The New Nordlandic Path: A shift of paradigm

Today from Martensheim, Prussia, President Martens of the Nordlandic Confederacy has announced a number of new policies and doctrines collectively referred to as "Neuvegun", Nordlandic for The New Way, in order to materialize his previously-stated intentions of leading Europe into war no longer.

"We all not only as Nordlanders but as a Continent and Human beings, have gone a long way since the beginnings of what eventually became our different Nordlandic Nations. During most of the time, there has been war, sometimes for defense, sometimes for expansion, sometimes for other reasons, several times we had risked everything and lost it all, as well as in other opportunities gained many times what we had risked. Our ultimate goal was to help create an Europe that would be stable and peaceful. In seeking that goal, we often became the monster we aimed to destroy, yet in spite of all, the other monsters have been by us defeated without a battle, crumbling like a rotten dead tree upon the first impact, and from its ashes new life springs throughout Europe, and an unprecedented possibility for Nordland to remain at peace without need for further conflict is to be grasped by the hands of ours, for we have achieved our goal of creating safety for our victorious peoples indefinitely."

"The campaign will be remembered in history in an interesting manner. It was brief, yet quite violent, much was gained, but the true victory is not some territories here or there, the true victory is the fact that enough has been gained for us not to ever need to risk our necks again into offensive warfare. We like the other large factions of the world have reached to a point in which the shields always beat the swords, all sides are strong enough to have defensive victories but also not strong enough to have offensive victories, this, combined with the ghost of nuclear warfare will be deterrents to the worlds, deterrents that have for the first time in history the potential to avoid further world wars. This act of presenting the new Nordlandic path is the act to use what we understand in formal terms, to guide our policies successfully and ratify our compromise with our people, and with peace. Here are the key points and actions:"

Neuvegun:

A: General FA Policies

Nordland,

1: Shall not wage offensive wars

2: Shall not acquire new territories by means of offensive warfare

3: Shall not intervene with non-european business excepting for Humanitarian Aid Operations*

Exception: Non-European lands of Norden Kingdom and Imperial Alliance

4: Shall seek diplomatic solutions

5: Shall volunteer to serve as neutral third party when peace talks are needed

B: WMD Policies

1: Definition of WMD: Large scale destruction by Nuclear, Chemical or Biological Weapons

2: Usage of WMDs on Civilians/Noncombatants is strictly forbidden, WMDs are only acceptable against Armed Forces or Industrial targets

3: WMDs are not to be used offensively (Technically, this is also covered by Point A1)

4: WMD usage requires full approval from the Nordlandic High Council, unless in the event of an enemy Nuclear First Strike, but even then B1, B2 and B3 apply.

5: Usage of WMDs by Enemy Forces against a Nordlandic Nation qualifies as Nuclear Aggression towards each of the sovereign countries that form this Confederacy

-Nordland henceforth Guarantees the Sovereignty of: The Republic of Mariehamm and Molakia, excepting if they were to engage in Offensive Warfare

-Nordland offers a Non-Aggression Pact to Molakia

-Nordland will continue with Humanitarian Aid Operations to Carthage. All Nordlandic vessels are allowed to be search by any nation.

-Nordheim expresses its interest to join the White Cross Organization

-Nordland has completed large-scale Naval Defenses in the form of Fortifications and Mines throughout the territory, therefore, foreign trading ships will need to move more carefully as per the new paths released after this.

-Nordlandic Airspace is closed to non-allied nations with the exception of Scandinavian Union Members and Molakia.

-Nordland will continue its Civilian Projects in all of their territories

-Nordlandic meetings will count with the prescence of a democratically ellected representative to put forth the interests of our Russian Protectorate (OOC: Meaning, the white stuff, not the land we actually "formally annexed and occupied")

Kaiser Tanzband stood near his mentor while he announced the many weeks of reform planning that the Nordic Confederacy had partook in.

He simply stood and waved the victory sign to the crowd. Nordland's foreign policy was Prussia's policy, and he was undeniably happen in the developments that had occurred recently in Nordland.

Nordland was pleased. The Kaiser was pleased. The Fascist Party was pleased. Europe was pleased. The World was pleased.

It may take a while for the distrust to fully subside in Uralic Bashkortostan, as Slavorussia was one of our closest friends, but I, Jarkko Salomäki, see this as a step - no, a leap - in the right direction, and am willing to open diplomatic relations with Nordheim and other Nordlandic nations. What remains on my part is simple curiosity as to what will become of the Estonians, Livonians, and Saami that dwell within that particular area.

OOC: Yes, I had to bring up the Uralics again I'm starting to sound like a broken record, aren't I? :lol:

I am only qualified to reply regarding the Nordheimer Portion of that territory, although not for Artemis', but essentially things remain very similar to before, only new flags are there. We do not have to teach the people there Nordlandic or German, because they had been a part of the German Reich for a very, very long time. Some of our own Uralics from Nordheim took this chance to go back to their homeland. Right now aside from AA and other defences, we're also building several schools, hospitals, and one university. The majority were pleased to be freed, as historically the Russians had a history of heavily repressing the area, even though this is not the case for Former Slavorussia."

The Azerbaijani Republic agrees with Generalissimo of Procintia and the New England Republic. The first time the German state, at the time known as "Deutschland" collapsed, the reunification was a violent campaign of occupation and invasion against the nations Lubeck, Austria and Czeckoslovakia.

The second time, Germany moved the first step into a global nuclear war which destroyed the old continent, which is the reason of the last campaign against Slavorussia, tricking the international community masking military training with saber rattling.

This third time, tens of thousands innocent civilians were killed in the name of peace - peace that was already achieved by the RUSSIAN pact. Dear Nordlandic Confederary, Germany ad the nordic "mission" had been reason of war more than anything else, an unknown nation hit our Capital, our undefended Capital City of Baku killing hundreds civilian, and an occupational force tried to shut down our government and seal our border. In our honest opinion, you are the cause of Instability and war, more than anything else. It's just a matter of time before the next war will ravage the continent.

Aye, give them a chance...but we look to all the previous 'chances' they were given, and each time, they failed. As the The Azerbaijani Republic says, what guarantee is there that it won't happen again, other than a few given words?

"Yes I understand that but we must give peace a chance or we will always glare at each other believeing each holds a dagger behind their back ad then we will just need a spark before the next war starts. We musty give peace a chance, we must".

OOC: If there is another big war Il probally leave as its just getting repetitive and annoying. I want to see other roleplays that arn't war based you know like ours subtle which its your turn to post .

The reunification was not violent, Lübeck's government opposed - not the people. Östmark and Böhm and Mähren had no governments whatsoever when we came. These were no nations. Austria, Czechslovakia, Lübeck as nations? Those are anachronisms.

The first Nordlandic-Russian war, did not have nukes...though, if you mean Italy, you'd be sadly correct.

You brought it upon yourself, as you had never been a target. You're no innocent nation that simply stood by and got rolled, you WERE a part of this war. At least we are not childish enough to simply pretend that people are not to die in war, we do what we do accepting our responsability and knowing that things may go wrong, but you, you pretended no consequences whatsoever. It is simple, if you punch someone, they'll likely punch back. You gambled that we wouldn't, you lost. What happens to your nation is, as per these policies, none of our business, as it's way outside our zone. But your foreign affair policies are like a drunken man starting a barfight, later complaining when the police arrests him, losing all dignity.

You declared war on Slavorussia, and the war criminals you call friends and allies targeted our civilian population. We were defending our ally and your heartless allies decided to hit our unarmed population. They should be put under trial for crimes against humanity, but there is no international court unfortunately. You just killed thousands, pretending to liberate them. You aren't liberators, you are imperialists who find excuses to invade and bomb sovereign countries, it's always been like that, in central Europe, and this is the first war you win thanks to backstabbers and false-friends, after three times, after your land got nuked and your country collapsed, three times, you "succeded", at least you found an uncontaminated land, because unlike Europe, Justinian the Mighty ensured the safety of its nation for a longer time.

This is the third time Central europe triggers a world war, so it cannot be considered a peace-promoting coalition, but a time bomb. It's just a matter of time.
