that made its way through the open door downstairs that shock the building and flickered the lights. A drop of blood brought the thought process back together for the both of them as it dropped from his chin to her feet.

"Now will I be killing anyone else today, or will you quietly escort me to the ballroom for a dance? Not the tango, but more of one where your blade shall meet mine and I'll end this terrible nightmare of yours, or you shall end mine."

When he slashed the floor Sarah immediately jumped back from the blade as the sword caught the marble. Her mind was racing at how to get this maniac out of her house and into the graveyard where he belonged. Then the quiet sound of a maid waking up from her left, it was too dangerous, she had come out from her room because of the noise. "No! Mary! Get back!"

"Lady Sar-" The blood began to pour from her mouth as the young girl dropped to her knees. Her life force gone.

"You monster! Who do you think you are?" He stood close to her and the smell of blood was everywhere. On him. Around the room. On her even and then one single droplet of blood feel from his chin on her bare feet.

"Now will I be killing anyone else today, or will you quietly escort me to the ballroom for a dance? Not the tango, but more of one where your blade shall meet mine and I'll end this terrible nightmare of yours, or you shall end mine."

"You sick !@#$%^&. You come into my house, kill my servants and then challenge me to a duel? Is that how this game is going to be played?" He nodded. "Fine, I'll enjoy wiping the floor with you. But you'll have to excuse me to put something more decent on."

Sarah drew back, always watching him toward her room, but when she entered, she left the door open. Just in case if he would get any ideas, she would be able to know it. Changing into her military uniform and tying her hair back in a ponytail she grabbed her rapier out from her wardrobe and walked back out into the hall. Only nodding at him to follow her, she walked down the hallway towards a large room at the back of Solidor Manor. "Welcome to the ballroom." She bowed her head and walked further than him into the center of the room and drew her rapier, pointing it at his face. "Satisfied?"

Mykep ripped a rapier from the wall and made his way to Sarah.

"Very."

The duel began as Mykep ran foward into a lunge thrust that was blocked by hilt and countered. He blocked as well. The dance went back and forth with blocks and counters and attacks. It stopped for a moment as they circled the ball room.

"Is this your way of a peaceful resolution? I kill several people and I may walk away from this in one peace in a duel? You're weak, this entire peaceful coalition makes you weak. You could be so much more."

With his last word, he parried and went for another thrust.

"Weak!"

Sarah screamed as she parried his attack and lunged forward on her own. The sound of clanging metal echoed through the ballroom as the two warriors pressed their attack. "I looked up to you, I thought we could do great things." She said as she undercut towards his legs, a successful parry. "Damn." She yelled as she moved back across the floor, guarding from his onslaught. "I looked at GPI and what could be accomplished and looked at what was accomplished. The world had stability at least for a time. You were to thank for that."

A high attack as she slashed for his throat, but guarded again as she forced the Archon towards the eastern wall of the ballroom. "I suffered in this war. I suffered alone, but that madman is dead and the world should be thankful for that. I do not look at peace because it humors me. It is the only thing in this world that can sooth my heart. It is the only think that is keeping me away from the dark pit that you and so many other rulers have fallen into." A high attack by him, forced her once again across the floor. "But I will never become a monster like you and Visari. I won't allow it."

Sarah's eyes flashed red for a moment. "But never call me weak! I helped forge the world you seek today, peace achieved by my very hands. Don't you dare call me weak! I am stronger than you could ever hope to be! I am more, more than anything that world could ever hope for!" She slashed wildly at his blade.

"Monster? Ha!"

He stopped his thrusting and started taking his blade and bludgering her blade, causing her to go backwards.

"We caused war in the name of stability...

He slammed his blade into hers.

"You sacrificed your people in your efforts for peace."

Again he pounded into her blade

"You colonize half the world..."

This time, he through a greater amount of force into it, causing her to trip backwards.

"AND YOU SELECT YOUR FIGHTS YOU THINK ONLY OF YOURSELF"

She ran out of room, and his sword crashed into the enterance of the balcony, which opened up, causing her to fall out in the rain. A dreadful look with a dark gaze fell upon her as Mykep stared down at her. The rain poured down upon both of them. He allowed her to stand up, but he held his rapier tightly and was resisting the urge to strike her down again as she came up.

"If I am a monster for the killing of a dozen, then there is no name for you... Lady Protector, or shall I call you Empress? Your title is fitting for the role you will play in the future... Monster."

Again, he lept at her, the fight would continue on the balcony.

Sarah stood back up in the rain, as the heavy droplets crashed down on her head and slowly ran down the strains of her hair. "I did what was necessary to bring down the demons of this world. You don't think that every night I stay up and think about what pain I've caused. I can't sleep anymore because what has happened. I am indebted to my people, I am indebted to the world. How dare you say that everything I have worked for, everything that I have dreamed is a chaotic din of mutated wishes. No! I will never believe that!" She said slashing against him, trying to regain her ground on the balcony. She did quickly and lunged at him again, knocking him against the wall.

"We caused war to defeat war."

She slashed.

"I sacrificed everything for the greater good of this world. Everything I am, Everything in me!"

She thrusted forward.

"I offer the world solace, peace, freedom!"

She parried.

"AND I ONLY THINK OF EVERYTHING THAT MAKES ME WHO I AM! THIS COUNTRY! THIS CONTINENT! THIS WORLD! IF I AM TO BE EMPRESS THEN STOP ME ARCHON! STOP WHAT YOU CONSIDER EVIL! BUT THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GOOD AND EVIL! THERE ARE ONLY THOSE WHO SURVIVE AND I WILL NOT...WILL NOT BE DEFEATED BY THE LIKES OF YOU!"

Their blades caught each other in a stalemate as Sarah's face dripping with the same blood as Mykep's stared at each other. "I may be a monster. But I have done more for this world than anyone else. Perhaps to you I am Satan incarnate, I am the Antichrist. But to others, I am their only hope and I will not give up on them, even if the world gives up on me and my people! But I will never, ever, ever give up!"

Adrenaline pumped through her body, ushering near mythical strength into her muscles as she grinned maniacally at the Archon and threw him back with a yell against the wall. "I will never give up."

OOC: Traitors go Sarah go. Must say this is an amazing piece of roleplay and it gives me the same sort of on the edge of your seat excitement as any movie. Hope to see more soon :).

OOC: One-man duels are epic, regardless of who participates or what the text is.

It's part of our genetic code since the middle ages. :awesome:

He began to circle, as did she. The pouring rain made an inch of water at thier feet. Each step was taken with a splash.

"You have no problem boosting your own ego, do you? You know why I wanted peace for the world? So I can have a family, and not worry about my duties to my nation. For my own personal self. I was selfish. Now what is your reason? And leave out the !@#$%^&*."

They clashed together, bost thrusting causing the other's to be caught in a parry diagonally upward. They looked at each other with discontent inbetween the blades.

"You are no better than the rest of us. You fight for yourself, and yourself alone. Spare the lies of fighting for the world, it is your own safety and security you are after. Its what we are all after. Its just how we secure it is how we are measured in a lifetime. No, its moreso the opinions of people who attempt it through other means that judge us. You'll find yourself on the other side of the stick one day. We all do, we'll all be seen as the bad guy every once and awhile, but so many have fought in your name, so many will fight to see your legacy destroyed. Consider me the scout, the one who thought ahead. Your fate will be the same as all monsters and all heroes alike. You'll die before you achieve your goal, or live long enough to see yourself become the villian. The very thing that you hate. You'll be judged by your friends, allies, and fellow countrymen. You care too much for what others think. Achieve what you want and end this little duel of ours, and show your worth to me."

He pushed back on her sword. As she slipped back into her stance, he stepped backwards and lowered his rapier. The water dripped down to the tip of the rapier, and into the gathering water underneathe them. A strike of lightening lit up the skirmish and showed the faint sorrow in his eyes that overcame the sweltering anger and hatred he possessed.

"End it, and begin anew."

She held her sword close, guarding any attack he might be able to strike with. "What do you want me to say? You want me to say that I want to conquer the world? You want me to say that I will kill millions upon millions to achieve my goals?" Sarah spat on the ground at his feet, as the lightning struck the ground near the gardens. Thunder rolled across the sky and the entirety of Brisbane seemed to light up for a moment, in a horrific white light. Sarah's skin shown like the paleness of a vampire, mixed with the blood already dripping from her face. Similar to the look that the Archon had come into the Manor with, but now it seemed that things were changing. The rain had cleaned his face except for the dried blood, while Sarah's ran fresh with the recent wounds to both of the warriors.

"I never wanted any of this. If you wanted to know the truth, I never wanted politics, all I wanted was to spend my live in Helsinki, growing old, loving the life around me. I was thrown into this mess. But I learned something." She held her sword high. "I learned that leaders are stupid, that nations are stupid. They chase after dreams, dreams of nationalism. Contrary to your people, I never once had a nationalist dream. But I realized long ago that only I can rule the Hansa. Only I can provide the wisdom and the strength for the Hansa, they would be lost without me. This world, would be lost without me! There are no heroes and there are no villains! There is only life and there is only death!"

"I considered you a friend! I considered you someone who could share my dream! That maybe this world isn't the burning !@#$ hole that it has become. But none of that matters now. If I am to become the villain so be it, I am already a villain in half the world's eyes. What do I care about the other half."

Sarah watched as he lowered his rapier and stood nearly defenseless and the sorrow in his eyes. "What is this? You kill my servants, try to kill me and then concede?" She screamed, her yell mixed with tears and rage. "WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO TO ME!?" Her rapier still raised, in case of an attack. "WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?! WHAT?! WHY?! WHAT IS THIS?!"
