Zapatista National Liberation Army

Comandante Marcos

Recommended Posts

E.Z.L.N.

In a forgotten corner of southern Mexico, the impovershed natives working tirelessly to provide for their villages. Often living in huts and working from the early dawn, deep into the night. These forgotten people, no longer able to provide for the growing population of their villages with so little resource and no way to contact the outside world have risen under the leadership of El Comandante Marcos. His true identity is unknown, but his goals are clear. He braught knowledge of the outside world to these people, educated them with books and storys, and enlightened them with the idea of socialism. Marcos has now taken his crusade to populated metropolises to share their vision to the masses. Now the EZLN, Ejercito Zapatista de Liberacion Nacional (Zapatista National Liberation Army) has finally made contact with the globe and is broadcasting their struggle to the world, as heated talks continue over their secession.

Marcos (Mexico City)

Comandante Marcos has traveled with 150 loyal Zapatista soldiers to Mexico City for a speech to his largest crowd yet. 455,000 people lined the streets and alleys to catch a glimps of Marcos, while hundreds of heads reached out of windows to hear his powerful words. His Zapatista entourage looked curiously around at the city monuments, never exposed to large city life they became sickened with the excesses of so few at the expense of so many. This stuck int he minds of the Zapatistas who lived on small villages, who dedicated their lives to simple works that keep this grand city,a nd others like it running comfortably.

The Crimean ambassador sends a warning to the Imperium government warning her about this possible revolution occuring in the Amerikanisches Reich.

When questioned of th Crimean ambassador's warning to the Imperium government, Marcos had only 1 response."The EZLN has requested a peacefull secession, but now that we are out, we will not go away."

We are not implying you are a violent group. However, should this EZLN decide it no longer wants to be part of the Reich, a warning to the Imperium of America would be vital to stopping the spread of revolution. Especially if the Reich decides to crush your little revolution.

We'v long decided we no longer wish to be part of the Reich. We hold o grudge against it, we only wish to have our own nation...we beleive our ideas will be better. And it is far more than a little revolution. We'v heard enough from your ambassador, perhaps a more respectable representative.

Because you are on the other side of the Pacific from Crimea Iso, we shall not be sending another ambassador. Our ambassador in the Imperium is sufficient.

CLASSIFIED EXCEPT TO THE EZLN:

We would like to meet with your leader, Comandante Marcos, to discuss your revolution.

EZLN Declares Independance

The Imperium government has agreed to allow Zapatista Union land in southern Mexico. "The peaceful revolution has succeeded in one corner of the world so far" cheered one Zapatista soldier. Marcos quickly goes to work creating a stable revolutionary government, begining with the redistribution of the land. It was once mostly in the hands of rich land owners, now it will be givin to the peasents and farmers who actually work the land. One rich landowner in particular fled to the north, leaving his properties to the new Zapatista state, while many peasents excited over the "revolution" enter the new nation boosting the workforce. The large estate will be used as Marco's headquarters and main place of operation. Marco's title remains Comandante, and will head the council that will be the nations governing body. The council takes peasents from each village, and Marco's will also be commander-in-cheif.

Tsar Romanov laughs with excitement, even in these dark times.

"Several nations burn under a nuclear sun, one arises in the cesspool that is Central America."

Dispatch from Kingdom of Molakia to the EZLN:

Hasta la victoria siempre, ¡Patria o Muerte!

(OOC- Until victory always, Homeland or death! )

Amerikanisches Reich sheds another nation on its periphery... just as we secede, so does the Zapatista Union... play us off against each other, eh?

Himynamistan looks forward to establishing diplomatic relations with Zapatista Union following the conclusion of the transfer of power and full recognition by Amerikanisches Reich.

Can't afford to upset our neighbor to the north... and our neighbor may be looking to Himynamistan to provide a buffer between them and the Zapatistas. Social reform is nice, of course, but not when it smashes the banking system and the rights of property ownership...

The Tahoe Republic will watch the Zapatista Union closely. Any attempt by any nation to sign a treaty with the communists will result in the destruction of the Zapatista state. Any attempt at supporting foreign socialist, communist or anarchist revolts, regimes or rebellions by the Zapatistas will result in the destruction of the Zapatista state. Any attempt at expansion by the Zapatistas will result in the destruction of the Zapatista state.

You have been warned.

We find it frightening that our ally makes such threats to a nation that has received our blessing. Communists at home are not tolerated but Mexico has always been unstable for us, especially the deep south of it. It is easier to grant independence to nations rather than to try and control it all. Foreign Communists are fine with our government as long as they do not pry into our internal affairs.

The Kaevan Autonomous Anarchist Territory applauds the Zapatistas and wishes them luck spreading the revolution to the Americas. It encourages them to not be intimidated by petty threats from frightened imperialists and to continue breaking the chains of the exploited masses.

The Socialist Republic of Zurran announces it recognizition of the Zapatista Union

*Foreign Minister William Haron walked quickly through the halls of the General Assembly building, breathing rather heavily. He was not exactly a fit man, it had been his sharp mind that had gotten him his position not his size. Wiping the sweat from his face as he stopped before the door of the President's office. He took a few deep breaths to steady himself, then knocked.*

"Come in."

*He swung the door open and entered. Sevan Naum, President of the Socialist Republic of Zurran, sat behind his desk. Reading some paper about this or that issue to be brought before the General Assembly. The President glanced up, an eyebrow rising in questioning at his foreign minister's sweaty appearance.*

"What is it Will?"

*He asked. Putting the paper he'd been reading aside. Taking a few more deep breaths, William Haron held out the report he'd been carrying and spoke.*

"There's been a revolution in the Amerikanisches Reich. A peaceful one too. The Zapatista Union such declared its secession from the Reich. They've begun carrying out socialists reforms. The Tahoe Republic is though threatening to wipe them off the map should they sign any treaties with fellow leftists or support any such movements anywhere else in the world."

*Sevan Naum's expression was thoughtful as he listened and read through the report.*

"We'd better move carefully then. The Tahoe Republic has long been an enemy of every progressive force on the planet. Sadly, they also have the might and enough friends to get away with whatever they please. We cannot, however, sit back silently while is happens. Get the other ministers, I'm calling a session of the General Assembly."

********In the Hall of the General Assembly***********

"My friends, my fellow revolutionaries. It has come to my attention that a new state has risen in the world. The Zapatista Union has broken away from the Amerikanisches Reich through what so far has been a peaceful progress. Yet the forces of reaction have already threatened to intervene and try to undo the movement of the workers. While we have done our best to remain outside the cut-throat politics that so often lead to war. At this moment nations moving toward socialism are islands within the furious ocean of capitalism and it is my belief we must support our comrades in every part of the world least all of us be swept away by the flood of greed and imperialism of capitalism. Thank you."

*Minutes later a message was sent out from Zurran to the Zapatista Union:*

The General Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Zurran has voted overwhelming to recognize the Zapatista Union as an independent state and gladly welcomes its commitment and advancement of the proletarian revolution of the working class.

(OOC: You sir need some chill pills. I hear the Andonians sell them real cheap these days...)

The Kingdom of Molakia recognizes the Zapatistas as an Semi-Autonomous State. Until full functions of a goverment are seen, we cannot 100% throw our support behind you.

As we said, communism is intolerable, especially in its proximity to our nation. The only reason they haven't been wiped off the map yet is the Amerikanishes Reich has granted them independence and thus blessing. Any attempt to expand, support foreign communists or form treaties of defense will result in their destruction, however, due to the national security issue that would incure.
