Subtleknifewielder
OOC: Just one note. The attack referred to is NOT the attack by Timor and Tanis, but the secret atack by Triyun. IC: The crowd was almost silent. The newly sworn-in President himself was going to make a speach within sight of one of the destroyed power plants. Behind him, its ruins, and the ruins of the homes that had been caught in the blast, could be seen. Finally, he stepped up to the podium erected for this purpose. He was clad, not in a business suit, but the uniform and gear that he'd worn when in the marines. As he cleared his throat to speak, what nboise there was faded away completely. "Today, I stand before you, not just as your president, but as one of you, a citizen of this great and free nation. I, too, lost much in this devastating atack, not because I lost anything considered belonging to me, but because when we experience losses on this scale, no one in the entire nation is unaffected. "But it is not an ending. We are bruised, but not beaten down. We are bloodied, but not broken beyond repair. We are damaged, but not destroyed. "Damage will be repaired. We will rebuild. We will heal. It will take the efforts of every single member of this nation, but by God, we will not go quietly into the night. We will not let this devastation break our will to survive. "To whomever was behind the attack, though we are hurting, we are not out of it. In an odd way, I feel we must thank you, for opening our eyes to the truth--that though we are a peaceful nation, that does not mean we have no enemies who would see us destroyed, and are fully capable of such action. I say to you, never again. Never again will we be caught unawares. Never again will our homes, our families, our lives be destroyed without making the you pay a dear price--in blood. As for the rest of the world, we ask, not for charity, but assistance in our hour of need. Help us rebuild. We will not forget those who help us, especially those having no obligation to do so." He stepped back, clearly finished, and the crowd burst into thunderous applause. Immediately, he stepped down, talking personally to each citizen he could, asking the citizens who were better off to help, whether it be by monetary or material contributions, labor, or to simply go home and continue to work in whatever way they could to support the economy. Just because they were physically rebuilding did not mean they would neglect any other aspect.
Rebel Virginia
"The Republic of Rebel Virginia would like to take credit for the attack on Promised Land. As you can clearly see, we made one of the world's most advanced and powerful nations in the world tremble and hurt. This is the power that is Rebel Virginia. We are a force to be reckoned with." proclaimed Press Secretary Brawnson. Edited February 4, 2009 by Rebel Virginia

We don't think you dishonorable enough to actually violate any agreement you make. "You obviously do not know us very well then. Rebel Virginia takes full responsibility for the attack. We can also provide proof that we do have the technology to pull such an attack off. Though it would be unwise for most nations to give away such secrets, we find it to be in our interest to make the full extent of our power known to the world." And besides, most of the world would believe it an act of terror on a recognized state. If you were truly responsible, you might have half the world bearing down on you, through actions not of our own making.

Sarah Tintagyl
You are an example for the world to follow, a people that have been attacked yet still have the will to go on. The Hansa's hearts go out to Promised Land and after our own sufferings in the past this shows further that we all must stick together through the darkest of times. Therefore, five freighters will be sent to your nation to provide fresh food and water. We have enclosed grains and salted fish for your people and we hope that this aid will be accepted in your times of trouble.
