Raritan
C would be the starting tech date (1900 or 1910) and M would be how many years for 1 tech you get. Thre should be a cap on tech years though, you can't go past a certain year no matter how much tech you have if a linear function is used. LeVentNoir
y= Year I suppose. What would the other variables be? X= tech. what would why and M be. Dude, did you do 9th grade maths? Its a formula for a straight like, where x is an input, m and c are constants and y is an output.

Triyun
Raritan having a cap on tech is unfair to larger nations. I know what m is as a variable, what would we put as the slope.
LeVentNoir
Well rather easily, we want 1946 as a start. What do we want to end up with? 2019 seems reasonable. What tech range do we need to take care of? 0-5000? 0-6000? I prefer the latter, so we already have c, 1946. so, now we just need m m = (2019-1946) / (6000-0) = 0.0121666666.... So, Tech year = 0.0121 *IG tech + 1946. For me, 4019 tech, I get 1994.

Sadinoelus
So, wait. I'm trying to figure if I need to go back and adjust. Are we doing what Sumeragi suggested for GDP or no? Also, how about 1950 + (log(IG tech) / .075) for tech? For rough estimate of how it'd pan out: 0 - 1950 100 - 1975 500 - 1985 1000 - 1990 2500 - 1995 4000 - 1998 6000 - 2000 8000 - 2002 10000 - 2004 20000 - 2007 No end level, technically, but it starts slowing down dramatically, and I don't think there's anybody who's going to be much past 2000, so we can keep it grounded in things that already exist. Thats way too much in my opinion. Plus it unfairly penalizes people who've built their nation for tech over infra I feel. I think 1910 1900 log formula may work. Danforth
Application Nation Name: Nova Islandis Nation Capital: New Holar Government Type: Bereaucratic Technocracy/Limited Democracy. Areas wanted: Wake Island Singapore Ethnicities: Icelandic (majority), English and Micronesian (minority). Link to nation: http://www.cybernations.net/nation_drill_d...ation_ID=303143 Hopefully, I'm good. I checked all the claims, Wake Island Singapore seems to be unclaimed so far. edit: I realized how ridiculous a nation on wake island is, so I moved it in-game to Singapore. Triyun
Two charts as alternatives I see as viable: 30 log (1.5*Tech) +1900 1: 190510: 1935 100: 1965 250: 1977 500: 1986 750: 1991 1000: 1995 1500: 2000 2000: 2004 2500: 2007 3000: 2009 3500: 2011 4000: 2013 4500: 2014 5000: 2016 6000: 2018 OR Tech year = 0.0121 *IG tech + 19461: 1946 10: 1946 50: 1946 100: 1947 250: 1949 500: 1952 750: 1955 1000: 1958 1500: 1964 2000: 1970 2500: 1976 3000: 1982 3500: 1988 4000: 1994 5000: 2006 6000: 2018 Edited February 18, 2009 by Triyun

Raritan
I prefer the log function. It doesn't limit smaller nations to WWII stuff and gives large nations the ability to RP into the present day and into the near future without running too far ahead of the present times. The linear function continues upward forever at a steady rate which would give very large nations an unfair advantage over smaller ones (unless a cap was imposed at a certain time in the future, like 2024 (15 years ahead)).
