It was a day of celebration and mourning for the Aether Empire... while they didn't realize it, they had halted the bombing of major Nod Cities and saved countless civilian lives. Yet they'd also taken 24 of their own casualties in the north from dog-fights with much bigger dogs.

To the north, the air-planes were easy to pick off as they weren't armed for anti-air combat anyways, although they were already on the retreat and sticking low to the ground as possible, losses were unavoidably high. Anti-air batteries and SAM sites as set up earlier and well positioned on Aether Home turf responded with vengeful cries as the white streaks of missiles flickered in the sun and flames and smoke billowed in the air. Aether air-force ejection systems were poor for these early crashes and there were no survivors... not that they had any experience anyways. The one new recruits body crumpled out of the side of the plane, his body blown about by the explosion of his own fuel... As he burned in the dessert sands a different situation was known to the south.

The south, unawares of the battle to the north was in celebration for their own victories. Pictures were being sent and aired by the Aether Empire around the world of entire massive bombers strewn across fields their wreckage mingled with MIG-35 debris. Video went to the internet, that most wonderful of places, of Aether flags hanging off downed Somal air-fleets and (as the soldiers were quick to pick up on the language and various writings written on the components) there was soon a picture of downed bomber with words spray-painted on the side:

"Made in Cochin - Downed in Nod!"

Another soldier in an interview announced the oddities with as much joviality as possible:

"What the heck did we ever do to Cochin! That's what I want to know!"

The revelry was intensely satisfying to the men as they had just had their first taste of battle, and the result was a staggering success in their opinion. However, the excitement also required military action as well. All soldiers were put on alert and any downed fighter pilots were immediately captured and brought back behind enemy lines discreetly by the Aether Empire as they found them... they then mobilized to have them transported back to the Aether Empire on the Northern section, where they would be held as POWs. It would not be best in Aether's opinion if the Nation of Nod were to accidentaly execute these men on international television as public enemies were already high enough. All the wounded were being taken care of and several units were deployed to help with these and defend the POWs as they made their way back to Aether Soil.

Catching POWs wasn't on the main objective though... the enemy forces were now moving in from the ground and Aether had to act fast as Nod could only hold out against them for so long and in some regions Aether stood to take a direct path from the enemy. Forces were from before re-mobilizing and taking taking a more optimal front design with only tanks staying put. War Tzars took on a more ground-centric support role with only 30% of war Tzars in anti-air mode in the rear, 60% took up tank turrets and only a sliver, 10% were working to put together long range artillery... They did not know the enemy was moving slow, but this made it no less easy. Artillery equipment would take longer then the War-Tzars to flip as soldiers moved to-and-fro repositioning themselves for the coming showdown and fitting the other's setups to their desires... (nothing like moving in to another's sandbag room)

The Aether Empire forces on the western front are requesting power through some means asap, we need the energy supplies to power up more artillery to thin down the enemy lines. Please get power equipment here as soon as possible.

Overall, the Aether Forces needed all the time they could get to become prepared in this region (unlike the North which seemed to have time in the plenty). Thus operations were set into motion to try and buy them time and cause as much damage on the enemy as they moved to slow them down! (Which is funny given their current status)

This was a job set for recon and their full force was used... 1/4 were to go as an advanced strike team with support from Nod and Aether Artillery as Nod would allow and the others was to work to booby trap the jungle and mountains the enemy was heading towards... mining roads setting up IEDs bungee sticks and all kinds of havoc towards the front of the forested region. As the enemy was to approach they were to use their camo to grab the most hidden position and a few took to the higher trees staying in the thick leaves to snipe off enemy units. On the mountainous roads with jungle many were ordered to strap their rocket launchers to the tree itself with a loaded rocket... as the enemy was to come up the road, they were to fire upon them when optimal setting up large segments of ambushes. The goal was to turn the jungle into the enemies nightmare.

In the meantime, 340 squads were to bring down the most havoc in the ground war this side of Nod. There forces were thin and trained for staying hidden, these were RECON boys and they were going to RECON the heck out of some enemy tanks and men. As their sight units (binocular commander) would sight enemy targets of opportunity they stayed even closer to the ground and hardly moved at all. A unit of soldiers, sniper fire would be coordinated and several units would hone in at once while the rest of the squad held themselves back. Then they would hastily retreat and change directions like a crockroach (SP I know) and seek out another target. Tanks on their own would be slowed by machine gun fire from several soldiers from two units, the rocket launchers would then take the weaker flank and park missiles before and after the tank to create a cover over the entire unit blowing it into a stall... two other ground units would then bring down the kill from opposite orthogonal vectors as they came. Air units were the hardest, soldiers were to try and keep cover and call in Aether RADAR with a missile to splash them down... but if they couldn't be avoided missile crews had to do the job while machine gunners would try to draw some cover for them.

This was the strategy for taking the enemy at their front as they couldn't possibly move as a solid mass of units. And in such cases the alternative was even better.

-Several squads of recon posted themselves to hiking the mountain just south of the region. Their goal: To target large masses of enemy tank movments as they came in. If the group had seven tanks or less, (but not a lone tank) then it was to be taken out by IED emplacements from RECON on the "ground" in order to drop their numbers through attrition and thining (this process was repeated for surviving tanks). For targets of larger then seven tanks, decisions were to be made by command. Targets of fifteen battle tanks likely being struck if in close proximity. That meant that Aether had essentially just scrambled a banshee on the unit to carpet bomb the region in cluster bomb. When such a target was located, it was tracked and the general vacinity of the unit was guided to Aether Command, and when ETA time was in less then a minute, it was marked with an IR laser. The explosion from the mountain-top would be a majestic thing with a massive blast of dust and fire mixing with boulders blasted into the air and troops shot 10-15 feet through the sky in a parabolic arc in the region if they weren't killed. Then a massive boom like thunder would roll in the aftermath...

Artillery was taking on a different purpose though. While still guided by mountain top these units opened fire on the enemy front ranks or targets acquired for banshee strikes to "pin them down". It's goal was to slow the enemy down while still acting as a thinning unit. For smaller units that needed to just be broken up the artillery would open fire on the enemy closer to center (as guided by mountain soldiers) with shots following in quicker succession to "break them up" for easier eating). The units would move after firing several shots to avoid enemy return artillery fire.

This was about as much as they could do and their goal was to set up good ambushes or keep to the sands. They couldn't stop all enemy units, but they could harass them non-stop and thin them out... unless the enemy was travelling as a big thick hunk in which case it would come down to a lot of cruise missiles blowing up a LOT of units. They were however, limited to a total of 10 cruise missiles for this mission.

To the north, the fighters that had just returned were being refueled and emergency permission was asked from Raochin for some special air-to-ground munitions that could fit the planes but with a modern bang. They were to be used in... Yet another bombing run?!

In the meantime, the Aether Defense force flank gained the rewards of a powered up Aether Military force... and they were rolling with excitement. Progress also continued on the North front with entrenchments and fortifications along with equipment being set up constantly by the army there. They remained at high alert for air-units with a slightly higher percentage moving to anti-air at 60% then those to the East (Given the immidiate danger of the eastern foe that had yet to taste Aether Steel in the skies). The rest of the tanks maxed out artillery and ground strength as they would have some time with the forward men AND the Nod forces working to keep the enemy busy. Their naval defense units arrived and were being set up as this post was being made.

Even more of these same units were also being set up near Raochin and outward into sea... there were certainly a lot of them. They decided they would spook out the world a little... The Rebel Army escorting a ship in the region would notice submarine activity, but nothing dangerous to its present position... it either moved very fast or there was a second one too... it seemed to dissapear into the region near Raochin itself, which may have many suggestions given Raochins tunnel networks. Were they developing a naval fleet? These were however, completely limited to the Rebel Army for the time being, and the signature might have been a false reading after all. Below the waves though, sharks still remained and were unfed.

OOC: So a responce to the ground attack planes and some new stuff to play with! Have fun!

F-22 Raptors roared overhead Nod positions due west of the Nodic region and launched an all out rocket assault against antiaircraft positions. This wave was quickly followed about a lightning strike by F-35 Lightning IIs as they dropped bomb and bomb on the enemy mobile SAM sites.

[OOC: Aircraft were targeting antiaircraft SAM sites along the western flank of the Nod forces, if any. If there weren't any, assume that any fired rockets smacked into infantry lines instead of nonexistant SAM sites, naturally]

RCDF is monitoring the ground action through its satellites and the 2 Raptor UAVs. These composite frame stealth aircraft fly far above the reach of conventional jet fighters. They have negligible radar cross section, little thermal signature and no contrails. They were even optically camouflaged with optical sensors and LEDs to match the light level of surrounding sky.

In fact they were ghosts keeping watch over the sky.

Currently they are not giving these real time feed from over Aether to Somal but that may change soon.

The Dragon Empire has voted to move to protect its ally Somal and to intervene in this conflict. We know you do not have an aggression treaty with us, but we wanted to offer you the opportunity to help clean up this problem. Somal is under MDoAP with the Dragon Bloc.

-Anthony Davis

All requests by Somal of the Dragon Empire are granted. It's the middle of the night, the weather is clear.. part way through this conflict. From the east the citizens of Aether would start hearing the roar of engines but see nothing in the night sky. The first wave of bombers was approaching. The B2's dropped their ordinance.. targeting western Arabian Peninsual radar systems and command and control facilities with HARM type weapon systems used on the radards and JDAM guided missiles used against the control centers.

The wave behind it, a mix of F117s, F22s, and SU-47s came in engaging any scrambled/scrambling aircraft and dropping pave way munitions into the center of runways, hangars, and flight control towers. Though the Dragonisians lead the air force in, it was more than apparent that at least 4 nations under one banner were being represented. The Empire had entered its first major joint military operation. (ooc: And of course the other nations of the Empire have affirmed this action by voting for intervention in the legislature and I will ask them to affirm their role in the air strike here.)

The next wave of attacks came from the sea. Without a navy to interdict them, cargo merchant submarines that had been commandeered for military use showed up on the sea-shore. On board each of the tanker sized submarines was about 1/4 of a division of men, amphibious tanks and armor, and supplies. As they had done many times throughout history, the 60 submarines identified sandy spots where a gentle touch down was possible within 15 miles of the shore line. The crew mounted their amphibious vehicles.. got the air-recirculation systems operational.. confirmed and reconfirmed systems operations. Divers suited up to facilitate vehicle exit and to help trouble shoot problems in the water as they arose. Once all crews gave the green light, each of the subs would flood their cargo bays.. then open the noses of the submarines would unlock and pivot up. A ramp would slide out. "Lets hope they're busy on the other front." One of the tank commanders would chuckle.

The Sea Tyrant tanks and Water Dogs.. driven by propellers, fins on treads, and just their weight on the ground slowly pushed forward out into the murk.. and would soon becoming ashore on what they anticipated would be a lightly defended beach head. Most folks do not expect this kind of amphibious invasion, but you never know. All the same.. as they approached shore, periscopes came up to check the coastline for defenders and to start acquiring targets. As they left the water, the 120 MM cannons unsealed and began to pop shots at anything they considered a threat. They would not strike civilian targets and they would be careful to broadcast over loud speaker as they got into areas without combatants that they are there as liberators and that their stay is temporary and encourage citizens to take refuge.

"Pax Pacis is disgusted with the offensive actions undertaken by the Dragon Empire. Somal intiated the orginal offensive action and now the Dragon Empire moves to join the bandwagon. You claim for stability in Asia and yet you are ready to cause chaos in Africa. We now see your true side"

"We would like to point out to Pax Pacis that Somal is a member of the Dragon Bloc. The actions we are taking is based on a prior MDoAP and proper cassus belli does apply. We are simply protecting an ally acting to protect the citizens of Africa and the surrounding area. That is all."

"I see. They screw up and so the bigger boy has to step in. The Nation of Nod moved in to secure and protect nearby citizens that would be facing anarchy and encountered resistance from rogue enemy units. Somal reaslising it was going to miss out on some prime land invades and in the process attacks the Nation of Nod and now you do the same. We hope you never bring up your hypocritical idea of stability again".

"You're sending your propaganda to the wrong person. I suggest you direct it outwards."

Davis rolled his eyes.

"Propaganda is trying to turn points and view to lies to promote your or someone elses cause, we are just telling the truth".

No need to convince me, I agree completely. DE, Somal, and the rest should be condemned for their actions and should be given a stern talking to for this outrage.

I'm sure someone will get to it one of these days.

But I'll doubt it will be you.

RCAF is fully participating in the Oman offensive.

First strike will be launched by teh Royal Cochin Navy. The Cruiser Task Force shall fire its cruise missiles at pre targeted points.

A first strike by flight groups of electronic warfare fighters specially tasked to destroy enemy radars.

Then air neutralisation ops.

It occurs to Davis it'd be a wise idea to get overflight clearance from RA to reduce flight times and flight paths. He contacts RA and requests the use of Airspace for Military traffic. A little while later word comes back that the overflight clearance has been granted by Rebel Army. He directs the air strikes on the Arabian peninsula to continue with greater frequency and intensity now that there is a more direct path.

Airspace clearance grant document.

Many of the flights are now being directed out of Kingdom of Cochin.

OOC: 51 tech gives you third world technology vs. my 500 tech.

IC: Three Mig-35 fighters and 1 B-52 are lost. Electronic countermeasures, chaff, and other items keep the losses to a minimum. The Bomber's drop their loads of 1000 pound bombs on NODs larger population centers.

Molakia is extremely disheartened that Somal would feel it needed to kill civilians. Molakian Armed Forces are mobilized to Defcon 2 and are preparring to enter the Region to bring both sides to the peace tables.

If the world will sit and watch you people kill each other, Molakia will do something about it.

*super secret classified stuffs*

To Zarfef:

Heres a little help, I suggest you start producing your versions of these ASAP.

*produces specs for modern nation anti air guns and missiles. Then some modern aircraft(raptors)(I'll let Zarfef make his own designs and stuffs)*

I wish we could help you more, but this should be useful on its own.

OOC notes: I have 350 tech, modern nation so I have the ability to build raptors, and even if I didn't I still have raptors in game, so it would make sense I can build them here too.

And to SOM, where are you going to land your ships again? I should own all of the coast on the red sea after RA till Aether(I can find the thread where I said it if you need proof) and the only other land Nod might have gotten was near Djibouti, where Zarfef is current doing stuff. Seeing as I am not doing business with you till this is done, you could only land in RA peacefully.

"The Empire also condemns the attack on the Civillian centers and calls for its ally to be more selective about its targeting. We understand you're anti-colonial, but you don't need to kill innocent civilians along with their corrupt leadership."

We encourage Molakia to reconsider any action against our mutual defense partners because it would cause a state of direct conflict with the Empire. If they conduct such a raid again we will expel them from the Bloc and you may have at them. We will reign them in. We'll ask the commanders who ordered the raid be surrendered for war-crimes trials.

-Anthony Davis

If you hit another civilian population center with unguided munitions without good cause one more time you will be expelled from the Dragon Bloc. Please be more careful with your targeting and give due consideration to the value of life and the opinion of the global community. We will be needing you to turn over the ones who ordered the raid for war-crimes trials.

In response to the Dragon Empire's entry into the war, sabotage efforts were stpped up in Somal. Anything and everything that was a target would not be left alone. Airfields, the supply depots, communications' systems--and now they had no choice. It was time to consider assassinations as well. Starting with high military figures.

We Will not engage in warfare...yet. We are moving troops in to secure our personnel, provice NEUTRAL peacekeeping and provide services to civlians. We will only attack if Civilians are attacked or if we ourselves are. Molakia Troops are easy to spot and will smile and wave if not being attacked. Your people have nothing to fear.
