Connors
Episode I - The Empire Strikes Back Inaugural Empire Day Edition Introduction and Editors Comments I must say that I never thought this day would come again, but here I am happily sitting here, waiting for an exam and writing an editorial for a new, revived, Iron Will. For those who have never head of it, Iron Will was, for three issues, the official newsletter of the Imperial Assault Alliance. Now that the IAA is back, the Grand Moff, Phoenix_Rising, and the Emperor, the Chimney himself, have given me permission to restart this grand publication. Yay. This week we have an issue mainly comprising of speeches. Of the epic kind. To start off the issue, we have an address from the Emperor himself on the subject of Imperial aoreign affairs. And, oh yes, we also have a discourse by Acheron, our Imperial Security Bureau Director. He has given me a cracking speech. It's very well well written, and quite inspiring. We also have the first chapter of the Imperial Chronicles, written by myself, also the Imperial Historian and will be a regular feature. Last but not least, is an interview with the man himself, the Emperor and an exclusive discussion on Imperial Foreign Affairs by His Majesty. Enjoy! - Connors Contents 1. A Short Discussion of Imperial Foreign Affairs by His Majesty, the Emperor Chimaera 2. A New Era of Empire by Acheron, Director of the Imperial Security Bureau 3. Reformation and Empire Day by Connors, Chief Editor of the Iron Will, COMPNOR Chief Historian 4. An Interview with the Emperor, by Connors, Chief Editor of the Iron Will, COMPNOR Chief Historian 1. A Short Discussion of Imperial Foreign Affairs - By His Majesty, the Emperor Chimaera Just twelve short days ago, the Imperial Assault Alliance officially refounded upon our war-stricken world, a happily momentous announcement which, so unlike the majority of the OWF, had nothing to do with nuclear warheads and anarchies. We made three announcements that night - our reformation and two MDoAPs, one with the great people at LoSS and one with our beloved FireGuy's alliance, IPA. A few days later, and we've signed two more defensive pacts - one with Athens, who in my own estimation are some of the most honorable and decent people in the plethora of alliances out there, and our reestablished "Kitty Cats Can Use the Force, Too!" MDP with GATO, a treaty IAA has lived (and died) by for almost three years. Yesterday, Connors asked me to write up a piece regarding the state of the Empire's foreign affairs. So, that's what this is about. Basically, IAA has one major policy when it comes to potential allies: who do we best get along with? If you're cool and you enjoy hanging out with us, chances are you're going to end up an Imperial ally unless your alliance is just a bunch of tools (no offense to TOOL, <3). IAA has first and foremost been an alliance whose first major goal is to enjoy hanging out together, and that policy extends to our foreign affairs. You'll never see an IAA treaty that is signed only to offer a strategic advantage or some other petty political pandering - that's not how we work. We affix our signatures to documents that are the real deal, treaties and papers that are a physical (or, I suppose, digital) manifestation of friendships we value highly enough to sacrifice our pixels for them. It's a policy that I pretty much hang my hat on as Emperor, a policy that I believe ensures that no treaty will ever be cancelled on IAA for, as TOP so eloquently put it, us viewing our allies as only a strategic entity instead of a true friendship or alliance. So why am I coming before you guys on the OWF and typing these words? Hell, I don't even really know that myself. It's not as if an alliance leader is ever taken at his word alone in this day and time on Planet Bob, and I fully expect you to pretty much just say I'm full of crap and just like everyone else. That's a very quantified and pervasive mindset on this forum, because, let's face it, pretty much every other announcement posted involves some sort of distortion of the truth or otherwise cleverly (or not) disguised lie. There have been maybe a dozen CB's during over the past few years where the reasons stated were the whole and complete truth, and probably even fewer treaty cancellations that weren't because of "drifting apart" between the two alliances. So I guess you're all perfectly legitimized if you don't believe IAA's different than everyone else, but, well, all I can say is you should ask our four allies in Athens, GATO, IPA and last (and least, certainly) LoSS about how we've treated them. I would hope they'd all say they believe we'd die for them, because that's how I feel. Anyway, the gist of this is: want allies like our Empire? Come to #iaa and strike up a chat - we always enjoy meeting new friends! -Chimaera 2. A New Era of Empire - By Acheron, Director of the Imperial Security Bureau My fellow Imperials, It is this day we have yearned for. It is this day, this Empire Day, we are acquitted of the wrongful fate we have endured. It is this day we stand united and justified in our cause. It is this day our Empire, so long laid dormant by those who wished us nothing but chaos and discontent, will rise again from the ashes of the past, and usher in a new reign of order, peace, and stability to all those whom are touched by her glory. When we first arose so many years past, we beheld before us a new creation, an alliance born of the everlasting principles of Order and Peace, of Dedication and Individuality, united in a common effort to ensure the harmony and prosperity of they who hold these principles steadfast to their bosom, and took heart in the lessons learned in their preservation. Nearly a year ago, our dreams, our ambitions, were laid low by the tyrants and madmen who desired us dead, beaten to unrecognizable ends, and vanquished to the winds. Such, as it were, was our fate. Or so they thought. Our enemies failed to realize that the crucial, central, vital heart of the Empire was not clothed in garbs or armor, or bore weapons of war, or was made of that which the world around us is shaped and molded. They failed to realize, in their ignorant blood-lust, that ideas, ambitions, dreams, are bulletproof. We now stand on the very cusp of history’s wake, beholden to the glorious future that stretches out before the Empire’s promise. We stand united, stronger, wiser than we left nearly a year ago. Our day of long desired victory and triumph has come, and at no less an opportunistic time. Our dedicated foreign affairs operatives, headed by our benevolent Regent, have taken the first steps to showing the Empire's hand anew in the world of external affairs, prompting those who have swept us aside in the past that the Empire does not tire or give to struggle. To the contrary, our nature relishes it, learning from its lessons, and surpassing it. Within the very heart of the Empire, working with a steadfast resolve and unshakable determination, our vigilant and steadfast Security Bureau labors tirelessly in ensuring the Imperial superstructure does not falter under the strain of its own greatness, but rather accommodates it. With an on-going Imperial Census logging the new arrivals to the Empire, recruitment bolstered by the valiant efforts of our beloved Emperor, Chimaera, as well as new mediums of information and exposure being developed as we speak, all under way, for the betterment of our glorious alliance, will bring us new found organization and stability so that the cause of the Empire may yet reach its true, glorious potential. I will, however, remind you of this one poignant fact: this is merely the first step in the ever-revealing story of our alliance. I will not lie to you, friends. The road will be hard, and difficult, wrought with crags and valleys that may impede our advancement forward. However, I know that in the years I have been involved with the Empire's cause, I have seen that you are more than up to the challenge of surmounting those obstacles, of conquering those enemies, of vanquishing those who oppose our righteous cause. And it is by this iron will, this irresistible power we possess, order will arise. There will be order through power. An order, sparked by the unity of our alliance, a unity that is in turn bound by those sacred principles we are founded upon: honor, discipline, strength, loyalty, valor, and freedom. You, members of the IAA, are extensions of that power, its lightning so to speak. We must be as one; we must be an iron fist, ready to crush all those who oppose us. We will rise up triumphant from our baptism by fire, and reveal our true abilities. As one, we cannot fail. Together, we will be undefeated! We will be victorious in every sector, in every system, on every world, and on every battlefield. From the cold fringes of the Outer Rim, to the warm heart of Coruscant and the Core, we will not be denied our birthright, we will not be denied what is rightfully ours - victory. We WILL be triumphant. We WILL arise again greater than ever before. And with that, I say to you this: strike swiftly, strike hard my Imperial brothers! Illuminate the battlefield with your valor! This is the NEW ERA, and YOU are its BRIGHTEST LIGHTS! God save the Emperor, and Empire Prevails! Acheron, Director of the Imperial Security Bureau 2. Reformation and Empire Day By Connors, Chief Editor of the Iron Will, COMPNOR Chief Historian On the 13th May 2008, almost a year since the Imperial Assault Empire retreated into exile, the Empire rose again. Against a backdrop of global nuclear war, a number of ex-IAAers and new members came together from a myriad of alliances to reform the Empire. With Chimaera at the helm as life Emperor and an all-star Ruling Council of steady and experienced hands the return was announced on the CyberNations forums. Despite the bitter enemies that the Empire left once had, the response was largely hopeful and positive. Ambassadors were soon dispatched by the Imperial Regent of the time, Schecterville, seeking diplomatic links with allies, new and old. Under Grand Admiral MercyFallout and Rear Admiral AoD the Imperial Fleet was reorganised and began to prepare the Fleet of this burgeoning Empire for the future, and all the hazards that it might hold. Grand Moff Phoenix Rising and the Director of the ISB, Acheron, began to build the infrastructure of governance. The Chairman of the Galactic Reserve, Rebirth and his worthy Deputy, JMKeynes, prepared the finance of the the Empire and began to organise measures to help growth. Finally, Grand Vizer Mathias stood ready to resolve disputes in the Empire. and use his experienced hand to help guide the Empire. The Empire was not alone either, having formed close links with LoSS and IPA. These bonds of mutual defence and aggression would prove to be strong and virtuous in the future. Other alliances too, those that had been allies and enemies, began establishing new and amicable relations. The Empire would not greet the future alone, far from it. The future and all it's hopes and dreams awaited the citizens of the Empire. 3. An Interview with the Emperor By Connors, Chief Editor of the Iron Will, COMPNOR Chief Historian So, tell us about yourself Myself? Oh, that's a hard one. I'm Chimaera, and IRL I'm a junior at the University of Kentucky. In CN, I'm some sort of troll that people hate, who happens to be fortunate enough to be Emperor of the Imperial Assault Alliance, both our new incarnation and the previous IAA. I'm a pretty nice guy (or so I think), and I do my best to be an honourable and just Emperor. I'm really not out for that big of a world domination thing, I'd rather just grow IAA in peace with some friends, and maybe shoot some nukes off now and then. It's been a long time since the IAA disbanded, how will you react to the changing political climate? Well, since most of us have still been playing CN over the year we've been gone, we've made friends throughout CN, and I'm really hoping to carry those relationships over into alliance-wide form with IAA2. We have a good reputation already as being steadfast allies who would die (quite literally, in fact) for our friends, and it's been a huge boost in getting our FA off the ground. I can definitely say that our allies as of right now are some of the finest alliances in the game. Where do you see the IAA going? Good question. I really would like us to become as potent and powerful as we have the talent to be-our government and leadership are some of the finest minds in CN, and in a CN where we won't have to live in perpetual fear just because we're unwilling to abandon our friends and allies, I believe that IAA2 can accomplish things that our first incarnation never even approached. What is your message to those the IAA were formerly enemies with? We're not interested in instigating old wounds. IAA didn't leave CN on great terms with quite a few alliances, but that's not the way we're approaching our revival. We're not coming in to kick anyone while they're down. We'd like to be amiable to everyone, if possible. Will you be renewing old friendships? Absolutely. Our old allies were some of the finest people on CN, and IAA's not the sort of people who sign treaties based on an alliance's size. We're pretty loyal to those who treat us well, and most of those guys have been nothing but fantastic to us during the reformation process. Where do you see the IAA in a year from now? Oh, I don't know. I'd like a couple hundred members and a few million NS, sure (who wouldn't), but my biggest dream for IAA is that we have a solid core group of friends and allies who we enjoy playing CN alongside, and we've helped our old foes put away old grudges and work together for a brighter future. Except for Valhalla, because I still haven't nuked CJ yet. Kidding, mostly. Why join the IAA of all alliances? Basically, because we try to stand for everything that is right with CyberNations. If you join IAA, you have a say in how your alliance is run, who your friends are, and what actions your government takes. If you join IAA, you know you'll never back down from a fight. If you join IAA, you know you'll never abandon a friend in need. If those are some of the characteristics you value in an alliance, then IAA could damn well be a good home for you. Besides, we have gorgeous forums and a 1500 game arcade. Finally, in the Soviet Union, does the IAA really assault you? That depends. Occasionally it's just a minor assault, like a surprise buttsecksing from Schecterville, but sometimes an entire battle group of Star Destroyers will pop out of nowhere over Siberia and turn a whole area of Russia from permafrost to glass just for kicks. If I gave the secrets away, they wouldn't be secrets.
