Meeting in Rome

Markus got into the car, stretching his neck. After a short time, he arrived. He walked inside, took a seat and said, "So, what can I do for you today?"

The car drive looked at Markus, "For me nothing. It is Il Duce that wishes to speak with you, it is merely my job to bring to him." The car began, taking a quiet road by the coast towards Rome. Whenever the brush cleared, there was sights of massive reconstruction in cities with Roman-style architecture, and marble buildings held up by large pillars. It was an awe inspiring sight that captured the drivers attention even though he had passed this road several times before.

"The times certainly have changed since Atler's time here..." He observed the people constructing, taking walks, shopping, many things he had seen in Alvonia. There was just a charm about Italy that made him remember when he was just an understudy of Atler's. He came to his senses and then said, "So, approximately how long do you figure it will take to get ot the meeting area?"

"Normally, afew hours. But our path has been closed off to the public, an at this speed it should take us about another 45 minutes."

.....

Finally they arrive. The car pulls up to a large house of stone work, with vines crawling up every side. There was a large vineyard behind the house, where a man was seen pacing slowly as he observed it. When he noticed the car, he walked towards the front of the house to greet the men. With a salute he began in english with a thick Italian accent, "Hello, Mr. Wilding I hope you enjoyed your trip to my vineyard."

"Hm..." He looked the niveyard over. "Very fine Italian wines, I suppose. That reminds me, I heard you were interested in updating your military." He lowers his voice. "Armored car. Normal here, I presume, but it contains our old, outdated weapons. Kar98s, Gewehr 43s, MG34s, all made from our finest German arms experts. If you wish, I can sell you these, and maybe a few others, for a low price. The car obviously isn't here, but it is on a ship headed for here." He looks around. Perhaps we should head inside."

Again with a thick accent. "Yes, we are happen to be work on our military..eh..modernizatione." He turns to the driver, thanking him in Italian for bringing Mr. Wilding safely here. Then turns back to Mr. Wilding, "Come, let us go inside." Apon entering the house, Muzzolini invites Mr. Wilding to sit at a table already set with cups and plates while servants make last preperations to several dishes. "I accept your offerfor the sales of these items. Simply, tell me your price."

Markus unfolds a piece of paper in his pocket and slides it to Muzzolini. It reads:

Kar98: $2,500 per unit

Bren: $1,300 per unit

Thompson: $1,500 per unit

MG34: $2,500 per unit

PPsh-41: $2,000 per unit

"Yes, they are a bit expensive. Really it's because thay're a bit hard to make. Hidolf did have a liking to make things overly complex... Well, in any case, if you would like any number of these, then I'll have Ed Lynch, one of our top weapons demonstrators, help your men learn how to use these weapons effectively." He sips a bit of wine. "A very good deal, no?"

"With the struggles I face as new Duce of Nouva Italia, one benefit I have at my disposal is a large treasury. I will work on exact numbers with military officiales later on and send you a letter." He fills his glace then sips. The table is now set with several different Italian dishes. "Now, would you be interste in an embassy exchange?"

"Well, since Ed will already be here, then I suppose we can use him as a diplomat. That and he will come in handy for when a rifle breaks down and it needs to be fixed; Ed knows each rifle inside and out."

"Excellent. We will send our own diplomat as well."

"Anything else? Perhaps maybe a non-agression treaty or something akin to that?"

"A non-aggresion pact would be perfectly acceptable. If you wil show me sucha document I will gladly sign." He stands " I hope you've enjoyed this short visit. Feel free to go sight seing or whatver you want, your driver will take you almost anywhere you ask within New Italy." With that he salutes Mr. Wilding.

Markus also stanfs up. "Of course. I will have my men write up a draft in Alvonia." He then takes out a cell phone and begins dialing it. "Hello, I need to know where that car is. It's here now? Good." He hangs up the phone and then says to Muzzolini, "It appears the car is here. Would you mind if we borrowed a few items to test-fire these guns on? All we really need is a few bottles, plates, maybe a watermelon or two. Just to make sure they work."

Muzzolini looks to a servant who nods. "There will be all of those items packed and ready for you at the airport. They will be placed on the plan for you, and you won't be bothered by security. Get there whenever your ready Mr. Wilding, the flight won't leave until your aboard."

"Actually, I was hoping we could have them tested here, so you could se for yourself how well and accurate these weapons are." Ed walks in. "Ah, hello Edward." Ed nods. "Gutentag, mein Kaiser. Was kann ich für Sie heute tun, Markus?" Markus looks at him. "I was hoping you could demonstrate the weapons to our good friend Muzzolini here." Ed nods to Muzzolini. "Ja, ein Moment bitte. Ich erhalte die Waffen." "He will be bakc soon. In the meantime, is there a place on the premises where we can demonstrate these? Oh, uh with your permission, of course. I seem to have gotten ahead of myself here."

"Ah, of course." He looks to the servant again, "Annullare che l'ultimo ordine. Avere gli articoli portati qui." Returning his attention to Mr. Wilding he says, "The items are available here, and I happen to own a small shooting range about a mile and a half down this road." The servants begin filling boxes with plates, bottles, and two watermelons. "Caricare che sopra il mio camion. The items will be loaded into my truck, and I will gladly lead you to the shooting range.

"Wonderful." With that, he ordered Ed (who had just begun bringing the heavy Brens inside) to load them back onto the truck. "Sie müssen scherzen." He took the bo xback to the truck and loaded it back. "Now follow Muzzolini's truck." Ed complied and began to drive after Muzzolini.

It didn't take long to arrive. The facility was newly built but mostly empty save for some military officials who had been doing their own testing. They where soon ordered to leave. Muzzolini ordered the items be placed however Mr. Wilding requested. "Firing can begin whenver you are ready Mr. Wilding."

"Of course. Ed!" Ed snapped to attention. "Set up the Bren and MG34!" "Ja!" Ed quickly unpacked a Bren and MG34, set them up on the ground, then loaded and readied them. "Feuer fangen an!" Immedietly, Ed opened fire on a wooden target. The bullets from the Bren ripped it to shreds, leaving a pile of splinters. "Now fire the other one." Ed shifted to the MG34 and opened fire on another wooden target. It too was made into sawdust. "Put them back in the truck." Ed complied and brought out the Kar98, Thompson and PPsh-41. "If you wish, you can fire any of the weapons before you. After we leave, a plane from Alvonia will deliver the rest of the weapons."

Muzzolini tries all three weapons. He continues test firing obviously enjoying himself. He stands and tells Mr. Wilding, "I would like 201 of each of these guns, Mr. Wilding." The extra one of each of the orders would be for his personal collection.
