Uberstein
so much for the return exodus......can I still at least visit? In 20 ingame years, and that is when the reconstruction will begin. I'm not going in there with all that radation.
Arkantos
I RP'd some immediate impacts. I plan to RP a bunch of deaths from various cancers, and a poor crop season.
Subtleknifewielder
I RP'd being a few degrees cooler, and perhaps crops being a little harder to grow. Also RP'd preparations for what to do if it got worse. But as I'm in Ausrtralia, I don't think we'll be severely affected.
Vasili Markov
I RPed preparations long before the nukes even started to fly. I saw this coming. War... war never changes... Edited March 5, 2009 by Vasili Markov
Tahsir
Radiation isnt the issue with nuclear winter. Its the fires.
Kaiser Martens
Fires, how is that? I do not get it.
Sumeragi
Fires, how is that? I do not get it. The smoke and dust from the explosions would be the cause of nuclear winter. Radiation itself is unconnected to the winter.
JerreyRough
The smoke and dust from the explosions would be the cause of nuclear winter.Radiation itself is unconnected to the winter. Correct. The explosions set off many fires, so many taht the fires are often uncontrollable. I've been wondering what those that have been nuked have done about that... I.e.: Hundreds of years ago, a single large volcano errupted and made a mini-ice age (the smoke). This many nukes would throw up much more fires (but it would be dull Rp'ing RL nuclear winter for many months, so it will need to be reduced). Vasili Markov
We need a good post showing where, and how many, nukes went flying around & hit their targets. What we need is a global nuclear winter report. Edited March 5, 2009 by Vasili Markov
Sargun II
What we need is a reset with me having all my land.
Subtleknifewielder
What we need is a reset with me having all my land. In other words...it ain't gonna happen, right?
DeSchaine
In 20 ingame years, and that is when the reconstruction will begin. I'm not going in there with all that radation. My dear baron, dont you read? Taeunas troops are in Old Hansa doing radiological cleanup and kicking Comrades butt all over the countryside. Helsinki, Turku, Vantaa... in fact I control both the Vantaa and Turku airports so I can bring in supplies and troops. Hell, Sarah was RPing rebels in there that I was dealing with, and the whole thing is still on going. As for my own fallout rp... I'm not sure what to actually RP. Being NW of the European mainland and a better distance away from North America (if any DID hit there, what a mess that whole situation was!) how much am I taking? Tahsir
Fires, how is that? I do not get it. For better illustration, here are the 2008 fires in Georgia. One nuke could probably spark a few fires of this size. http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/im...2007107_lrg.jpg http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/im..._AMO2007127.jpg http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/im...2007115_lrg.jpg http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/im...2007127_lrg.jpg http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/im...TMO_2007115.jpg http://media.mgbg.com/wkrg/photos/weather/...1_satellite.jpg Notice on that last one, after they had been burning for about 2 or 3 weeks, just how big these smoke clouds can get. MercyFallout
More or less, the timetable for the "nuclear winter scenario" is been put at roughly three months for the hardest hit countries, a month for much of the rest of the world, and a few weeks for someone like Lynneth. Of course, it is optional (unless you were hit by nukes. Though technically its not the "nuclear winter scenario" you are sitting in, its the nuclear radiation clean up scenario). HHAYD
I don't know if the wind can blow radiation into the Great Lakes area. I am not going to RP much of the radiation effects unless someone shows me that radiation can spread into my nation.
JerreyRough
I don't know if the wind can blow radiation into the Great Lakes area. I am not going to RP much of the radiation effects unless someone shows me that radiation can spread into my nation. The smoke is a major problem (from all the cities and places on fire). EDIT: Radiation is still a problem, but the smoke is a major reason (alas why GTI is making glass domes and bunkers).
