OOC: It's not really weakened by distance.. the US and China would have no hard trouble launching a large-scale attack without worrying about distance, the problem is the actual defenses - which is where the % comes in. The Pacific Ocean is very big =P

OOC: ah but the US and china are also inextricably linked - they own our economy and we keep strong communication with them. China might as well be like Canada; right next door. The difference in this case is combat units being attacked via wireless a significant distance away, and central computers being attacked when me and subtle have had little to no contact or ties with each other for a long while now (I did, after all, threaten to destroy any South Pacific vessel that dared come into Imperial territory). It would be like the US and North Korea - we just arnt connected

OOC: your actions on IRC tell a different story Sargun. Please keep mod bias out of this. Thank you.

IC:

Cyber-attacks on the fixed and mobile positions severely limited targeting as many of the missiles flew off course, and the guns mistargeting. Some were even shut down. Anti-air missiles from the frigates launched flew undeterred to oncoming Tanisian aircraft. 4 whole squadrons (roughly 40 aircraft) were in the air, firing death and OTN missiles into the oncoming group. Continued cyber attacks left much of Tanisian targeting in disarray, forcing a significant number of the craft to use either manual targeting or machine guns.

Several ships of the fleet in Singapore took damage, some already limping to harbor, but the fleet itself was still relatively intact. Rail guns on the battle ships blasted at the coast where cyber attacks had immobilized sever of the mobile defenses, and leveling the fixed ones. The subs meanwhile were having fun playing with any underwater defenses that might have been there.

All in all, a good day so far

Meanwhile, the Southern Fleet still had not advanced into Tanisian waters. They had withdrawn slightly to put them out of harms way, but would continue to hold their positions

Public message to Tanis

Despite your aggression, the Empire still will continue to vouch for Tanisian control over Singapore at the Kharbarovsk Meeting. We ask you yet again to stand down and let diplomacy prevail

OOC: I know I'm still attacking... but this battle is still being waged as I attempt to get out a communication link, it sounds realistic.

IC:

The cyber attacks against the stationary positions were quite successful since Tanis didn't have a closed defense network in place yet. However, many of the mobile batteries ran outside of the defense network... so they didn't get affected. They ran their own small, mobile radar to complement the missile batteries. However communications were cut in the attack... but since they didn't use radar jamming equipment, all missiles within 150 nautical miles of Singapore launched their missiles... they did proceed to start reloading. Some mobile sites just across from Singapore were found and destroyed.

The 16" guns used a closed targeting system that was based more on manual targeting for final touch up. (I never specified the targeting system... but it's old school... yeah I checked wikipedia... it's a flipping analog computer) They had observers above ground to coordinate the firepower. So they were immune to the cyber attack... however, the blasts of smoke revealed their positions too easily... and thus could be fired upon.

The forty aircraft of the Neo Japanese ran into nearly a huge array of fighters, attack, and bomber aircraft. The F-22s enacted electronic countermeasures against the cyberattack and started to jam the Japanese radar frequency on their anti-air missiles from their frigates. This was only partially successful. About 13 squadrons of planes were in the air at the time (9 fighter, 2 attack, and 2 bomber squadrons). A raging air battle ensued amongst the fighters, and multiple dogfights ensued. The frigate missile launch claimed about nearly 2 fighter squadrons.

The AC-130s held back... and circled for awhile in Tanisian airspace, but the A-10s went straight towards the array of Neo Japanese ships and opened fired with everything they had with fire and forget missiles and the armor-piercing 30mm cannon rounds (We're talking serious firepower). The bombers which consisted of B-52s were enroute... but suddenly turned around at the last moment within 10 miles of Singapore.

As for underwater defenses... Tanis only had the Canadian Mach 6 missiles... which weren't activated yet, so they could not have been detected. The power systems to them were off-line but people that were controlling them were ready to fire if needed.

Since communication lines were down almost everywhere around Singapore... stopping the attacks against the Neo Japanese would be a difficult task.

The Banda Aceh area was prepared for an impending attack... it was the one the strong points build up under the new coastal defense system. They awaited the Southern Fleet to move closer... but didn't want to fire... at least not yet.

The Chairman of Dragonisia quietly came to the podium. He first, let a long sigh, indicating his mood. He was weary, and in some ways saddened.

"Hasn't the world had enough of war? Doesn't the constant conflict become tiring? We regret to hear of the alleged moves by Republic of Tanis to occupy Singapore. With the UFE gone, Dragonisia favors local governments rising to meet the needs of the people.. a protectorate.. perhaps.. but occupation? It goes to far. We declare our neutrality in this issue and call for level heads to prevail by Tanis withdrawing its forces. We would also call upon Neo Japan to recognize Republic of Tanis at the tables in the summit they are having to help plan the destiny of Asia, true.. they're not Asian, but a little recognition of the importance of your neighbors could alleviate much stress on all our peoples and provide a path to a more constructive resolution for all. For those who would go to war easily.. just remember... there is still a world out there watching this situation very carefully.. and their loyalties are undecided but may be swayed by those who would attempt to grab for that which is not theirs with to much aggression. Let Singapore's people be free for a time. They may actually enjoy themselves for once."

"We would also like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to Greater Aoteara to peace talks since the war between our nations proved as fruitless as everyone just about knew it would be so that our people may be at rest and we may each attend to our wounds. Perhaps we can even start co-operating as neighbors perhaps should. I will even invite you to write naval doctrine which we would welcome complying to simply in order to assure you we respect your sovereignty. And Neo Japan, we want to dedicate the harbor where you lost lives in your navy to the honor of their memory. We will cede a length of the harbor no less than the length of the ships lost as embassy territory to your nation and we will help you fund the building of a monument of a design of your Artisans' choosing. We would just like to see an end to the rampant, mindless, violence."

"Our doors are open, any productive talks are welcome and we wish those who were offended by anything we have done to make any request. If we have the ability to fulfill them without harm being done to our people or their representation, we will try to fulfill them. We ask the other members of the Pacific rim to please find a way to sort this out. Force of arms should be a last resort. It is, assuredly, the least constructive one and arguably if not definitively the one most likely to render your nations weakened."

Hehe, Guess Dragonisia still has some parts of its old self. We find it funny that diplomacy works no more and the world survives only on bigger guns then even talking between each other. It is so funny that nearly every nation is Predictable. It is sad to see that Asia can not be stable at all.

Public Statement from the Republic of Tanis

Today, as you all know, Tanis attempted to regain Singapore once again. This wasn't our first attempt at Singapore. It was taken and controlled by the UFE. Then the UFE collapsed, it has always been in Tanisian interests to claim Singapore... but we have bide our time for years, waiting.

The Neo Japanese conference over the future of UFE lands was called, but we were denied entry. With no other way to communicate our intention to make Singapore a part of Tanis, resulted in a show of arms... and then war. As we speak, a battle is raging over Singapore... hundreds of men are dying. For what, a two bit island. This conflict could have been easily prevented... but a lack of communication between the two nations lead to this. We didn't push enough to allowed in... and they shrugged us away like a bag of garbage. We have no need for UFE Vietnam or any other part of UFE, but Singapore. So we went with our course of action to drop a body of troops on Singapore.

Tanisians are Asians... we were descended from them. It flows through our veins. A gap less than 100 miles separate us from mainland Asia... and our ancestors traveled the short distance to reach the Sumatran shores. We are Malaya, Thai, Burmese, Filipino, Timorese, etc. Geography doesn't bar us from being Asian... it's the political differences. Sure, the Republic of Tanis and the former UFE had differences... calling us not Asian is a great insult to the culture of this nation.

Greater Aoteara thinks of us as nation that tries to be an empire... that is an outright lie. We don't support imperialist aims of global colonization. Yet we do from time to time to expand into nearby lands... occupied with similar culture, languages, etc. All we want is to be recognized for having a voice between Asia and Australia.

Maelstrom issued another statement,

"We're glad that Republic of Tanis has disavowed Imperialism. All we ask is that you leave Singapore. If Singapore wishes to be part of Republic of Tanis, let them come to you. Dragonisia itself has proven that can happen. How much we wish we could rebuild the Dragon Empire. The Empire of willing souls who stood together in one unified accord to give strength and stability to this region under shared culture and peace of mind. Yet the days of empires have passed, and we have naught sought the temptation of our former glory in expansion for in our maturity, we see that Providence will grant people proper Governance from within their own, it is not needed from without and when like minds see like causes, then unity is sought in peace."

OOC: All my project have been done with no electronic equipment attached to the internet or any sort of wireless frequency. So electronic spying is a moot point to my nation in terms of spying. Hence the only way anyone is ever gonna get sensitive information is to actually spy with a real person.

OOC: You mean to tell me you think that you can move thousands of people around without using any radios? Unless you try using WWI type communications runners, I can pick up radio transmissions, decrypt them, and see what you are doing. Its standard military practice.

Also, I edited my first post to include timed orders to move to theatre, guess you missed that, anyway, please RP the shells landing on you, you are at war.

Message to Aotearoan fleet. (OOC: if this is ruled legitimate/OOC)

"You are violating Australasian Waters. Leave now or face war."

What australian waters? You are really quite ignorant of geography. A sailing from northern Aotearoa, around north of PNG, and into the South China Sea in no way goes through australian waters.

*Movements*

With the Tanisians seeming not to even notice being shelled, the rate of fire was increased, while active defense systems on the fleet were increased in sensitivity incase this provoked them to shoot back. Interdictor X's in groups of four with a single YF-45 missile truck 130 miles behind pushed forward towards the Tanisian Air space, to see if any Tanisian planes wanted to even try stop them.

Transports started to leave New Caledonia with the I through V mechanized divisions, and an escort of 3 supercruisers. They were to move to the south china sea and link up with the fleet there.

In the Night following these movements, Titans Fist long range stealth bombers would lift off from New Caledonia, and taking a route to avoid other countries, start infiltration strikes against Tanisian military targets, mostly harbours as they are the only way that his troops could be resupplied, but also the fixed defenses known to the Aotearoans through IR scans and satellite photography.

You admit you try to take what is not yours with force? This is imperialistic. Your lies are as obvious as your motives. If you had waited to see the results of the conference it may have been decided that that city would go to you, but no, your nation had to take, and now you shall suffer the consequences.

OOC: no, he simply sent the messages to key commanders. it's simple, really.

OOC: Don't try that with me. You said North of Australia, not of the islands. And I said Australaisin waters, not Australian.

OOC: Thats a crock of ****. Key commanders pass orders down to the troops via radio. Seriously, unless tanis is using runners, he is using radio, and I know his movements.

IC: There is more than 12 miles of water between PNG and the marinas. With no closed water policy announced, and having stayed more than 12 miles away from shore, your opposition to our movements to is a simple fishing for a CB. We are sorry to dissapoint you, but unless there are no vessels allowed in-between PNG and the marinas (a policy never before announced) you have no legitimate complaint.

OOC: I have posted what ships I have, and if you can't find them, look harder.

A flight of EB-52H bombers had been stationed over Promised Land airspace with their permission after the deployment of the Greater Aoteara fleet had been detected by multiple active sonar registrations from the sea-crawler net. Some of the crawlers were destroyed in this process, but a ship count had been obtained...

The EB52H's were equipped with a total of 320 missiles on racks in 2 squadrons and were escorted by Hellfires. They refueled prior to their mission start. Each 20 missiles had targeting information on one of each of the 16 ships, 2 carriers, 10 Super Cruisers, and 4 interdictors/destroyers. Using the same tactics employed successfully by the Dragonisian Air Forces previously, they moved to their standoff-ranges of 200 NM and launched their Mach 6 Kinetic Kill warheads at a staggered pace with a half second differential. It is very likely the enemy would not even know which Air Force was responsible for the assault. Even with a low hit rate, 3/20 from the information retrieved from the last attack, it was expected this assault would be utterly devastating to the enemy's naval forces.

Once again, it was expected the attack would not have been anticipated by the aggressor... Once the launch was comlete, the bombers/fighters turned back towards home.

We call for Aotearoa to stand down immediately, and allow a mutual peace to develop.

*Classified message to Neo Japan*

This conflict was born out of miscommunication. Enough blood has been shed. Let us try to resolve this peacefully.

OOC: LVN consider this, even if he uses radio, he probably would use a language other than english, seeing as his people are primarily asian, so, iyou would have to decode transmissions into a foreign language, which increases the difficulty tenfold, then translate it.

Also, try learning a little civility.

B. Aceh

The Southern Fleet continued to remain out of weapons range and outside Tanisian waters. The fleet itself had spread out a bit to block traffic and to keep the fleet from being in one large group. They continue to make no move toward Tanisian Territory. No combat has broken out in this area

Singapore

Fleet Admiral Ohime Sawajiri picked herself up from the floor of the bridge of the frigate Tenryu. Many of the consoles were flickering, some were out. She looked worse for the wear, several dark spots on her face and her hair unkempt. She had a cut on her cheek. The ship had suffered another attack, but was still largely intact.

"Status" she barked at one of the officers on the bridge

"Coming in now...running low on missile reserves, we'll have to resort to the rail gun soon if they don't give up soon" he said, looking over the reading of the instruments

The scene around Singapore was a true sign of a battlefield. Most of the fixed positions of the Tanisians were either destroyed or inoperable, and the battleships were using rail guns and tracking equipment to fire on mobile positions. The attack submarines had also done a magnificent job routing any underwater defenses as well. Still, there wasn't a single vessel that hadn't taken some hit or another (except for the carriers, which had been placed in the middle of the fleet to protect from damage). Many vessels had fires, other holes, and some had unusable weapons or sensory equipment. At least 1/3 of the fleet was huddled near shore to prevent sinking

The Ashigara was lost, the Corvette Miyagi was currently sinking, and the Battleship Neo Tokyo was forced to head to the Port in Singapore Harbor lest it began sinking too.

"Fleet is still together, but we've taken a real beating. Carriers reporting in....the F-60 squadrons are holding alright, they only lost one or two craft. ATD-X squadron strength is down by 40%, at least every squadron has lost a plane, and we lost Green in the last wave" another Bridge officer said from his communications post.

Amongst the junk floating in the sea in Singapore waters, the carcasses of many Tanisian planes could be seen.

Admiral Sawajiri sighed. She was damned proud of the task force. They had followed their orders strictly; not one soldier inside Tanisian territory. The fleet had stayed in Singapore waters then entire time, and the ground forces in the city hadn't even been challenged. The Imperial Task Force was there to defend Former UFE territory, not invade Tanis

"They're coming back!" another officer suddenly cried from the sensor post. The Tanisian Airforce, or rather, what was left of it, could be seen in the distance.

"They don't have the man power to take us anymore, We've held our ground! Didn't we just get a communique from Tanis that they were standing down?" Admiral Sawajiri demanded.

"They must not have received the orders yet; our cyber attacks did a pretty good job of cutting them off from communication. The governmental communique was via morse code"

As the Tanisian aircraft drew nearer, flashes could be seen from the shore and ports; ground anti-air units, which were slightly closer to the oncoming planes, had already opened fire again. A number of explosions could be seen amongst the last remnants of the Tanisian aircraft

"Send out a general call to stand down to the Tanisian craft. Tell them we have a communication from their government that they are standing down, and a ceasefire has been called. Get HQ on the line, tell them we need a Diplomatic dispatch immediately; Tanis is finally willing to talk...We've held" Admiral Sawajiri said to the communications officer

"Aye ma'am" he replied, sending a broad signal to the oncoming airforce

Edit:

*Classified message to Neo Japan*

*Classified Response to New Cymru*

We've been trying diplomacy ever since the collapse of the UFE. Believe us when we say that we have no desire to be in this situation, and we still hold out hope for a diplomatic change in Tanisian policy. This blatant aggression on their part only furthers our desire to be far removed from the South Pacific

OOC: I use radios of course... but I don't use long-wave radios. Offensive mass movements are planned in advanced in the command center which is secure. All planning is done by the chiefs of staff alone with the aides. People watch the aides or anyone the chiefs of staff decide to tap to use... and the consequences of leaking is death, they'll told straight up they're being watched etc. Then the orders that are on paper are passed on to area commanders and everything is dealt with.

As for radios, not all radios have great range nor the same frequency. I have long-wave radios, but I don't use them to communicate mass movements, since it's up the commanders on the battlefield to enact the battle plans. I use short-range radios for general movement which uses a range of about 50-75 miles... but your nowhere near Burma to pick those up. (And you'll just find out a lot of people leaving anyhow) Also, if I have to use longer range radios, I'll be smart to use codenames on any frequency. Decryption is meaningless when I'll make entire new jargon that doesn't represent anything. And the codes are discarded once the operation begins... and only known to the chiefs of staff and that starts to trickle down only 36 hours before something goes down. However, I've never explained it because it's very complex. I'll even go as far to change radio frequencies ever 12 hours to confuse people.

Modern, even future technology can be beaten... I've been reading my electronic warfare, and the systems to detect will become more powerful... but the countermeasures are pretty simple, well most of them.

*Counter-Movements*

The TNS Kerki was still patrolling about, watching the battle over Singapore. They were observing the fight... but they were watching the fleet in the South China Sea. So they decided this would be a good time to light up the sky with a their radar, which would then produce a long-wavelength and cranked it up to 3 MW, and hoped they might scare the crap out of them... and maybe damage some electronic equipment. The destroyer painted the sky with the SPY radar and intermittently detected dozens of moving objects at high-speed.... and also one object that was lagging behind. The ship's captain decided that whatever the lagging object was... it was a support object that was helping the faster moving objects that were coming in and out of the radar. The ship decided not to fire... and see if they tried to violate Tanisian airspace. If they did... then they would open fire.

With a short range radio... they threw the coordinates to the approaching aircraft to whatever mobile sites and aircraft were left.

On land, the mobile anti-air batteries didn't take in the battle of Singapore due to the amount of planes in the air... which was would have lead to friendly fire. Some however were found by the Neo Japanese and destroyed. All the small island defenses around Singapore were nearly utterly destroyed... but the rest of the system over Sumatra was intact.

__________________________________________

OOC: LVN, I made the following below just in case you want to continue... if not, I'll be patrolling further into my airspace. But if not, the following never existed... and I'm too lazy to make a different post for it. :P

Having gotten the cease fire from the Neo Japanese, most of the remaining squadrons departed to a patrol area some 60 miles inside Tanisian airspace. Half a squadron was left behind near Singapore, about 8-10 miles away consisting of F-15s, so that the Japanese could see them easily. Then a force from the northeast continued and broke into Tanisian airspace... the destroyer picked up the threat... but the radar signatures were weak and going in and out.

The patriot missile batteries opened fired to the northeast shooting fragmentation-warhead missiles into the incoming threat. They would fire in front in stagger positions in front of them from their in-out radar signatures, to try to protect the patrolling aircraft.

The F-22 pilots knew they were probably fighting a losing battle, but they received more help from several squadrons based out of Jakarta. In coordination, AWACS on the couple of E-3s and some intact F-22 radars detected the new threat... only so briefly. There were an additional five squadrons to replace the six squadrons lost of the original nine. This information was relayed to the JSTARS aircraft and tagged them as enemies. They fired their radar-guided missiles towards the targets and hoped they hit and they deployed chaff and started jamming sequences immediately. Then it would come to the cannons and heat-seeking missiles.

A Tanisian navy personnel in Jakarta, having already alerted the Vaule nuclear submarine (based in Jakarta for the moment) was deciding what the Vaulian submarine to do, whether to sit or help Tanis decimate this force in the South China Sea... if the madness couldn't be stopped yet... they weren't really too thrilled to do it.

-snip-

OOC: Well, Frost... even though we did disagree with certain things earlier... it's been a pleasure RPing a fight.

The A-10 attack was somewhat successful... but it still came at a cost of nearly half of the aircraft that participated on the attack run, totally caught with their pants down by the appearance of the ground AA. Those that reacted fast enough, lived for another day. As the fighters were about to return to attack... they started to receive a stand down communication from the Japanese... they said the Tanisian government was standing down. Puzzled, they reacted slowly... still beaming down on the mass of ships and bellowing smoke from many successful missile attacks. They noticed that the ground AA in Singapore wasn't firing back... as they did just earlier against the A-10s. They decided to turn-around and took a chance of not being fired upon... understanding the message.

So out of the 156 planes (the 13 squadrons; the two bomber squadrons never committed any attacks and stayed out, five fighter squadrons lost and one ground-attack squadron), only 86 planes survived the Battle of Singapore. Some were still flyable... some moderately damaged. Eventually only about 49 planes actually made it back to the respectful airfields... jettisoned due to heavy damage. The Tanisian Chiefs of Staff thought they could destroy the Japanese navy with a fraction the air force... but after sustaining heavy losses of over 100 planes... it was too much to stomach.

One-half of a squadron of F-15s the were inbound to reinforce in the attack took up a patrol area about 8-12 miles away... still being a bit weary of continually shelling coming from the northeast... at least they knew it wasn't the Japanese. The 49 planes were reinforced with another arrival of five fighter squadrons based out of Jakarta. They took a patrol some 60 miles from Singapore in front of the island of Sumatra and covered outward some 10 miles by 80 miles (50-70 miles from Singapore with a patrol length of 80 mi.)

Once again, it was expected the attack would not have been anticipated by the aggressor... Once the launch was comlete, the bombers/fighters turned back towards home.

The blatant unstealtyness of the attack force had them picked out on radar over 500MN from the fleet, and the active CAP of 8 Interceptor X's and two YF-45's locked onto the incoming aerial attack long before it had fired any missiles. The stealthy Interceptor X's aimed at the fighter escort with long range multimode (radar, IR and visual) targeting air to air missiles, each fighter firing four of its eight missiles, while further behind the fighters, the YF-45 missile trucks ripple fired 25 missiles each. With 83 missiles (Mainly targeted at the larger, slower, and less maneuverable bombers) flying at supersonic speeds towards the oncoming attack, it was expected that little to no counter-attack would be launched at the fleet from the remnants of the Dragonisian attack force.

With the integration to BattleNet, as soon as the incoming attack was sensed, it was relayed to the fleet and code red was issued with active defense systems slaved to BattleNet and placed on full auto while more fighters took to the air, and soon an additional 20 fighters were coming in towards the fight, their sensor suites looking for incoming missiles so that the air to air missiles the fighters carried could be used for interception.

With this attack taking priority, the air patrol into Tanisian airspace was called off, however, bombing missions would still occur that night, and the naval bombardment was still continuing...

The Philippines denounces the use ofunecessary force over Singapore and urges all involved to stand down. I also request that troops from the Filipino units based in Malaysia be allowed to enter Singapore to act as peacekeepers in the metropolis.

Glorious Aotearoan will stand down and remove all units from theatre on one simple condition, that the Republic of Tanis removes all troops and discards any claim to the city of Singapore. It is unfortunate that we had that use military force, but as this was the unjustified invasion of the territory of our strongest treaty partner, even with the dissolution of the UFE we had a duty to see that the fate of those lands was chosen by the people of them, not invaders from another country.

The fact that Dragonisia has attacked us, again, again unprovoked, is a disturbing sign, and yet again, we shall give them another chance. A mere apology will be enough to restore relations as long as no further attacks occur.
