The Army of God

The Dragonisian Salvation Army came en masse.. aboard a flight of 777-200s, approximately 19 of them, cargo and personnel. They had outfitted the aircraft to act as mobile hospitals and were treating the entire country as if it were under quarantine.. meaning no one got on or left the plane without a scrub. Once they had landed, they moved to special parking areas where they would set up shop. As people departed the plane the first thing that was done was setting up "clean tents" around the aircraft in which to operate although the aircraft were outfitted that parts of the plane could even handle patients if necessary.

Each plane carried approximately 550 persons. Each person on the plane was either a doctor or a nurse many with specialized degrees in virology and pathogens. A few were clergy of the state Faith, Christianity, and were there purely for comforting. The Dragon Salvation Army had been formed as the emergency medical wing of the army, the government had paid hand over first to make sure these were the best trained and educated personnel they could find. In times of peace, when not mobilized, the complimented hospitals and clinics throughout their homeland. However, the health care system itself treated them as visitors, not actual personnel so that they were never short staffed if the army had to be mobilized. Additionally these personnel were also trained in military and diplomatic protocols.

The General of the Salvation Army exited Archangel Michael, which was the designation of the first B777 in the Army's fleet. Each B777 had a similar set of nomenclature. Where the apocalypse was, they would be there to fight the horsemen... and so now they landed in Hansa. A giant wooden cross was painted on the door and wings of each aircraft. They were armed with vaccines from the state bio-warfare vault. As soon as they were setup the General sent the request to the Hansa's ground managers at the airports..

"Give us your tired, your poor, your diseased masses yearning to breathe free of infectious disease.. and we shall give them rest and respite from this disaster."

Doctor Cecilia St. Claire had been working around the clock with the massive amounts of foreign aid that had been pouring into the city. Thanks to Aotearoan help almost immediately after the missiles were detonated a much larger casualty rate had been kept down. Along with the help of many, many other nations. However, the vast expenses of the Dragon Empire was something to bring tears to the eyes of Doctor St. Claire. The problem was now, not just keeping people healthy, but eradicating the illnesses from ever coming back. Lowering the amount of mass paranoia going throughout the country.

Cecilia walking up to the administrators of the Salvation Army smiled. "Excellency, thank you." Her hair was messy and she had the tired look on her face as many Hanseatic medics wore nowadays. "Please, as soon as you are able please, we have dispensing stations around the city to get most of the population now, safe from the possibility that the diseases may make a recurrence. You will be working along side of Hanseatics as myself, and Aotearoans that have arrived prior. This will be a great success for humanity as a whole and we have everything to thank you."

She turned and led the administrator, who in turn would no doubt lead his operatives to the various parts of Brisbane that needed direct attention. This kind of help was paramount, if the Hansa was to return to its previous state of a nation among the other peoples of the world.

What Cecillia would come to realize is that the Salvation army's approach was very systematic. They took what they could transport and even as they moved out towards their location.. as they encountered the ill.. they stopped to treat them. It was like they were fighting a ground war against an unseen enemy.. and the citizens of Hansea were the miles they needed to conquer. They were very aggressive, going door to door. Every second, every hour was treated as critical. With that many staff, doing simple vaccinations could clear an entire city in a few hours work.

The General, Dr. Edmond Sinclair, would respond, "M'lady. We are doing our duty we owe to our fellow man and God, no more no less. We appreciate the gratitude but need nothing in return. The only thing we ask is you show the same kindness to others in whatever way your nation and yourself can."

Cecelia smiled. "Its the only thing we Hanseatics know of General and I'm sure the Lady Protector would approve fully with your mission. Its a blessing, it really is. We've given so much to other nations that it is a great feeling to know that people care about us in return. And I know for a fact that if anything comes ill to the Dragon Empire, the Hansa will be there for you." She extended her hands. "Its a shame that its in these situations that people really understand how important life is, but its good that it is done at least. That people can get along. But if there's anything that your people need, you know where to find us. Also before you leave, Her Ladyship did request an audience to personally thank you. If you would do her the honor."

"Duty before pleasure. I will attend, but only once my job is done." He would reply. "I have a lot to coordinate." In fact there was a large mobile think pad in his hand and he kept using a stylus to direct service personnel to areas of critical importance. "We've identified an Aerosolized Anthrax cell 4 blocks south. we're going to institute a quarantine and set up a treatment facility adjacent. Unfortunately we are expecting a high casualty rate. I'm going to allocate some vacuum sealed body bags. We may have to let that one run its course. Based on historic precedent, even with anti-microbial treatment we can expect 45% fatality rate. Let's hope it's not ST-1 or we can expect a 90% fatality rate. We may have to condemn that block.. at the minimum it will need either scrubbed or torched."

The map he was looking at appeared to be the same kind generals of war actually used to fight a human enemy.. all sorts of little icons each representing a different disease codified and taught to their command hierarchy. Each platoon of doctors had a similar pad to receive orders and not responses and they operated via a communications satellite and/or organize wi-fi where the think pads were in close proximity.

"I've never seen anywhere quite this bad since our trip through Neo Taiwan.. at least its' not as depressing. The Black Wind was so horrifying there was practically nothing that could be done about any of it. We can actually do something here."
