It would be interesting to see if there was a micro alliance that didn't try to take the next step into larger alliance politics because it liked the micro interaction a lot...unfortunately, everyone always looks upwards when it isn't always the best thing. The optional part is only ever exercised when the odds are in someone's favour, they're useless otherwise. Might aswell have just signed an NAP in this case, or an MDP instead of an MDoAP.
