The Galactic Gazette

Recommended Posts

Greetings leaders of Planet Bob, it is with great pleasure that I present to you the first of many forthcoming editions of The Galactic Republic's Galactic Gazette. My staff and I have invested many hours into the creation and perfection of the news publication you see before you. The stories included will hopefully give you, the reader, a brief window into what has happened in TGR of late and how we view the world. This first edition has been in the works for longer than I would have liked as my staff seemed to change weekly, but never the less, it is here. The Gazette will be coming out at least on a monthly basis, however if there is enough news going on the frequency may increase. In short, this will put the periodic in periodical ;)

With great thanks to Biohazard, Braganza (and myself) for writing and to Conebone of the NSO and the TGR government for submitting to interviews, I present to you our First Edition.

Here Comes the Future

TGR, NSO, and the Brown Sphere

By Flyingscotsman

Recently I sat down with the New Sith Order’s Master Marauder for Peace, Conebone, to discuss the ‘Ordinance of the Force’ the Mutual Defense Pact that binds NSO and TGR. We discussed a range of topics; first among them was precisely why and how NSO and TGR came to hold such a close friendship. From what Conebone called a deep respect for Cheyenne and other members of the alliance sprung a tiny sapling. Nurtured by the mutual respect these two alliances share this tiny and fragile sapling has grown over the past months to be come a healthy and vibrant tree, indicative of the energy and effort that has been invested by both parties into this now strong and resolute friendship. Taking a gaze into the future there seems to be little that can come in the way of this friendship of the force. Members of both NSO and TGR government have informed this publication that the two alliances share a very strong bond, even partaking in joint RP activities to better introduce each other to the general membership of their alliances.

Since their inception the NSO has always been surrounded by that almost electrical feeling that confidence, determination, and clarity seems to create around an alliance. One cannot help but feel that NSO has every intention of making an indelible mark upon the face of Planet Bob. Many wonder though, what sort of mark is it that they wish to create?

Controversy, be it real or oftentimes contrived, seems to follow these Sith wherever they go. When Ivan Moldavi first declared the New Order’s inception he brought the politics of Bob to a screeching halt. Many were overcome with joy and adulation for the return of Mr. Moldavi; many speculated on a possible NSO-NPO War after NSO began accepting nations sentenced to ZI. The decision by Ivan Moldavi to settle his New Order on the Brown sphere, long considered a political backwater and as Conebone so aptly put it “the joke of CN,” caught many in the international community by complete surprise. No sooner had NSO formed than a vocal few began denouncing the NSO for harboring some dark and evil plan for the domination and Pacificanization of the sphere.

The actual motives of the NSO are much different however. The NSO sees a brown sphere lacking in many of the qualities that are shared by more successful spheres. The Brown sphere, according to the NSO, “is a mess. They were hurting in terms of members, strength”, and existing with only a rudimentary political organization under the Amber Accords. Never ones to shy away from a challenge, the NSO has decided to commit itself fully to the task of “reviving the color and bringing a new life to it” and they have made great strides already in achieving this goal. Thanks to NSO a new level of political organization has been introduced through the creation of the Terra-Cotta Pact, a Brown Sphere Mutual Defense Block. Though the TCP has “met a few snags” NSO remains committed to working with their friends on Brown to restore the sphere to its former glory.

MEET THE GOVERNMENT

Savethecheerleader, TGR's Resident Money Honey

Hello, I'm savethecheerleader. I'm the Chairman of the Intergalactic Banking Clan here at the Republic. Any TGR economic matters- trade circles, tech deals, and finance programs in particular- are run by yours truly. As you can imagine, a new alliance with such an abundance of young nations keeps me busy :)

Jaym, the one who gets us fresh meat...er...members. Also Vice-Chair

Greetings. My name is Jaym, and I'm the Grand Jedi Master(Minister of Internal Affairs) of The Galactic Republic. I enjoy long walks on the beach, and holding hands while watching the sun go down. Previous to the founding of The Galactic Republic I resided in Polaris, which was where I had spent my entire Cybernations career. Burger is my foil, and you are free to eat him if you wish.

PrincessRo, The Queen of Scripts

Hello, I'm Princess Ro, current Senate Prefect. I'm the former Queen of Xanadu (among other formers--2 1/2 years of CN leads to that), and pushed for a merge with TGR because I could not imagine a better group of people to work with. The Star Wars theme is fun as well, but I'm confident that some of CN's best leaders reside in this alliance, and there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be.

Flyingscotsman, TGR's resident e-lawyer and Treaty Man

Hi there, Im Flyingscotsman, TGR's High Envoy (MoFA). I have been in more than my fair share of alliances over my 1.5ish years on Planet Bob but TGR seems to have captivated me somehow. The people here are great and serving in government here is a joy. I have served in various positions in various alliances and I am experienced in matters of diplomacy, war, and economics. I initially joined TGR as a member of the Senatorial Council after I merged my alliance into this place and I am overjoyed to finally be returning to my home in Foreign Affairs

Ruh-Ro Its Xanadu!

Work contributed by Braganza and Biohazard

Somewhat old news now, most people know that the Xanadu merger was a key part in TGR's current and past history. Many members on both sides knew that it was a possibility, from being in the private IRC channels, but not all the members knew the major reasoning behind the merger: why was the merger suggested, and what was going on in the leader's minds at the time. So, with Cheyenne being unavailable, I interviewed the next best source: Princess Ro.

Before we get to the merger, let's get some backstory on Xanadu: A semi-small alliances with many large nations. Initially, Xanadu was a combination of nations from SPAAA and HRE. A lot of alliances were attracted to Xanadu, and many merger offers approached the government. They considered them, but weren't exactly too excited about the ideas. It wasn't until Ro met Cheyenne, randomly, in #ACF@coldfront, and they began to talk. The idea was proposed by Cheyenne, and Ro, after some talking with the Government to persuade them, agreed that the merger would be a good idea.

Now, if you're not asking this, I sure as hell am: What made Ro pick TGR over the numerous other offers that Xanadu received? Well, I decide to inquire about that, and the reason is surprisingly, a simple one: Cheyenne and Ro got along well. Their ideals and ideas about alliances, how they should be run, and so on, were strikingly similar to one another. This sealed the deal: After about a week or so of discussing the merger, on March 20th, Xanadu officially merged into TGR, doubling the alliance NS and Score in a matter of hours.

I for one, as a Reporter for the Galactic Gazette, and a member of the Galactic Republic, love the new Xanadu members, and welcome them with open arms, to the Republic.

Good to see another publication beside TWiP, The Tattler, and Trashcat's Corner. Good luck to my new found competition ;)

I wouldnt go so far as to call us competitors, we're just keeping Planet Bob informed in... different ways. If you want competition we've got a few opinion pieces sitting around that I could always throw out here ;)

I do enjoy reading Trashcat's Corner, one of the reasons I still wade through the innumerable threads on this place. Good luck with the futue editions
