VNN: Vaule announces the formation of a special unit Treize Specials

Today the President unveiled plans to form a new unit within Vaule’s military called the “Treize Specials”. This new unit will operate under the direct command of Lt. Gen. Une and is expected to be one of the highest paid units in the Vaulian Armed Forces. The Treize Specials unit will initially start out as a single unit, but will expand as the need arises.

This new elite unit is highly selective of its membership and does not permit members of the armed forces to apply to join. The unit and its commanding officers will monitor various divisions of the Army, Navy and Air Force and will take note of the soldiers with the most potential and ability. Only the best of the best will be selected to undergo the arduous and extremely challenging training program lasting for an entire year.

The soldiers who complete the training program successfully will be put forward for consideration to join the ranks of the Specials. Only the best of the trainees will be accepted into the ranks of the Specials and will be permitted to have full membership in the organization. Membership in the Specials organization is divided into eight different ranks, determined by merit and skill rather than only on experience and time served in the military.

The government and the military has been tight lipped about the extent of training that soldiers selected for the Specials training program will undergo, however it has been said that the training is designed to separate soldiers based on their abilities, by pushing them to their limits and determining how they handle a variety of situations. The government has stated that the training program seeks to create “an elite, highly trained unit of soldiers who are able to carry out specialized operations requiring tactical and combat ability above the level in the current army”.

In other news, the government has voted to merge the positions of Defense Minister and Commander of the Armed Forces into a single military-based position. This would mean that the Defense Minister would no longer be a civilian member of government, but would be required to have military experience. The military also confirmed the promotion of Lt. General Une, current Defense Minister, to full General and the promotion of Foreign Minister Lt. Kharkov to Lt. Colonel.
