Hello Chairman,

As you know the repairing and refurbishing of the Naval Base at Ratnagiri is now complete. The work was completed ahead of schedule mainly due to the extensive cooperation offered by your nation.

Hence we are planning to conduct a formal commissioning of the Base. Since it is your real estate The Kingdom of Cochin seeks the approval of Dragonisia for conducting the ceremony.

We are planning to do the commissioning on May 17 and it shall be attended by the Cochin Royal Family and principal durbar members. I am also planning to invite some of our mutual friends to this occasion.

After the formal commissioning there shall be a Royal Fleet Review of the ships of Royal Cochin Navy and we shall be very happy if contingents from Dragonisian Navy also participated.

I hope you shall find this acceptable.

Thanking You,

Sd,

Rama Varma,

The King of Cochin.

Greetings your Majesty,

I hope these communications find you well. I would be more than delighted to permit your navy this ceremony and will also attend. The Military Transport Submarine Leviathan will be assigned to display at your ceremony, as most of our navy is consistent of remote controlled vehicles. However, to make it look ferocious, several of the missiles in question will magnetically attatch themselves to the side of the submarine before surfacing for the exercise so folks can get an idea of how they work. The sub should be bristling with missiles at it comes to the surface. The brown water navy PT Missile Boats shall also watch from nearby. We'll also schedule an air show for the event.

I hope you find this agreeable. I look forward to reviewing your ships.

Regards and best wishes,

Chairman Maelstrom

The Naval Air Station Ratnagiri is seeing hectic activity. Starting at 0900 a fleet of HALOBs and MERATs are arriving in a seemingly endless procession from Cochin. So far an Infantry Regiment , the Xth, have been landed here along with the 23rd Special Forces Regiment. This is to supplement an already beefed up contingent of MARCOS, the elite marine commandos from Regent's Marine Division.

While the X ID was to be assigned to coordinate perimeter security with the Dragonisian military, the Special Forces regiment and MARCOS set up roving patrols across the sprawling Air station and the harbor channels.

While all this was being done yet another fleet of HALOBs were coming into land. Marked with the insignia of King's Guards first of these HALOBs disgorged the advance section of King's Guards sent out to secure the base for the King's arrival and their equipment and vehicles, 2 Rolls Royce Phantoms and other escort vehicles.

These were shuttled almost immediately to a secure hangar nearby where the King's Guards also set up camp.

In the harbor brisk activity is seen. Around 30 Missile boats tasked with maintaining traffic control were setting up buoys for marking sailing channels and positioning of various ships. Care is taken so that no nation is given any slight in protocol. The aircraft carrier CNS Sakthan was launching sorties of Mig29s and these fighters were practicing for the aerial manoeuvres they were to perform for the Fleet Review. Two Naval MERAT AWACS were also up in the air practicing for coordinating the arriving foreign air forces.

In the harbor itself the Military Engineers Corps were briskly finishing up cleaning up the base. Final check ups were taking place to see that all facilities were ready for incoming Sailors, Dignitaries and Invitees.

The sea off Ratnagiri is in a literal whirlpool of activity as the various Task Forces of Royal Cochin Navy are arriving in preparation for the Fleet Review. The Task Forces are all moored 10 Nautical Miles offshore. The six Carrier Task Forces, ten Cruiser Task Forces, six Marine Task Forces, four Submarine Task Forces and the four Submarine Squadrons are all getting final readiness for the review. CNS Bhima (CR20), one of the premier Cruisers of Royal Cochin Navy and the flagship of Third Cruiser Task Force, is seen tied up in the Base itself. CNS Bhima has been selected as the Fleet Review Ship in which the King and dignitaries will sail to review the fleet.

The Captain of CNS Bhima, Rear Adm. Pratap Singh and his XO, Commander Sumesh Mathew are overseeing the clean up of the ship. The sailors are going on about with their work with a special briskness in their step in the anticipation of their King visiting their ship.

In the skies a squadron of naval UCAV-F Hornets are seen shrieking West in the rehearsal for one of the displays for the Review. In the morning one of the Hornets had crashed on its landing approach to CNS Sakthan. Thankfully there were no loss of life. The controller of that particular received a scathing earful from his Squadron leader and was promptly debarred from two weeks of flying.

At NAS Ratnagiri, the MARCOS and 23SF are seen patrolling in their AXE jeeps and SUVs. A Squadron of Naval Bell212 and Blackhawks with MARCOS commandos were seen patrolling the skies over the harbor and base.

No precautions were left ignored.

GOSREE TIMES

By,

Nikesh Kumar,

Ratnagiri.

The entire Ratnagiri seems to be in a festive mood in anticipation of the arrival of so many dignitaries to this erstwhile sleepy fishing village. Ever since the Kingdom acquired rights to develop the old fishing harbor here the local population has been in a state of jubilation. Millions of Cochin Rupees have poured into Ratnagiri in the form of various businesses and contracts and the trend seems to continue.

This was what a farmer near Ratnagiri had to say," God bless our Chairman and the King of Cochin for setting up the port here. With continuing business like this Ratnagiri could well be on its way to be a rich metropolis."

In other news, the King of Cochin, His Highness Rama Varma arrived at Naval Air Station Ratnagiri at 10AM, today morning. He was accompanied by various Durbar members and RCDF top brass. The King made a short statement on his first arrival to Ratnagiri, "It is indeed an auspicious day when we met and became friends with Dragonisia. We thank them yet again for this invaluable help. Tomorrow in the presence of world leaders we shall unveil the might and prowess of Royal Cochin Navy."

Head of state of various nations and fleet contingents are expected to arrive at Ratnagiri starting from tonight. The Fleet Review is expected to kick off at 10 AM tomorrow when the King and the dignitaries shall set sail in CNS Bhima after firing a ceremonial 12 Gun salute from the ship's MS 155MM Naval Guns. They shall then wait for the sailing in of the Royal Cochin Naval fleet.

The Task Forces which had arrived at Ratnagiri on 15th had all moored 10 Nautical Miles offshore and are now steaming in procession to occupy their positions in the Fleet Review. We are getting a view of 2 Helicopter carriers,.... and yes these are the Marine Task Forces 17 and 18, comprising of the Helicopter carriers CNS Vatutin (H01) and CNS Rokossovsky (H02). TF02.jpg

It was a tough choice for Fleet review organizers to choose the flagship of the review. After much deliberation they had chose CNS Sakthan of the Task Force 01, primarily because of its edge in technology and strength over the other carriers in the RCN. Also name of the ship also figured in the issue.

Unfortunately we do not have visuals of this war ship, but within a few moments we should be able to show it to you.

Now on their final approaches the various fleet units are showing off some of their prowess. Here we see the Six Helicopter carriers of Task Forces 17 to 22 sailing in close formation.

TFMARINES.jpg

Here in a spectacular display we see the cruisers CNS Ranger (CR11) and CNS Guderian (CR12) of the Task Force 12 firing their Exocet AShMs. We have been assured by RCN representatives that these are dummy missiles with non lethal warheads.

Here in a rare display rarely seen by shore dwellers we see a real mid sea replenishment exercise. The participants are Fleet Replenisher RP02 and the Carrier CNS Cochin of Task Force 02.

This is Nikesh Kumar, Live from RCNB Ratnagiri.

The Royal Fleet Review'09 was concluded today afternoon after the King reviewed the Fleet. All Royal Cochin Naval ships turned out very smartly and CNS Hannibal received the King's commendation for best display.

After the ceremonies were formally concluded by a 40 Gun salute by all the Cruisers, Destroyers and Frigates of all task forces. After receiving this gun salute CNS Bhima turned to port where the King of Cochin bid goodbye to the various foreign dignitaries who had come for the occasion.

The King left to Cochin at around 3 PM accompanied by his Durbar members.

A sense of anticlimax has gripped this town after the feverish activity of the past few days.

We have been informed that the task forces of Royal Cochin Navy shall soon be departing for their various missions tomorrow. Tonight the sailors are all expected to get together at the Base for a Bada Khana for all sailors and Grand Ball for all officers.

The Naval Base at Ratnagiri is seen to be jam packed with all the ships that have docked here. While the cruisers and aircraft carriers have tied themselves up at peer, the smaller ships have all anchored themselves 5 nautical miles off shore.

A night of revelry is in the offing for the proud sailors and officers of Royal Cochin Navy. The Commander of Royal Cochin Defense Forces, Gen. Mahesh Varma has hosted a Grand Ball for all the officers and a Bada Khana is readied for the sailors. In this particular Bada Khana gates have been opened up for the residents of Ratnagiri so that they too may share in the revelry. Barrels of rum and brandy has been stocked for this purpose.

Also, a few requests. I'd like to have the battleship fire the 12 16in guns together once and have a small air show with the STOVL aircraft from the Amphibious ship.
