WorkingClassRuler
On May 11th, 2001, a great writer and an awesome man departed this mostly harmless planet. Douglas Adams, creator of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, was an intelligent, thoughtful and outright hilarious writer, without whom our lives would have been significantly less funny. We owe our namesake, our theme, our very spirit to Adams and the works he created. Today, hitchhikers around the world are remembering this great man by proudly showing off the one thing everybody should have with them all the time - their towel. Please join us in dedicating this day to the man whom gave us our identity, and whose writing enriched many of our lives. You can Show Us Your Towel, or play some fun Hitchhikers games and competitions, or hang out with us on IRC (#mha) as we give thanks and drink many, many, many Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters to a great writer and dedicated conservationist. So grab your towel, and come celebrate Towel Day MHAil o/ Douglas Adams

Bad JuJu
My towel is pretty torn up and abused. I think I shall use this occasion to go to Walmart and get a new one. I found this nice watermelon themed unit for the low rollback price of $11.96. I think I will get it. Mrs. JuJu and I simply adore watermelons. David Merton
I have a towel for each color of the rainbow plus several black ones. After all, you never know when you'll have to dry off, dress a wound, signal a rescue ship and ward off the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal all at the same time. Anyway, if you want to party with the hoopiest froods in the galaxy, drop on by our forums or IRC chat and join the fun. B)
Il Principe
Now get your towel and your copy of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and join the party. p.s. the reading of Vogon poetry is strictly forbidden on every single party in the universe, except ofcourse the marvellous deadly parties of the Ziggawitsisch on the planet Alpha Prime. The succes of those parties is mostly measured by the body count.

Azrael Alexander
I have a Towlie Towel. Its a holy relic or something. "A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value - you can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapours; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a mini raft down the slow heavy river Moth; wet it for use in hand-to- hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or to avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (a mindboggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you - daft as a bush, but very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitch hiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitch hiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitch hiker might accidentally have "lost". What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is is clearly a man to be reckoned with." o/ peace on towel day
