OOC: If you weren't invited on IRC, you're not posting here. kthx

IC: The Equatorial Star was a beautiful thing. The only functioning space elevator in the history of the world, but it wasn't completely finished. Director Hiley wanted to install a state-of-the-art virtual reality room, and it was in here that he'd test it out with some of the most influential people of the world. It also did him the double favor of giving him a mask, making sure that Sarah Tintagyl wouldn't know who he was. Great!

I don't like long letters. I want to invite you to a meeting on the Equatorial Star, the joint Canadian-Artemis Space elevator, to not only test our virtual reality room but also to discuss new important projects Artemis has been testing. This includes rights for Artemis throughout your nation, the newly annexed Artemis lands in North America, Asia and the Pacific (ooc: I also have Confucianism's land, not marked on the map), a potential non-aggression pact, and the largest humanitarian operation ever known to man. I have invited key nations from the Nordic Confederacy and the Comintern, and Sarah Tintagyl and Emperor Raiyku Shinje "Frost".

Thank you,
Director Hiley

"Raiyku, what if it's a trap? What if you go to your death?" Kimi asked as Frost put on his best business suit. He straightened the tie, a nice red one, standing out. The tie was a deep but bright red, the shirt black, and the suit itself was white with black pinstripes. His fedorah was similar. The man of 27 looked quite handsome.

"I left instructions on how I want the Empire to continue, my Will is written, and I've already said good by to the girls" He said, going over once again all that he said for the last 20 minutes. He finished with his tie, then took his wife in a hug.

"I'll be back" he said. One last kiss, and he left.

West Africa, 2 days later

"It's a nice town" Frost commented as the car moved through the pleasant suburb area to the Space elevator.

"Seems a bit small, you'd think a town around a space wonder would be bigger" replied Tojo Natsuya, the Emperor's aid. It was just him and Frost, and nobody else. They drove for another hour, the Elevator getting larger in the windshield. They pulled up to a private lot, showed a special ID to the guard. They parked and went inside the ground building

When the letter would arrive in Hiley's office it was in the regular plain white envelop, though the smell of perfume hung around it.

Director Hiley,

The contributions of the Artemis Corporation towards humanity is legendary and I am happy to see you once again contributing towards humanitarian aid, though I will say that this Corporation's past in the Russo-Nordic War and especially in Azerbaijan were less than dubious. However, your current new trends are more than anyone can hope for and I anxiously await our meeting. I hope with the creation of this Equatorial Star the advances in modern technology will pass up anything that we could ever have dreamed of or hoped for.

Sincerely Yours,

Sarah Tintagyl

Lady Protector of the Hanseatic Commonwealth

At about the same time as the Japanese flight touched down, Sarah's own jet flying from the newly acquired land in Europe touched down on the tarmac outside of the area designated for the Space Elevator. She had never even been close to such a structure before and she hoped that she would go away with a great understanding of Artemis' and Canada's contributions to modern technology and science. Getting into a private limousine, she journeyed into the ground section of the great wonder, and there waited for the director to present himself. Along with introducing herself to the various other leaders that were to assemble there.

The town indeed was small - the people living here were technicians, scientists, some soldiers. The Space Elevator had been built in the name of science, not for space tourism. And aside from Canada and Artemis itself, few nations had actually sent scientists, strangely, even though the building was international, allowing access to all - even Canada's enemies during times of war.

The most imposing structure in the area was the Elevator's base station.

Along with introducing herself to the various other leaders that were to assemble there.

The Chairman of Canada, Fjodor Leclerc, was already waiting within the base station, for all these world leaders that would be coming. He was standing close to the 'Gondola', the construction that would bring its passengers all the way up, into space. Of note was that the travel duration was two or three days, depending on the exact speed and the goods on it. The heavier loaded, the slower it was.

OOC: very nice

IC:

Following a security officer to what was clearly some form of transport pad, a giant boat construction of some kind that looked like the very floor.

"very big" the Emperor remarked, looking at it through the glass before moving.

"Just through here sir" the Security officer said.

"Thank you" Frost said before turning to his aid. Tojo pulled out a small but elegant pin; it was the Imperial Family emblem. He fitted it onto the breast pocket of the Emperor's suit.

"There we go sir. Now everyone who sees it and is at least half educated about the Far East will know who you are. Sniper's aim here, eh?" He said with a half-smile.

"Thank you Tojo. If I'm going to die, I'm going to do it in my best suit" Frost said, returning the smile before stepping through the doorway into the loading area.

"I hope this is the right place" he said aloud to the man standing near the transport (Leclerc)

It was an imposing structure, as all buildings from Canada normally where. The architecture of the building was truly a work of art and as Sarah was escorted into the Base Station her mouth hung low in utter shock and awe, it was a literal marvel that something like this could be built on Earth and she was anxious to see more about the great structure and for the final goal of the adventure. Space. Walking deeper into the structure, she finally came upon the other leaders gathered around the 'gondola', Leclerc was there, along with the Emperor of Neo Japan. Telling her guard near her to relax, she straightened her dress and smiled as she neared the Chairman and the Emperor.

"Your Excellencies, its a pleasure to see you both." First she moved to Leclerc and picked his hand off from his side and held it tightly. "Truly an honor to see you again, Mr. Chairman, I cannot thank you enough for inviting me. This truly is one of the wonders of the modern world. How are things in Canada?" Then after speaking to the Chairman, Sarah turned briefly around to the Japanese contingent and bowed. "Your Majesty, I don't believe we've met personally." She rose and looked into his eyes. "Sarah Tintagyl, of the Hanseatic Commonwealth, it is an honor."

"So you are the woman who is slowly taking over the world" Frost said with a short bow and tip of his hat "Raiyku Shinje, Neo Japan, most just call me Frost. Strange...I imagined you taller for some reason" he said, his gaze a curious one.

She was very, very skinny, and very, very blonde. Her face was hidden under what seemed like a mask of makeup, which was curious because the clothing she wore did not compliment it, nor in fact match. A very old style dress, white, over which a purple and blue jacket resided, followed with a white bow-tie (OOC:this. I asked sarah about this on IRC).

"When the words "humanitarian" showed up on the invitation, I should have expected your presence here"

Sarah smiled. "My reputation proceeds me then, though its nothing to talk about, I try to live just as normal as anyone would." Though as she looked up at the Emperor, she chuckled lightly. "Though you are quite tall yourself, no one in my family was extremely tall or well built. We were sickly to be honest. But as to me taking over the world, I assure you Your Majesty, I would never dream of it. I am a defender of peace first and foremost and as you so correctly induced, I am here on account of the Humanitarian operations. Both Canada and the Artemis Corp. are part of the White Cross and any technological advancement towards medicine or human welfare I would like to invest further research on. So I am hoping for a very interesting trip."

Sarah paused for a moment as she turned back towards the Emperor. "Though I must ask, when you say should have, Your Majesty. Did you assume I was not expected?"

Frost nodded as she explained the bit about Canada and Artemis and the White cross, throwing in the occasional "of course" in there.

"As a matter of fact, no, I wasn't expecting you at all***. Since this seems to be a primarily technological and militarial conference, I was expecting Aotearoa, or maybe even Promised Land. The message, after all, said 'key nations'" he replied, with a very smooth, friendly, and cordial voice

OOC: ***for sake of conversation, Frost's invitation did not have Sarah's name on the list of people coming

"Indeed, it is. Welcome, Lord Frost." Leclerc said before seeing Lady Tintagyl and smiling towards her.

"I did not invite you, the leader of Artemis did. I merely have the pleasure of hosting this meeting in the Equatorial Star. Regarding Canada, things are going quite well, thank you. I believe I can assume the same of the Hansa, with all these expansions of yours?"

Leclerc merely watched the two talking for a bit, as he was not a man of many words. He turned around, ordering the gondola to be readied. While the main platform of the elevator looked similar to an octagon - eight sides, four of which were connected to one cable each - the gondolas themselves were assembled like a four-leaf clover.

Using heavy-duty cranes, they were lifted on and off whenever passengers needed to visit the station, while usually, goods would be transported in special containers that could be fixed to the platform itself. Now, however, the gondolas were already in place and, theoretically, one merely needed to board it with whatever he had with him to go upwards, into space.

They still had to wait for the other guests, however.

She had never been so insulted in her life, true, the Emperor made his point and it was understandable. The Hansa was not a military or technologically advanced nation, but her own contributions towards the Hansa, towards the White Cross, and to the Humanitarian movement itself and he completely just disregarded it. Key Nations, really, she was one of the...no...perhaps the most influential leader on the planet and to just insult her like that. But nevertheless, he had been cordial and it would not be proper to treat him any less. Though Sarah could not see herself enjoying this trip if she was forced to spend the rest of the time in space near the Emperor.

"Well I understand, of course." Her voice shook for a moment and then returned to its usual quietness. "Well perhaps though I am not truly ready to appreciate the military and technological aspects of the Space Elevator, it will be a learning experience for me. Perhaps then you would think to include me as a key nation." She tried to hide the acid in her mouth. "But there is much more to the world then guns and war. Military advancement need not be what every country concern themselves about. However, maybe only lesser nations can see that."

Frost nodded with a smile at that.

"I will correct my error at once; my own nation's intelligence did not see fit to include you and your nation as a "key pacific nation"" he said in response. He let her continue and finish about guns and war, to which he gave a low but visible laugh, no menace showing on his face (do not play poker with Frost).

"Very true, very true. Violence, death, destruction; it's all we seem to think about in this day and age isn't it? But, and I am sad to say it, that is the way the world works. It is hard to get enough world leaders to agree to defend one another; my own Empire has had to fend for itself on more then one occasion. It must be a wonderful experience, ruling over a nation that has the protection of nearly every state on this world; it is no wonder that you do not have to concern yourself with Military advancement"

She glared at his last statement. "Well I have to count myself as one of the luckier ones then, but at the same time I haven't been afraid to defend myself. I assure you Your Highness that my country does not sit back and rest on its laurels after every accomplishment that the world or the nation makes. We are indeed lucky that we do not need to invest a great deal in military advancement, but at the same time it keeps us from ever truly having a knack for war. The Hansa does have intentions to build a military, we do have intentions of being able to defend ourselves. Unfortunately you are right that the world can't seem to clean up its act and try to live without massacring the man next door, but people will never learn."

OOC: I apologize for the post, Sargun, but I needed to address one issue here. Lynneth, you may or may not recall that Richard Anderson visited the elevator. He was on a flight with a bunch of scientists. So I have a few people there.

OOC: "Few nations" includes Promised Land. And sorry, but I forgot that Anderson went there. ^^'
