loannes
The Drakorian government is pleased to announce that the southernmost regions of Drakoria's protectorate area has applied to join the nation. After a series of urban and rural skirmishes with Dagestan Militias, the Drakorian military was able to obtain a surrender from the somewhat-united organizations. The militants surrendered at around noon on May 22, 2009. As such, a sturdy local government was able to be set up in that region and others. The Senate voted unanimously to admit the regions of North Ossetia, Dagestan, Chechnya, Ingushetia, Karachai-Cherkessia, and Kabardino-Balkaria into the Republic of Drakoria. With the additions of Azerbaijan and these six regions, the Senate has been updated, and the number of senators per region is shown below. Georgia: 55 Armenia: 45 Azerbaijan: 15 North Ossetia: 5 Dagestan: 10 Chechnya: 5 Ingushetia: 5 Karachai-Cherkessia: 5 Kabardino-Balkaria: 5 Total: 150 The President and Senate agreed that, in order to maintain a small government, new regions will not be represented by large numbers of senators, unless they are of considerable population. Here is a map of Drakoria and her protectorates. Drakoria is in brown, and protectorates in dark gray. The other areas are not part of Drakoria (shown are Greater Nordic Reich, Rebel Army, and Nordic protectorates)

Mergerberger II
It is curious that Azerbaijan gets so few representatives when they make up the majority of your population, have double the population of Georgia, and nearly triple the population of Armenia. Why is this?

loannes
OOC: Lawn mower broke, have about 10 minutes IC: Following a notification from foreign powers, the Drakorian government has established a new formula for the Senate that will greatly decrease the government's size and more fairly represent Drakoria's states. Each state gets a base of two Senators, plus one per every 500,000 citizens. Some will be rounded up for fairness to that state. New Senate stats are shown below. Region: Population, Senators Azerbaijan: 8.6 million, 19 Armenia: 3.2 million, 8 Georgia: 4.7 million, 12 Chechnya: 1.2 million, 4 North Ossetia: 700,000, 3 Dagestan: 2.5 million, 7 Ingushetia: 467,000, 3 Karachay-Cherkessia: 440,000, 3 Kabardino-Balkaria: 900,000, 4 Total: 63 After objections from the states that the power was now vested in too few, the Senate agreed to give the states the power to vote to nullify unconstitutional laws. If 2/3 states vote in favor of nullification, the law is considered null and void.
