loannes
For months, rioting had torn the areas of Armenia and Georgia. Reasons for riots tended to be poor, ranging from a simple blackout to the increased price of meat. As a result, the nation of Rebel Army allowed these areas independence, and the local government established the Libertarian Republic of Drakoria. The new government faced the task of quelling the riots and rebuilding the cities. After days of combat between Drakorian riot police and the rioters, the chaos ended, and the nation of Drakoria began the process of cleaning and rebuilding their lands. A Constitution was written, strictly outlining the powers of the national government and filling all possible loopholes the government could use. Rebuilding is underway, and, thanks to the vigorous efforts of the people, should be completed shortly. (Lavo 2 of Rebel Army has agreed to cede Armenia and Georgia to me.) Lavo
The RA confirms that the people of Drakoria are now their own independent state. Further more, if Drakoria is unjustly invaded within the next month (1 RL month), they will be greeted by the RA with some warm lead. loannes
Drakoria thanks RA for it's protection. As Drakorian Reconstruction is completed, a temporary government will be in place. On June 14, elections will be held to establish the First National Government of the Libertarian Republic of Drakoria. President: Jason Robert Drake Vice President: Henry John Fredericks Director of Defense: Leonard William Grant Director of the State: Alexander Hanson Director of Legal Cases: Conrad Hanns Speaker of the Senate: Ronald Troy Thompson The President is the executive of Drakoria, charged with appointing diplomats and generals, approving or denying Senate bills, and leading the Drakorian Armed Forces in the event of a domestic invasion. The Vice President is the president's successor. Should the president die, the VP will assume his responsibilities. The Director of Defense is the leader of the Drakorian Armed Forces if there is an offensive war or if an ally is attacked. However, as he cannot be everywhere at once, he and the president must carefully select generals to lead the military. The Director of the State is the president's chief advisor on diplomats and foreign affairs, and will occasionally serve as a diplomat himself. The Director of Legal Cases is charged with representing the government on lawsuits and such against the national government. The Speaker of the Senate is the second in line to receive the office of president after the president's death, assuming the vice president dies. He/she is also in charge of directing the focus of the Senate, but can be overriden by a majority vote of the Senators. At this time, there are a total of 100 Senators, which makes up the legislative body. President Drake is expected to make a speech regarding reconstruction shortly. loannes
A crowd was gathered in the city of Tbilisi, clutching small Drakorian flags. Each of these displayed the coat of arms of Germany, to show the Germanic heritage of most Drakorians, despite their far-off location. A large Drakorian flag hung from the new capitol building. A podium had been positioned near the end of a stage set up about a hundred feet from the capitol. Drakorian President Jason R. Drake looked out the door of the capitol, taking a deep breath. He could hear the chatter of the Drakorian people outside, waiting for their president to come out. Vice President Henry J. Fredericks nodded to him. "Four o'clock. It's time." Jason nodded back, adjusted his tie, and walked out. As soon as he entered the sunlight, the attending audience roared with approval, the flags now waving frantically. Jason smiled, waving and shaking hands as he walked out. Arriving at the podium, he waited for a moment, allowing the gathering to quiet. When they did, he cleared his throat, then rubbed his right arm. "Ouch, my arm's sore. If anyone's ever wanted to know how most politicians are thin, it's because of the excercise from handshakes." The audience chuckled. "Anyway. I've come before you today to lay out the time frame for reconstruction. The riots have severely damaged the cities, and left several dead. Fortunately, we have an eager and reliable workforce. You." He paused and stared at the crowd. "If every Drakorian does their part, we can expect a speedy recovery. "Now, first I would like to clarify; since the area known as Drakoria was in anarchy before a government was able to take charge, and also since Drakoria was not in existence, any crimes damaging public property are hereby pardoned. However, damages to personal property can be taken to court if enough evidence is provided. And for moral reasons, every single death will be investigated, and the murderers put to justice. "Reconstruction will start with the repairs of vital buildings, such as schools, hospitals, military bases, police and fire stations, and the likes. At the same time, we will attempt to treat any rural land that was damaged by far-off riots, for it is our farmers who provide food, the basis of a nation, and as such must be respected and helped quickly. "Another clarifier: the national government will only become involved at the request of the State Governments in Armenia and Georgia. We will not spend needlessly, and we will not expand ourselves to the position of lords and masters of Drakoria. We will give a startup fund of $250,000 to each state, and when a request is received for more funds, we will go through and only send enough to cover highly needed operations. "After vital buildings and rural lands are restored, work must begin on secondary, public buildings. These include parks, government housing buildings, etc." He paused again, then continued. "This will not be necessarily done in order. It will be done in priority levels. Schools and hopsitals are Priority One, and parks are Priority Two. State officials will guide the volunteer work force. "Private businesses will not be given government funds. These are, as their name states, private businesses. If they need more money, they can apply for a loan from the Banks of Georgia and Banks of Armenia. "And on the subject of banks, let me dispel a rumor I have heard of; Drakoria will not establish a centralized bank. Such can only end in pain and suffering. So any rumors you heard about the Bank of Drakoria, dismiss them. "We are small, and insignificant by most standards, but we are determined, and we are strong in mentality. Reconstruction is our first step. We must overcome it!" His speech ended, and the crowd cheered at the last part. Jason smiled for a short time, then returned to the capitol, waving as he left. loannes
Drakorian Political Parties Already, parties have been formed in the Libertarian Republic of Drakoria. Their influence has yet to be decided, but all are vying for support in the upcoming. Libertarian Conservative Party The Libertarian Party is the first political party to be created. The leader of the party is President Jason R. Drake. The Libertarians support a strictly limited national government and free trade. They are, for the most part, non-interventionists. They feel that Drakoria should not be involved in a war due to a scrap of paper. They prefer to base intervention on the validity of the cassus belli, their relations, and other factors. They oppose aggressive wars unless Drakoria is threatened. They seek strong national defense. Libertarian Conservatives want maximum personal freedom for citizens, and oppose national government interference. They believe the states should handle their local issues without the national government hanging over them. On immigration, they feel that immigrants need to file for rights to migrate, and support immediate deportation of illegal aliens. The temporary Drakorian Senate is 84% Libertarian Conservative. Notable Libertarian Conservatives: President Jason R. Drake, Vice President Henry J. Fredericks, Director of Defense Leonard W. Grant, Speaker of the Senate Ronald T. Thompson Nationalist Party The Nationalist Party was the second political party. They are led by Director of Legal Cases Conrad Hanns. In a nutshell, they believe everything that can make Drakoria stronger should be done. They favor extensive expansion, a strong military, and strict immigration laws. They are on the center of the right wing, and as such support a firm, but not powerful, national government. They oppose government control of the economy and invasions on personal freedom. The Drakorian Senate is 9% Nationalist. Notable Nationalists: Director of Legal Cases Conrad Hanns Socialist Party The Drakorian Socialist Party is a traditional socialist party. They are led by Sean Harrison, a legislator in the Armenian State Government. They have minor support from the Senators, but not enough for impact. They favor moderate government control of the economy, trade restrictions, and a strong national government. They feel that the states, as a part of Drakoria, should be second to Drakoria. They oppose and fear the free market, and oppose strengthening local government. The Senate is 3% Socialist. Notable Socialists: State Legislator Sean Harrison Communist Party The Communist Party of Drakoria is a small group of hardline Communists, led by a legislator in Georgia named George O'Connel. Their support at the national level is extremely low. The party supports full government control of the economy, a powerful national government, extreme tariffs on trade, minimal contact with foreign nations, and the spread of their ideology to neighboring lands. Their extreme ideals are too much for the Drakorian people, and as such, they are unpopular. No Communist is in the Senate at this time. Notable Communists: George O'Connel Centrist Party The Centrist Party is one of the only organized centrist groups. They're led by Director of the State Alexander Hanson. They criticize the other parties for being extreme on the right or left. The Centrists tend to revolve around an equal state-national government split. The Centrist Party is somewhat ranged, with some favoring slight right or left wing views, or a mix of the two, and as such, the policy depends on the people running. Their lack of a definite stance makes them unpredictable, and as such, they lack a body of loyal voters. Notable Centrists: Director of the State Alexander Hanson
